Tropicana Bar & Grill

The wife and I came here. The burgers and fries was good, not great but ok. The staff was outstanding. Only negative I had was its a small building with only a handful of tables and very limited parking.

I have ALWAYS loved going to Tropicana. I recommend it to many friends. Tonite I went and the service was very disappointing. We (a table of 4) got greeted as soon as we were seated and brought our drinks. We then waited 35 minutes until someone came back to take our order. We watched our waiter talk to all of the other tables around us and never came back to us. He apologized when he returned and said they were super busy (not anymore busy than usual when I am there). We ordered, got our food, and proceeded to sit and visit. Another waitress had come up and put a sign on the table saying there was people waiting for us to leave but no hurry at all. So we finished eating and finished our drinks and planned on having another drink until our waiter came up and said that there was another group that had been waiting about 25 minutes for a table and asked if we could go elsewhere and talk. We would have loved to do that if we had not already waited 35 minutes to order our food. Needless to say, we will probably not be going back for a long while.

1^st time going last weekend. Our server had a dip in his mouth! Nasty!!! Most likely won’t be back if they let the server do that what else is ok there. EWWW

Pretty good food, and service. I had the Buddha burger, was messy but worth it. Probably best in Joplin imo

Came in for dinner and a beer! They just got hit by happy hour, and tables were all dirty. Bartender was running around like a chicken with his head cut off! Not a huge selection of craft beers on draft, but the food was Amazing!!! Husband had the snake burger, and I had the Luau Cow. I think we just came at a bad time on a Thursday night! Nice patio area to hang out too!

Food was great. Had the snake burger with fries. Our waiter was the greatest. We were upstairs and he ran up the stairs and slid down banister to better serve us. We were for a bachelorette party.

The new tropicana is a huge step in the right direction, this is what Joplin needs. With a large wrap around bar, 2 spacious patios, 2 balcony’s with a bunch of seating, A fire place, and touch tunes. The food here is the same from the old location, and just as good. With a full bar, and decent craft beer selection, and a cocktail list the girls seem to love. All up a great place to hang, and grab some drinks after a work week.

The kitchen stays open late enough to provide excellent burgers after work and I kind of love the place. I mean, they have a burger with homemade pimento cheese. It’s awesome.
Also, good booze, good music, fantastic balconies for traffic/​people watching and clean bathrooms.

Were visiting from Chicago & were meeting my cousin from AR for lunch! Unilocaled this place & although didn’t see a menu the reviews were outstanding! Walked in to a new building, nice & clean & yes… Non smoking. The menu was different & loved the variety!
I opted for the poppy salad which had popcorn on it!!! Mmmm WOW! Everyone loved their picks & we ate every single bite! Usually we take to go boxes home… Non needed this time!
Also ADDED bonus my cousin & I LOVE hot sauces they made his sandwich & the chicken on my salad extra HAWWWT with a «scorpion sauce» that they have in back but its not on the menu!!! BONUS & SCORE! Outfreakinstanding!!! Ahhhhh-​mazing!!!

My girlfriends and I attempted several times to hit up Tropicana right after their grand reopening in the new location but it was jam packed every time and we always wound up heading to our old haunt, Kitchen Pass. Now that KP has closed, we decided to try Tropicana yet again and this time we got in with ease because we came earlier on a Friday evening. Very glad we did, because they have extremely limited seating for actual dining, which (along with higher-​than-​average prices for beer on tap) is the reason for my 4 star review instead of five. This building is gorgeous and unique for new construction and definitely adds a lot to this section of Joplin’s Main Street. They have a fun nautical theme and huge octopus mural on one wall (cooler than it sounds). I love the two tier layout inside and out, despite the inner «balcony» being just a bar (rather than more badly needed tables). Burgers are better quality making the prices seem fair. My patty melt was terrific and next time I’ll upgrade to the onion rings my friend ordered, because they have a fluffy beer batter that is spectacular! As I mentioned earlier, beers on tap are a little higher than most other places in the area… however they have a good selection so it’s a bit of a trade off. Our young male server had an amazing memory and was an excellent server, even though he was very busy after an hour or so. I LOVED that this is not a «sports bar», no stupid games on TV screens and a decent mix of music playing. As the night wore on, I noticed the crowd changing quite a bit but to me this doesn’t seem like much of a «meat market» type bar at all… while my friends and I are all married thirtysomethings that was great for us, but I saw some extremely dolled-​up young chicks who looked pretty disappointed that it wasn’t more of that type of bar. Just a tip!

Love the burger, it was phenomenal. Also the non-​smoking rule gets a HUGE thumbs up!!! The layout of the restaurant was a little odd with the narrow walkway around the upper level… we went to watch march madness and were disappointed at the relatively small and few tv screens. Not a problem… just not a great setup for sports if that is your objective.
Our server was great and friendly and we will definitely go back sometime.

Friendly staff, fantastic food! Under 21 until 9pm so we could take our teenager with us for dinner. The spinach dip is AMAZING!

Brand new building and Non Smoking! Their burgers are delish as are their appetizers! The Philly Rolls are my favorite and I actually eat them as a meal! My husband gets the calamari for an appetizer and then a burger for his meal.
They have pretty good happy hour specials, although they could be better. My biggest complaint is the lack of seating. They have a second story balcony but there are no tables up there, just a bar type area, so if you want a table so that you can talk to your friends, there are only about 8 tables so don’t go at peak eating times.
We have been there twice in two weeks and I’m sure will be back many more times!
