5 stars for their pineapple fritters, but everything else was just okay. The crème brûlée was yummy, but I ate the pineapple fritter first, so it wasn’t that good compared the fritter. I also order the Boston cream donut and the other cream donut. Neither were good. The other cream donut’s cream was salty. I don’t know if it that’s how it’s suppose to taste, but I wouldn’t get it again.

Make a point of heading into the alley if for no other reason than gaping. If you are a fan of voodoo donuts you’ll get the insane combos they come up with. Go on the early side as they do run out. Raspberry with buttercream, red velvet with fried Oreos inside, a lilikoi and cream and crème brûlée. They’re roughly $ 5 each but so worth it

Easily the best thing I ate during our whole weeklong trip to the big island! We stayed at the Fairmont Orchid for 4 nights, and now 3 nights at the Four Seasons, so we have eaten at some of the best places that the Island has to offer. In all honesty, I haven’t stopped thinking about these doughnuts since we got them at 6pm on Thursday. It’s now Saturday 5:15pm, and we are leaving late tomorrow night. All I can think about is how I’m gonna get my hands on another batch of doughnuts before I leave! I went by Holy Doughnuts and got a dozen of all different kinds for my wife and kids. We also had another family traveling with us, with whom we had spent the first four nights at the Fairmont Orchid — they had a late flight that night I got the doughnuts. I’m not a big dessert person by any means. My diet is mostly fruits, vegetables and seafood. I stay away from processed foods, refined sugars and just eat really clean. I’m lucky that I live in Westlake Village Ca, because if I lived here, I would eat these doughnuts every day. When I got them back to the group, my wife took a bite and said you have to have a bite of this! She knows how I feel about sweets and would rarely ever say that. I said ok, and as soon as I bit into it, my tastebuds had a flavor explosion in my mouth! I couldn’t believe what was taking place! This was no doughnut! My wife is a big fine desserts person, so I have visited and tasted some of the finest creations at some of the best bakery’s thoughout the world. None of them had anything on this little doughnut shop tucked away in a little shopping mall in Kona, Hawaii! After the first bite, I took a taste of every doughnut that was left in the box. Each one was a magical experience taking place in your mouth. It’s almost ridiculous — I’m staying at one of the nicest Four Seasons I’ve ever been to, and all I’m thinking about are these doughnuts! I’m seriously gonna get up at 5am and go get doughnuts before my family wakes up!!! THEYARETHATGOOD!!!

Oh,. sweet be-jesus this place is awesome. Cool little place made to look like a truck and what awaits inside is even better. Like back in time you are greeted by friendly, invested staff with genuine discussions and explanations for what awaits! It felt even more old timey when the sugar/flour guy came with a delivery and was greeted like Mr. McFeeley on Mr. Rogers. The donuts here are great, but the cake kind that I like better. The falvour recipes though,. off the charts: Likiloi and cream cheese, crème brûlée and more that I might actually fly back to Hawaii just to sample…

WOW!!! Let me say it again! WOW!!! The donuts at Holy Donuts are awesome!!! They are huge, fluffy, moist and melts in your mouth. The employees are super sweet women that loves what they do. They also have a little outdoor seating area that is just the left of their shop to enjoy their amazing donuts. My daughter got plain sugar malasada. I kid you not, this malasada was as big as a baseball. What was so nice was that my daughter wanted pink glitter on her donut and the girl behind the counter put pink glitter on it and it made the donut too beautiful to eat. My daughter ate the whole thing in 15 minutes and she loved every bit of it. I got a cinnamon roll. It was as big as a soccer ball!!! It was sweet and full of yummy cinnamon. My son got a chocolate glazed round. He loved it too. I’m loooking forward to going again.

Absolutely amazing service and amazing donuts. The donuts are a the perfect marriage of light and fluffy with bouncy substance. Cinnamon roll donuts are a family favorite. The Boston crème satisfied. Maple bars were heavenly. Really, these are gosh-darn good donuts. Cashier will explain each and every donut the have in the case and make sure you get what you want. Free samples on the counter, usually of their cinnamon rolls and pineapple fritter. Fresh fruit, when possible, is used in all of their donuts. There was also one with two Oreos baked into the center for the adventurous. I have paid about the same for a lot smaller donuts in Portland, Ore. so I feel like their prices are very reasonable. Only problem with this place is they are closed on Mondays! Notes: Accessible, ground level, pay-for-parking behind(though I just ran in and got my donuts and ran back out, shhh…) Take the walk down the ally off of the main drag and support this wonderful business and get some good food!

First, the good stuff. The doughnuts are huge. I mean big as your head huge. We got one of the fritters for my aunt and she had to share it with and still didn’t finish. And my aunt has quite an appetite. Second, the flavors are really fun and interesting. You won’t find dragonfruit or lillikoi anywhere else. And there are tons of super sugar candied flavors for the kids. The bad stuff. Honestly, I don’t mind the price. My favorite doughnut shop is Doughtnut Plant in NYC and I regularly pay $ 3 bucks for a doughnut that is half the size as Holy Donuts’ pastries. However, the doughnuts are too sweet. I know, that sounds like a silly complaint. But truly, they are too sweet. I like icing, glaze, filling, toppings, all that yummy stuff. But the only doughnut I could finish was the dragonfruit because it had a bit of citrus to balance the sweetness. Otherwise, not even a cup of Kona coffee could cut the sugar.

Something sweet to snack on while waiting for our sushi from Hayashi’s. Only one person working when we stopped in, but she was very nice and took the time to describe their variety of donuts. My personal favorite is the Lilikoi with a close second being the Crème Brûlée. Warning — the donuts are massive and on the pricier side! Great to get a few and share with a group!

The locals told us about this place 7 days in of our 10 day vacation… thankfully! Who knows how much weight I would have gained in 10 days had I been here from day one. The owners are so nice and helpful. The donuts are out of this world. The crème brûlée donut and strawberry cheese cake donuts were delish. I can’t imagine I could find one I didn’t like though. This place is a MUST on your vacation list. Prices are not like a regular donut place back home so be prepared to pay $ 4-$ 5 a pop.

The most amazing donuts I had in my life!!! Love the variety of flavors. I filled up a huge box to take home to share with my family at a family get together. Checked out this new place because of all the great reviews on Unilocal, and I am very glad that I did. When I first walked in I was greeting my a very friendly young girl who described every donut they had in their display case. Wonderful customer service skills. She had and showed the true aloha spirit. I tried the cinnamon roll, crème brûlée, cookies and cream, cookie crumble, lilikoi, strawberry, and maple bacon long john… yes I said bacon! All of it was awesome. So much flavor! Wish I could’ve fit more in the box but they didn’t have any huge paper bags with handles or bags in that case.(I would have purchased a paper bag or even if they sold a reusable bag with their logo and name on it, if it meant I could buy more to bring back home with me.) Therefore, I was limited to how much I could carry. Almost forgot the box at the TSA check in too. Glad it was still there, and they TSA workers didn’t eat it or throw it away by the time I went back to get my box. Other flavors I didn’t get to try, fruity pebbles, nerds, bubble gum, frosted animal cookies, banana or pinapple fritters, filled malasadas(I prefer them to be fresh out of the fryer and not sitting out), the list goes on! Definitely will be back during my next visit.

After much hype and anticipation, I finally made it to Holy Donuts. I had tried a few times in the past and missed them due to their previously elusive hours. The first thing I noticed this time was a much more often and longer(open) business hours sign. Before coming, I have heard some bad things about the customer service here– how bad it was. I am happy to say I had the exact opposite experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a young happy smiling girl. I didn’t see anyone else working, so she may have been the only one there at the time. I must say it isn’t often you find teenage kids that give good service. Most of the time they seem like they would rather be anywhere else in the world, and not actually working and helping people. The girl not only greeted us right away buy stepped to the front of the counter and explained every donut in the case. Did I mention great customer service?! Having just finished lunch(I demanded stopping here since I have been waiting so long), I sadly could only 2 donuts to sample. This being Hawaii, when it comes to donuts, there are some we take very seriously– the long john and the malasada. These are benchmark donuts which represent your store, like it or not. The long john was not your typical«local style» long john. This was fancy schmancy Bavarian cream filled long john with homemade chocolate ganache on top. To top that, was some weird sparkly glittery type distant beads. Aesthetically, it looked great. Almost enough to warrant the exorbitant price. However, it wasn’t. The long john was good. Not great by any means, but not junk. Unforgettable, definitely not. Would I order it again? Probably not. There are a bunch of others I would like to try first. It wasn’t my new«that’s my go-to» donut. The malasada… oh the malasada. I have been reading other reviews of how great they are, and one person even said the best in the state, right along side of Leonard’s…Come on son!!! If you EVER put a malasada up on a pedestal that high, it had better be orgasmic malasada goodness. This was not. This sadly was a not so well take on a «Tex’s» malasada, which tbh, I don’t care for anyway. If you are into heavy dough heavy weight heavy sugar, this is the malasada for you. If you are into light-outside crispy-inside gooey, perfection malasada, stay away. You will be disappointed. Would it have been better if it were fresh out the oven?, maybe I little bit. It still wouldn’t bump the review up to delicious though. So there you have it, two not so great reactions from probably the two most famous donuts here in the islands. I will return again to try the other styles, in which I will be glad to re-review. I do agree with all other reviewers before me though in that I believe the prices are sky high. These are higher than the extortion type prices you would expect to pay at a high end resort like Ritz Carlton. This, however, is not the Ritz Carlton, this is the very back nook and crannie in the back of a dilapidated and mostly forgotten open air strip mall in which there are as many vacant spaces as there are open ones. The prices cannot stay this high and sustain the business to survive long. I hope the owner reads this and re-thinks their pricing structure. It would be great to see them stick around, but with these prices, I have a feeling there will be many many one and done customers. This review is a 2 and a half. 5 for service, 2 for price, and 3 for flavor thus far. I will be back for revenge.

Holy Donuts, BATMAN! This place has some of the most amazing donuts I have ever eaten! We stopped by here several times at the request of my sister, while we were on the Big Island back in August. The employees were all friendly and greeted us warmly and with a smile. They had some fresh malasada samples waiting for us when we arrived. We tried a variety of donuts including: the crème brûlée donut, nutella donut, Italian sweet cream donut with chocolate ganache, pineapple fritter and banana fritters. Each and everyone one of these were amazing and fresh!!! We especially loved the banana fritters and crème brûlée donut. They were so delicious. Price wise, they are a little more pricey than the donuts you may find on the mainland, but they are so worth it. I highly recommend getting the donuts we tried, you will not be disappointed!!!

I saw this place on a Sunday when we were in the area, but they were closed. When we came back to drop off our snorkel gear, we stopped in to get some donuts. It is a cute shop with painted pictures on the exterior, and the workers are very friendly inside. The donuts are a little pricey for the(albeit delicious) glazed pieces of dough that they are, between $ 3 – 5, so I’d definitely recommend getting the unique flavors as opposed to the plain ones, as the prices for each are around the same. We picked up 7 donuts, as the deal was buy 6, get 1 free. My favorites were the crème brûlée — topped with real burnt sugar pieces — and the lilikoi, which was sweet and just a little tart. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area!

I came here twice for our vacation at the big island. The first time I stopped in around 2 and almost everything was gone so I ended up trying a malasada. Which is like a donut hole with sugar at $ 2.50. Two days later, I dropped by around 930 before heading to Hilo and got the crème brûlée and chocolate ganache whipped frosting filled donuts. Each were $ 4.50, which is a bit pricey… However maybe because it’s Kona, and freshly used quality ingredients justified the price? Very delicious and heavenly like the shop name. I figure why not since I was on vacation but if I lived there I wouldn’t splurge so much.

Yummmmmmmmm! These donuts are heavenly! Yeah… see what I did there? :) I had been wanting to check this place out for a while so I stopped in after a delicious meal at Hayashi. I only intended on getting 2 donuts but they all looked so good I actually ended up with 4. Upon walking in I was greeted by a very nice woman. I think she may have been the owner but not entirely sure of that. She took the time to explain every single donut to us which I thought was awesome. I went with a bavarian cream, a circus animal cookie, a smores and a Captain Crunch. But wow! These things were super heavy! They felt like they weighed a pound each! Packed with yummyness! I was shocked at the size of these puppies. I paid around $ 15 for 4 donuts I believe. Sounds steep but it really wasn’t for these donuts. They are very special, definitely not your average. I really enjoyed every single one that I sampled! They were very good and very fresh. I do have one complaint but it is minor. The cereal on top of the one donut was quite stale. I suppose that can’t be avoided though because we did go in towards the end of their day so maybe it had been sitting for a while. Not sure what happened there but maybe it’s not normal. Other than that I loved everything about this place! I will definitely be back when I am craving another donut! See you guys in an hour :)

The name fits this place perfectly! It’s holy delicious: P Hahaha. It’s behind Kona Marketplace right at the entrance from a paid parking lot. The donut shop is pretty small but there’s a big outside seating area on the side with cute donut paintings on the wall! They have plenty of samples you can try. These donuts are pretty huge with many delicious choices. If you go later in the day, they run out of certain flavors, but they’re always making fresh batches! I really enjoyed their malasadas. If you don’t have time to make it to the other side of the island to Tex Drive-In, Holy Donuts has the best malasadas you can find in Kona. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming as well! So sweet. I highly recommend trying out Holy Donuts!

Holy donuts! At least, that’s what you’ll say when you try these crisp and fluffy rings of doughy goodness topped with gourmet glazes. The shop is small and tucked in the back of the Kona marketplace on Alii drive, but don’t let the size of the shop fool you — they bring out fresh offerings every hour, and sell out of items pretty fast. Prices are a teeny bit high, but the doughnuts are tasty enough to make up for it. The girls behind the counter are very friendly and helpful. Check them out for sure!
