I’d be very cautious about buying a dog from Debbie(Debra) Young. She claims on her website that she socializes and pre-spoils her puppies but when I questioned her about the type of exposure the dogs had had, she confessed it was really just her and her husband and a few cleaning people once in a while in the house. She became angry with me when I questioned her choice to put my dog on a non direct flight(almost doubling the travel time). If you do choose to buy one of her puppies be very very clear what type of flight you want your dog on. Her email communication was downright rude and she refused to ever speak with me on the phone. When my dog arrived it was completely terrified and would spoil herself when I tried to take her outside. I have spent over a $ 1000 in behavioral therapy so far trying to rehabilitate her(desensitize her) and I haven’t even started obedience training. Initially Debbie agreed to take the dog back but because of her fearfulness I couldn’t put her back on a plane. After several emails Debbie agreed to offer some compensation($ 400) for her training because she realized this situation was less than ideal and she did not provide a healthy dog. Additionally, my dog has a malocclussion of her jaw and may require surgery so her teeth don’t puncture her gum. Of course if you read Debbie’s contract, this is not covered under the health warranty. For the price you pay for a dog from FernRidge Labradoodles, these issues are inexcusable and the way Debbie interacts with you is so harsh, it’s ridiculous. If you are seeking a pleasant experience and a healthy dog, I’d stay away and try to find a breeder locally.
