Maxi’s Costumes

There a local business, thats been retailing costumes for many years. Their prices are reasonable and the quality is awesome! The wigs and the costumes are a huge selection. After Halloween they switch over to a Hawaiian retail store keeping the culture alive so I feel this is a good business to shop at.

I live on Oahu and come to Maui to visit family. Back in 2014 I shopped here and was simply asking about a few products that she carried. she was really nice and helpful and while talking to me she had put into her register all the products I was asking about. I could not see what she was doing because she had all these delivery products and stands on the counter giving her barely enough space to work from. When came to sign she started asking me questions. As I signed I took a second look because the first number had been barley visible as I had shown my credit card theft department later. I bought 4 small items $ 4.00, $ 9.00, $ 9.00 and $ 13. All was in this huge black bag instead of a small plastic one and she fixed the total or so I thought. She gave me an itemized recipt with the correction from a different machine saying she was having problems with the one she had used. I figured ok there was a power outage. I found out later I was still charged even though I kept the signed $ 97 receipt which looked like $ 37. My credit card company could do NOTHING. WHAT!!! I called her to fix this and no answer several times. Left messages. She gave me her home phone # in case I had any issue and nothing! BUYER BEWARE… I found out she supplies costume makeup for hula dancers on Maui and they too have been having issues with tricky overcharges she distracts you, gives you the barley visible receipt, hands you back wrong change or says you gave her a different amount. Con artist! I was told from someone that they only got partial the products they paid for in a large box. She acts nice but rips you off. I also got 6 cookies instead of 8 at another place. They took the box in the back to tape it up and told me as a courtesy they gave me 2 free. Bull liers I should have opened it right there. Scammers!

I believe this shop is only open during Halloween, not quite sure. In any case I went there and the lady was late. I’m a very patient person so I waited. I waited for about 15 minutes before the lady showed up, others longer as there were people already waiting when I got there; some left even.
They have a lot of stuff here.
Pricing wise, very expensive. Walmart quality costumes for a jacked up price. I ended up just putting something together myself.

I think this is a seasonal shop. It was pretty well equipped with Halloween costumes, wigs, masks, face paint, accessories. I tried on an interested 2-​in-​1 costume which was priced around $ 40. Not a bad deal considering it also came with the accessories.
The staff was a helpful and offered to pull other costumes for me when I decided to pass on the initial one I had tried on.
