Repeat customers we were for our extended June Lake stay. This coffee is yum! And if you are familiar with the area it’s the only yummy coffee for miles around, I mean a lots of miles. She has optional mylks so hubby got a medium almond mylk mocha which is his fav. I tried it and it was very good! Not bitter not sweet but just right! I got a double shot americano and it was perfect. Basically a big cup of lightly watered espresso. It did the job for our little hike around the lake :) We came back the next day to get caffeinated again and it was just as good, so we went back on our last afternoon before heading out of town. Consistent, quality product and yummy. I like to call this place Trout Pout for some random reason :) I wish the lady had a lot of lip Botox!

I was visiting June Lake with my mom for a few days and we were both craving coffee and we went here to get iced coffee and a hot brew and it is delicious and probably the best iced coffee I’ve had in a while. the lady working was super nice too and they have amazing bear decorations. definitely coming back wish I could give 6 stars :-)

Good coffee, good lattes, good chai. What needa more? Also, I was 45 cents short because it’s cash only and I didn’t realize until I already ordered. The owner told me not to worry about it. She was very nice. A very lovely patron behind me paid my 45 cents anyway. Nice people everywhere in June Lake. =)

I like getting the drip coffee and grabbing one of the fresh bake goods here. I also like the cozy indi coffee shop feel and enjoy reading the local paper.

I will never patronize this establishment again! I went in at 1pm to order a tea. I went back up to the counter to ask for the wifi password and the husband proprietor gave it to me. About a minute later the wife proprietor came to my table to say that they close at 2 so I shouldn’t plan to «get into something» on my computer and that they charge $ 2 for a half hour of wifi. What??? Why didn’t the husband tell me that? Why am I being warned to leave when it is only 1pm? Well, after feeling completely unwelcome I packed up and left! Really disappointing.

Great coffee. Understaffed. Long wait. Dirty, third-world food prep. I saw one person handling raw food with her bare hands, then work the register and handle cash, then go right back to making a burrito. That’s disgusting. She would literally wipe her hand on her pants, then go right back to making food. On top of that, they microwave everything!!! Go there for a great cup of coffee, but spare yourself the food poisoning and eat elsewhere.

Coffee time! Not Starbucks!!! But delicious! Different and super yummy! Great coffee and excellent service! Pricing is good! No added«convenience fees» for being in the mountains and a seasonal business. They have a great variety of baked goods and excellent coffee and tea selections! If you are ever in June, you should stop and treat yourself.

This place is one of the reasons we come to June Mtn instead of Mammoth. Warm & welcoming. Homemade coffee cake, nice lattes, and includes free petting of the coffee shop dog. Judy is very friendly and children are welcome.

Feels like walking into a cozy family room. Great people here– such a refreshing change from big resort towns. This kind of thing will keep me coming back.

I have had better. Had a latte and it was not that great but i needed the caffeine. They better get their game up before someone else comes in and takes over the coffee game in june lake. My colleagues had the brew. He said it was not worth the money. I would hate to see a starbucks come in(i hate starbucks) and take over the coffee business in june lake. Right now trout town joe can do what they want because they have no competition. We keep coming back because we have NOCHOICE. Cash Only and the hours suck. Open till 2pm. Like a sucker i’ll be back for more because i have no choice except make my own coffee in my cabin.

Whenever I’m up here, I make it a habit to come here. My wife and I enjoy the coffee, pastries and atmosphere. The operators are very kind and helpful. I also like the fact that they display local artists here. This place is so pro-community that I wished there were more coffee houses like this in Southern California.

Cool little spot with great coffee(i got the drip) and when i was there some fantastic pull-apart cinnamon creation. As a certified sticky bun stalker i can tell you this was a top-notch treat. We got it to run, but looks like a good place to stay awhile.

A lot of the reviews here were made prior to the new owner taking over. This is a great place, not just for coffee to go, but also for an extremely pleasant low key environment to sit, read, chat with locals, the visiting tourists, as well as the friendly owner. Friendly dogs were welcome as well. Internet access is available, in an area where that is rare, the coffee selections are good, the muffins and coffee cakes are fresh baked and excellent. The smoothies are fantastic on a hot day! The breakfast burritos and sandwiches are delicious and fresh. Yes you do have to pay cash, but if you cant carry a couple of bucks for your morning coffee or breakfast in such a remote area, well, shame on you! In an area that is rustic, this is a gem of a find.

One shot latte was described as great and delicious, by my resident expert. We also got the blueberry muffin, and the coffee cake. Both were excellent and baked in-house. The blueberry muffin could have had a few more berries but was still one of the better muffins. The coffee cake had a generous sweet, cinnamon crumb topping on a tender cake. They also have WiFi but I didn’t try it. Note it is $ 2 for I think a half hour.

Cozy coffee joint in June Lake. Delicious hot cocoa with steamed milk. Hits the spot on a cold, yet sunny morning. Cash only, no big deal.

***CASHONLY*** Are you kidding me. This is 2011! The«Barista» told me to go to the General Store and get cash from the ATM at a $ 3.00 fee. Poor customer service for an establishment in a struggling economy. Espresso and other drinks purchased were mediocre at best. Save your money and go to the Starbucks in Mammoth, CA.

Pros — * The owner was nice. * The coffee was good. Cons — * The breakfast burrito was the worst I’ve ever had. Note to owner: I wish you the best of luck. Please don’t take advantage of the fact that you’re one of the only games in town and continue to serve such bad food.

Coffee places in downtown June Lake are not a dime a dozen, and before the latest incarnation of Schat’s arrived, this was the only place to fill up before an early morning hike or backcountry ski. Because competition is not that tough, Trout Town Joe’s is a little pricey($ 4.75 for a large mocha, for example), but if you’re a drip coffee kind of person, you’ll find the variety of coffees a nice touch, and the price reasonable($ 2). I was dismayed to find they only had half and half available for coffee(in California no less — quelle heresy!), but the staff will bring out the lowfat/nonfat milk for you if you ask. While breakfast options are basic — a few bagels, danish and croissants, they also have an interesting sounding lunch menu, and an art gallery of sorts featuring local talent. It’s got a folksy, keeping it real vibe, and if you’re into supporting local businesses, it’s definitely worth stopping by on your next trip to June Lake.
