Big Island Pizza

Delicious pizza and a few beers on tap. If they had a bathroom I would give them 5 stars

In the words of McEnroe — a 12″ pizza that is $ 18, you can’t be serious! At this price point one can have foie gras on a mainland pizza.
The pizza tastes good but it’s wasn’t gourmand. Avoid

I was back in Kona so obviously I had to come back to Big Island Pizza. I wish we had a place like this on the mainland and make a point of getting a meal here every time I’m on the island. Probably some of the best pizza I’ve had. Crust is crunchy and not at all greasy, sauce is homemade, and all the ingredients are fresh.
I had the Caesar (love the addition of sundried tomatoes and the creamy sauce) and split the Spicy Arugula with my mom (but swapped the salami for sausage).
My dad has heart problems and is on a very restrictive diet and Mikey (the owner? Manager?) was SO GREAT at accommodating him and the chef made him a special calzone without cheese and with lots of veggies and grilled chicken. Even if you have dietary restrictions give this place a try, my dad loved his meal!

Stopped by for lunch today. Shared a New Yorker (pizza) with a friend and we were both very satisfied with the pizza. The standout ingredient for me was the cheese: it was very certainly a cut above your average chain pizza cheese. The garlic was just right, not too much, but enough to add a nuance to the taste. The meats – sausage a pepperoni – were (again) not your run of the mill meats. We both noticed that the quality ingredients made for a truly sumptuous pizza. For the pizza, I give i five stars.

Best pizza in Kona. We ordered the Spinach Pesto and the Big Island. Great pizza baked in a brick oven. We are definitely coming back. This is how all pizzas should taste.

If you are visiting the Big Island, Don’t miss this pizza. We ordered primavera and roasted vegetables pizza. Out of the world!!!

This is a small, extremely welcoming venue with really good pizza and a nice selection of beers on tap that feels very much like a neighborhood place. Alas, like so many great eating establishments on the Big Island, it’s hidden in a strip mall.
We ordered a spinach/​mushroom/​sausage/​eggplant. The two of us devoured one and ordered a second. Crust could use a bit more personality, but beyond that, awesome.

This is by far the best pizza I’ve had here on the island and I’m born and raised here. You want delicious pizza, come here Local brew on tap and pizza being made in front of you. Also, the best ranch and freshest selection of salads.

We ate here only because it was close to Costco – where we filled up with gas before returning our rental car.
This is not a place you dine at if you want a great view or a stocked bar. However, if you want a really good pizza, served by friendly staff, don’t miss it.
I had the BBQ chicken pizza and it was delicious. A great choice for a pit stop near the airport.

This was soon good! Fresh salad and pizza. Was so great to find a place that felt like home. Both employees and customers were so friendly. The pizza had fresh mozzarella and awesome crust it was perfect!

I absolutely LOVE this pizza! The crust is to die for and the toppings are so yummy. It’s one of those places you’d never think would be good based on it’s location but man on man; it’s delish! The service is always hospitable and the pizza is always on point!
It’s located in the industrial district near Costco. There aren’t many tables in there and it appears they do a lot of take out orders. They do have some beers on tap as well. Service is super fast which is an added bonus. The table next to us got a calzone that looked AMAZING and will be my next try on my next visit.
If you like thin crust pizza, you can’t go wrong with this place.

My partner and I walked in here kinda close to closing time on a Friday. We were greeted with a friendly no hurry attitude. Probably the most welcoming service we had during our visit on the Big Island.

We shared a Primavera Pizza and a Garden Salad. The pizza was really good. Definitely a high quality, made of the best ingredients pizza.
Would come back to Big Island Pizza for sure next time we are here. Especially given the convenient location near Costco (gas)!

We had 6 adults in our party and were surprised that the large was only 12 inches. So, a little pricey for the size. In either case, the crust was nice and crispy which is how I like it. The thickness was just right-​not too thin and not too thick doughy. I recommend the Maui pizza — the smoked ham and pineapple was excellent and it went well with the marinara sauce. The cheesy flat bread was great for the kids-​ages 2.5 and 4.

Laid back atmosphere with perfectly thin hand tossed pizza! My husband and I were able to split a pie half and half, and they had no issues making the custom order. Delicious!

Great tasting pizza, definitely recommend New Yorker and BBQ chicken.
Downside is that its a little pricey for a smaller pizza.

The place is small and a bit out of the way but well worth the effort to find. The pizzas are fresh and well prepared and the salads exceed the expectations of the most stringent critic. The staff are friendly and helpful. I bet yow won’t go just once.

Not gonna lie… My Husband and I tried about 5 different pizza joints on BI since we moved here from the Bay Area California and Big Island pizza Kona is by FAR thee… and I am saying thee BEST in da West!!! Lol
The dough… and the oven bubbles on the pizza crust is what you want for the crispiness! The thin-​ness is perfect… flavors POP for sure! And very good ingredients. We had a 12er size… Half spinach pesto and New Yorker! All I have to say is da buggah is BROKE DA MOUT kine! Soooo good I nevah even take a picture of the Pizza! WE WILL spread da word on dis pizza place and let da whole aina know this is the place to go if you’re in the mood for some bomb pizza!
Will definately be back to this place when on the KONA side as we are moving over to da Hilo side… We hear there is a B.I.P on da Hilo side we will have to try tho too!!!
Expensive but worth it! Wish they get a biggah size than the 12er!!! We ordered two.

Since when is a large pizza a 12″ pizza? Spent $ 40 for two large. Our group still hungry…;(

Good food. Okay service.
Big island pizza has a nice but small assortment of sandwiches, salad, calzones, and of course pizza.
The combinations are flavorful, the ingredients are good quality, the pizza /​calzone crust is the perfect thin and crispy outside with the right balance of chewy goodness inside.
The service is a bit slow. Don’t expect to be checked on often.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place where we could eat and grab a few beers before catching our flight back home. Stumbled upon this place thanks to Unilocal!Was a little hesitant to try because it was pretty empty.
But I’m so glad we did!

The waitress I could tell was new, but she was very friendly. I asked her which beers were popular, because I wasn’t too familiar with the beers they had on tap (which by the way, were mostly Local beers! Support local!!) The chef recommended which ones I would probably like and also let us sample some! And I think I found my new favorite beer (Big Wave)!
We ordered the Big Island and it was soooo amazing. The crust was perfect and the veggies were all fresh. I wish I ordered one to-​go.
Next time were on the island, definitely coming back. Keep it up guys!
