We love coming here, kids and parents alike. For the parents and grandparents there is lots of nostalgia here with things from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and onwards. Lots of good memories. For the kids it is a huge store with something for everyone. They have everything from apples to pies to candy and lots of puzzles and soda. And by lots I mean LOTS! Yes it is cash only, but they have ATM’s in case you don’t have cash with. No problem.

My daughter asks to go constantly! They did an expansion last year and have hot air balloons floating inside– COOL! Most of the candy you had as a child is availability along with bulk sizes. They also have soda pop with great titles– booger slime, cat pee, vomit, they’re all delicious. Cash or check only!

Everyone owes it to themselves to take the drive — straight down Highway 169 — at least once in their life to visit this place. Just keep driving, past Jordan until you see the bright yellow picket fence — then start to slow down — quickly you will come upon the humongous yellow Quonset hut building that is the state fair of candy stores. I promise once you step inside, you will have not been to anything even remotely like it. ****IMPORTANTNOTE: THISPLACEISCASHONLY(closed for remodeling until May 2016) I’ve visited several times and it is always a delight to rediscover all the candy from your childhood(I’m particularly fond of the Mallo Cups and Planters Peanut Bar). It’s hard to image a candy that is made that they don’t carry. When you walk in — grab a basket, or better yet two, and start the stroll. If it is a weekend, expect large crowds(think state fair but without the tank tops) so plan to be patient. There is a lot to see. This place is larger than a football field and there are several aisles but you will most likely just have to go with the flow of the crowd. In addition to the thousands of kinds of candy, in season they sell apples,(I think that’s their original business because the receipt says«Jim’s apple farm») pies, pumpkins, sweet corn and other farmers’ market staples. They also have unpopped popcorn and a huge selection of soda(you can mix or match or buy single bottles). In fact just orange sodas alone they must have a hundred different choices with an equal amount of root beers, colas, and fruit flavored drinks. Also they must have about 500 different varieties of jigsaw puzzles — mostly up high above the candy — so its a great place for those who enjoy that pastime. ****IMPORTANTNOTE: Bring LOTS and LOTS of CASH Warning — do NOT go there hungry unless you have a suitcase full of cash in the trunk of the car. You will go home with about 1,000,000 calories but hey — you are reliving those cherished childhood memories. Plenty of parking in the big lot.

We are sad to say that Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store(AKA Jim’s Apple Farm) is closed for the 2015 season.( Unilocal will incorrectly say that the store is open) Mark your calendars. The tentative date for opening in 2016 is May 26th! We will be making many new changes inside the store this winter and spring and will be anxious for you to see them come May! We will also try to add many new products to continue best serving you. Thank you for your patronage in 2015 and we look forward to serving you in 2016 which will be our 38th year in the business!

If you’re a fan of older candies this place is great. They have the popular brands, a large selection of gummy candies bears, worms etc, gummy bears that are bigger than the normal(not willy wonka size but you get the idea) Store is more long then it is wide and divided into sections. Front section is the pop cases, fresh apples, pies and fudge. Near the middle is saltwater taffies, jerky’s, a lot of baking and slow cooker style foods, and the back 1⁄3 is the candy. They try to keep items together by style they even have a nostalgia table with the older candies. I wasn’t able to find the ones I was looking for but the cashier was very kind in asking if they had it. One drawback is they don’t have scooters for those who are unable to do a lot of walking, however they were very kind in providing me a chair which they allowed me to carry around with us so I could sit when needed. I don’t know that they will do this for everyone. I would recommend your first visit to not be looking for something specific, take time to see everything they have and then maybe do(if able) a 2nd trip with specifics in mind. Do be prepared to spend a bit at the store and also time as you will want to see everything.

This place is awesome. Toting the largest candy selection in Minnesota, the largest root beer selection in America, and some amazing apple wood smoked beef jerky– this place is a must!!! Rob is the owner — he’s a solid guy! He admitted to me that he didn’t know about Unilocal. He’s never owned a cell phone or computer, but what he lacks in being informed about technology, he makes up for in candy knowledge!

More than anything else, this place is amazing for gifts! Especially for people with whom you might not have a super close personal relationship. There are tons of soup mixes and baking mixes and pancake mixes, there’s a HUGE root beer(and other soda) collection, and countless jellies and jams and preserves. Very few things are house made(just some fudge and a few baked goods), but it seemed like a lot of stuff was local, which is neat. Store is cash-only, with an atm available. Oh, and in case anyone is as nerdy as my boyfriend, the tardis in the back corner is inaccurate.

Fun for a sweet-tooth like me. You need to stop by at least once in your lifetime if you live in Minnesota. Quite a drive from the cities but worth it, especially if you have kids(or are a kid).

Absolutely a MUSTGO place in Minnesota! My husband and I spent 2 hours in there just looking at everything and deciding what to get. I would recommend going with getting a case of 24 bottles of soda– that way you can try several different kinds, because you’re going to have a tough time choosing with all they offer. Not only do they have tons and tons of candy, there are other things like jams, sauces, honey, and several kinds of popcorn(including different kinds of wine popcorn, yes, WINE popcorn! I got Cabernet), puzzles everywhere, and a freaking TARDIS. You can go inside. It makes THE noises. Seriously? Love this place and want to make it a tradition to go. If you haven’t gone yet, you need to. Yesterday.

I went and was like a kid in a candy store while spending just under $ 200 for candy, gumballs, apples, pickles, horseradish dip, caramel apple and nut pie, meat(beef sticks, bacon), bottled sodas, marinated mushrooms, etc. Pro: tons of selection, fun, not only candy, spicy beef sticks(quite spicy), friendly staff Mod: I wish everything was local to at least the midwest – much of these(example: stonewall kitchen) I can get at specialty grocers. Con: cash or personal check only, location(for me), spendy(paying for the nostalgia)

Wasn’t really as cool as I thought. Off the highway… so it is a nice place to go and stretch your legs. Caramel apples are fresh. Restrooms were fairly clean but old.

This place is part of Jim’s Apple Farm in Jordan, MN. Great place for a stopover if you’re heading down 169 to Mankato. They have a great selection of European candy and large novelty sized portions of popular candy like Mike & Ike. If you grew up in the 90’s, you will feel like a kid again browsing their selection of candy you grew up with like candy cigarettes, candy button strips, Warheads, and Bubble tape. The prices are pretty decent, as well.
