If I could give a negative star I would. A few wks ago my mom gave a $ 20 bill for her purchase and got the wrong change from the woman who claimed that my mom gave her a $ 10! Crazy — like she would even try to cheat them out of little money. She started arguing with my mom and so she left feeling cheated. Yes we patronized this place for years but after this incident we will no longer be customers. SKIP.

Good ‘ol Ah Fooks. The store is a lot smaller due to a huge fire that destroyed the spot they were in for years. It’s a favorite of Maui’s elderly shoppers. They carry a nice selection of local and Asian foods at good prices. They used to sell a killer fresh fishcake paste which my mom would doctor-up and make deep fried fishcake dumplings, but I guess the seller from Oahu stopped making it. They were the sole distributor of the now defunct No Ka Oi sausage and cottage rolls, which are sorely missed. Ah Fook’s also carries the famous red Maui Hot Dog. Damn they’re expensive! TIP: Ah Fooks participates in the Maui Stamp program(collect enough stamps and redeem in-store for discounts, like an old school loyalty program.) They also don’t charge sales tax to people over 65. Hours of operation aren’t the greatest because they’re old school(they’re open 7-days a week but close around 6 or 7pm.) OVERALL: Friendly and affordable place to get your local and Asian food necessities.

I’m so glad I stopped by here today after the gym. I had first went to Paradise Supermart(see my review) in hopes of buying some groceries/food, but was disappointed. I decided to try out Ah Fook and boy am I glad I did. The store is clean and well managed and stocked. The prices are SUPER reasonable and their selection of Japanese/Filipino/thai items were great! I finally found the green curry paste I was scouring this island for! Good looking selection of prepared foods in the back. I tried their tuna musubi which was so delicious! This will definitely my go to place for Asian groceries!

Favorite stop in Kahului. They’ve been at this new storefront for about five years, but have been a part of that shopping center for around 40 years. People are friendly, they carry good selection of local and Asian foods(especially manju).

Love shopping here! Nice local people. They have bento’s to eat, mochi, sushi(cone & maki). You can get your breakfast, lunch or dinner there with those bento’s they sell. The meats and poultry are locally grown, no steroids or un natural fed animals. They have local ingrediants, local groceries, and other things you may need to cook with. Canned goods, drinks, vegetables, frozen products, bread… you may want to remember what you paid for the same items at Safeway or Foodland cause Ah Fooks can beat their prices!!!

Located in the Kahului Shopping Center. I always need to stock up on my portuguese sausage before I come home. This place is on the way to the Kahului Airport. A great selectiton of Hawaiian goods to bring home, but I come for the No Ka Oi brand. They even have them frozen and have inexpensive thermal bags for sale, if you don’t have one.
