In town for a couple of weeks and have tried them twice. Pretty good Jamaican food… has a lot of flavor. The only thing i will hit then on is the portion of chicken. A little more chicken would have given them 4 stars.

The food is horrible. Platters are loaded down with ‘filler’ dry rice and very little meat. The oxtails were burnt and overcooked. The food was not fresh, as it was quite obvious that it had been left in pots for days and simply re-heated over and over again. Nothing was fresh or tasty. I will not be returning.

First things first the jerk chicken is EVERYTHING times 10!!! Great spice to it(feels like back in Mo Bay) and portions are great and large size! If you can’t handle true authentic jerk chicken spice(get curry chicken). Ordered food ahead and as soon as I arrived it was ready(no long waiting). I will definitely make a trip back here a few times this summer for great authentic Jamaican food! Must visit if you are living in or visiting the Harford county area

Yes, this is a glorified snowball stand that sells Jamaican food. The food is accurately spiced and yes you will wait a bit for your food. There is no dining area except 2 picnic tables, but its the food that matters. My wife likes spicy food and even she thought it was almost too much spice. We both got the jerk chicken large dinner. The chicken was a bit boney and could have used an extra piece to compensate for the bones. The cabbage and red beans with rice was dead on with the taste/flavor of other Jamaican restaurants. Likewise the fruit punch tasted homemade and similar to others I have had in the past. I will definitely go back to try other food as they were out of almost everything when we got there.

I was so excited to have some West Indian food in Harford Co. Wat U makin Jamaican did not disappoint. We got 2 large platters to feed my kids nieces & nephew that were visiting. Had the stew chicken & jerk chicken. They were both excellent!!! The put a lot of sauce(next time I’ll have it on the side), but the flavors were right. The real deal with authentic spices. The owner was very nice and gave free snow balls to the kids. Then we bought some grape nut ice-cream(a home made west Indian ice-cream). I felt transported to an island after eating that meal, and brought back some childhood memories. No more fast food on my busy days. Now I can have some home cooking from Wat u Making Jamaican.

Okay so this is not fast food. Now that we have established that — it’s going to take you 30 minutes or more to get your order if you don’t call ahead. Remind yourself of that when your chicken bone breaks in half it’s so tender. And much like Jamaican food stands on the island this place is more a snowball stand with a carry out window than a typical American restaurant. On top of that it is usually a one woman show with her taking the orders, cooking, and preparing. If you don’t care for the service or the wait time here, Jamaican food may not be for you. And save yourself the trouble of a trip to Jamaica because nothing there is speedy either. I plan to revisit both. Just not when I’m in a hurry.

Who would have thought… a Jamaican hut in downtown Joppatowne? If you like Jamaican food you will dig this place. Not familiar with Jamaican food? Well if you don’t like spicy this might… no, this will NOT be your new favorite hang out. The food does take a while to prepare and despite the estimated 10 – 15 minutes wait time given when you ordered your food you should probably give your self 30 –45 minutes or just call in your order ahead. We had a little Jamaican buffet, jerk chicken, shrimp stir fry and jerk pork. You might want to ask for a few extra napkins with your order because if you have an all American palate like me you will be sweating after a few bites. The pork was probably my favorite. The bones of the chicken got in the way and the shrimp, while tasty were small. You are looking at about $ 11 per plate but you are certainly given a full portion for your buck. I will be back.

This is a mom and pop carry out place. There are 2 picnic tables to eat at. The food was good. They were unorganized and promised food in 15 minutes. Took an hour. Couldn’t figure out where to order. You had to yell and no one showed up. 1 person ordered a snowball and waited in 15 minutes and gave up and left. If i didn’t have a Groupon i would have left. Too bad, the food was actually descent.

I agree with the previous review, this place is great and staff is friendly. Keep in mind it is little spicy, but not over done.
