Rita’s Italian Ice

I hate ritas its too expensive and its a rip off the cones are too small not enough parking

This is my first Italian Ice… This has to be one of the best desserts I’ve ever had… I will come back again and again.

This location opened when I was in high school (more than ten years ago — eek!) and I have been a few times every spring/​summer since then. Like Morgan said, it can become an obsession. Sometimes just the one or two times a season is good enough for me, but then again it may not be enough. They used to have the frequent visitor cards and for every 8 treats, you get one free. This made me make sure I would go often enough to get free treats! Now they have caught up with technology and you can get the Rita’s app on your phone, which is better because I could never keep track of my cards and would end up with four different cards with various number of punches on each one.
I have been twice since they opened this spring and have tried the new Starburst strawberry ice with vanilla custard for my gelati and this new flavor is delicious! So good, that I had to go back two nights later and get another one! However, while I was at the window about to order, I noticed a different flavor custard that I have never seen before — coffee! So I asked for a sample and then immediately ordered a gelati with coffee custard and vanilla ice.
I feel like all Rita’s locations are busy no matter where you go, but some of the places may be faster than others. Either way, if you come one night after a softball game gets out, you are going to be waiting awhile, but it will be worth it :)

Obsessed. Obsessed. Obsessed.
Every year people go nuts when the local Rita’s open and I’m always like What. Is. The. Big. Deal? A few years ago my friend took me there to try it and I was like ehhh, okay… let’s go to Starbucks and get a frap.
2 years later (and since I have one conveniently located too close to me) I started to give it another try… getting the same thing I got the 1^st time… a gelati with chocolate ice and vanilla custard… and something happened… I became obsessed! Obsessed! I even went 3 days in a row! And this is major for someone who considers herself to too in control 99.9% of the time… so wow this place really got a hold of me.
I must admit though, I am quite boring. I ALWAYS get the same thing! And truth be told I’m not a huge chocolate fan… I just love the combination and all the other flavors I’ve tested are too sweet. Oh I lie, I went out on a limb and tried a vanilla gelati with twist custard (I know, so different!)
Can’t wait till Rita’s opens in the Spring! Let me go check that date…
