Went to order and not knowing they only took cash I had to cancel my order because I only had my card. But they were kind enough to offer me a free plate on the house! They are so awesome! I’m definitely going back!

Loved our garlic shrimp and coconut shrimp dinners — each with 2 scoops white rice and some lettuce for crunch, with a squirt of creamy dressing. Ate in the gravel parking lot overlooking the surfers. Easy to find from the airport on our way to our hotel.

My husband & I wanted something different for lunch. He mentioned food truck, I said let’s go! You will find 808 Plates on Beach Road, just be careful when you pull off the road & go back onto the road, cars go real fast! Mind you first time here! I ordered the Ribeye & oh boy when we got home the plates was impressive in amounts of meat & Korean Chicken(hubby’s plate) taste of the ribeye is on point, just enough salt, I cook without salt so I tasted it. The pieces of ribeye were good size & had plenty! I like some fat on my steaks & they read my mind perfectly! My hubby shared 1 piece of Korean chicken with me, yes ONLYONEPIECE!!! That chicken was onolicious! Salad dressing is onolicious too!!! Can’t make out what kind of dressing it is but it’s nice, light & creamy. Next time I order my ribeye I’ll ask with no salt & see if they cook it for me that way. Prices for my Ribeye was $ 12.00& Korean Chicken $ 10.00

This place is legit. We tried the garlic ahi katsu, poke & coconut shrimp… I could have had 3 more of each.

We ordered the Rib eye, garlic ahi Katsu and the Korean chicken. It was probably the most comforting and best meal I’ve had in maui. You will not be disappointed!

The truck is next to the popular Geste truck and I wanted to try this spot out. Got the korean fried chicken and the seasoning was delicious!

Shell just on the tail, not split or cleaned. Perfectly cooked and great garlic taste, not sweet(good thing). It’s garlic shrimp — not rocket science people. 3 stars — A-ok… Maps out here do NOT lead you to trucks, the park across from college along the bay road This is an edit to an earlier post — sorry about the confusion…

When you see a food truck sitting on the side of a busy road(Kahului Beach Rd), it’s only natural to pull over and park on the ditch to see what’s up. I ordered the Garlic Ahi Katsu as recommended by them. I really liked the garlic which made it flavorful. The fish was well deep fried which had a nice crunch on the outside and juicy on the inside. Even the rice was nicely cooked which seems to be the case everywhere you go in Maui. What I didn’t like was the amount of mayo in the meal including the vegetables. The mayo pretty much covered everything except a bowl of rice, although I’m sure they would’ve put less or put it on the side had I asked.

This is a GREAT food truck serving some ono fish! Wait time can be kind of long but they’re cooking it fresh when ordered and it shows. Might suggest calling in an order and then cruising down Harbors to pick it up versus ordering at the truck.

We heard great things about a neighboring food truck but they weren’t at the location when we arrived so we went here and I am so happy we did! After actually having the rival food truck a few days later I am surprised it has so many crazy reviews. Geste leaves the shrimp shell on which I am not a fan of. 808 Plates has amazing flavor, I love the sauces, and they remove the shell from their shrimp dishes. I highly recommend you try both trucks but at the end of the day I find 808 superior!

My first time at 808 and I had the wasabi ahi katsu. I had a quick stop over from San Francisco, to Maui and onto Oahu for business. I never want to waste an opportunity to eat delicious local food. I have never had katsu before however I was pleased by the lightness of the ahi and the slight zip of the wasabi. I would definitely return on my next visit to try more options on the menu. The portion was very generous and I could have shared it. However, I was by myself and ate it all! Thank you Unilocalers for the help in guiding me and other diners to this fabulous food truck! The service was great too! Thanks for the suggestions.

Geste was on vacation so we got garlic shrimp here instead! It was delicious, buttery, sweet and savory, and slightly tangy at the same time! Amazing flavor! !

My family and I were originally looking for Geste’s shrimp truck, but they were off for the week. We found 808 Plates truck, and we’re so happy we did! We started off with 1 garlic shrimp plate($ 12) that came with 8 large de-shelled garlic shrimp, 2 scoops of rice, and a side salad. The shrimp were amazing. We ended up getting 4 more plates of garlic shrimp and finishing everything in minutes!

If you love ahi, like I do, you will definitely fall in love with this food truck. The garlic ahi katsu is cooked to perfection with its crispy fine panko breading on the outside, but still moist and juicy inside. Most places over cook their ahi katsu, which causes it to be dry and very unappetizing with no flavor. However, this is never the case here. They top off the garlic ahi katsu with an amazing homemade garlic mayonnaise sauce.(Like the cherry on top of a chocolate sundae.) The shoyu poke is packed with so much flavor, and the texture really feels like it «melts in your mouth». Make sure to call in your order ahead to make sure they don’t sell out before you get there.(And that way you won’t have to wait as long too.) Also, don’t forget to bring your cash!(It’s cash only.)

My first ever visit to a food truck. We ordered garlic chicken and ahi Katsu. Garlic chicken was good. Although I’m a big lover of chicken, I loved the Katsu even better. Fish was so fresh and succulent !! Loved it. Katsu is a must have here.

I love street food so it was a no brainer to come here. The guys were super friendly, and patient because we had no idea what to eat. Food took about 10 minutes. We got the tuna belly, ahi katsu and garlic shrimp. Plates were generous and food was fresh. My husband said«I could eat that ahi katsu every day». It was delicious, and I sort of want to go back before we leave! Tip: get there early before they run out or close!
