Watch out. Had a prepaid guaranteed reservation. Got there early. They said they had sold that room weeks ago. Pretty much unprofessional and dishonest people own this place and it should close down.

Microtel here is the new Motel 6. As others have said the walls are rather thin, and you can hear almost everything going on. The usual little amenities are missing, there is no shampoo or conditioner, no coffee maker, no microwave, refrigerator etc. The breakfast is very limited. The beds were reasonably comfortable and the staff is OK. NOTE: If it’s important to you, know that the handicap rooms only come available with one bed, and there is no elevator in the building. There actually is only one handicap parking space for the entire property.

The rooms were clean and the service was friendly. Unfortunately, we arrived during a storm and the power was out. The staff wasn’t sure what to do bc their system was down and we had made a reservation. We had driven 14 hours so finding a new place wasn’t an option. They let us stay, as they should have. It was very difficult to see anything bc there were no where near enough emergency lights. A lot of safety and backup procedures were lacking and you would be screwed in an actual tornado.

We found this place on a cross country road trip. While stopped for dinner in Tulsa, Ok I used travelocity to get the«up to 40% off secret hotel» deal. We ended up with Microtel of Joplin and saved $ 5 on the sticker price. I should also note that we elected our secret hotel to be 1 star rated so neither of us had high expectations going in. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was small but clean. I checked and there were no bedbugs, no stains on the sheets. Everything seemed in order. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the TV worked fine. My only concern was that the entire back wall of the room was a mirror. A little odd, but not a huge deal. It made the room feel just a bit cheaper/hourly than I’d like though, if you get my drift. Anyway, we slept well, received our wake up call as scheduled. We had already paid through Travelocity so all we needed was our breakfast and off we went! The breakfast was nothing special, a few hot options, a few cereals, juices. But, like I said, if you’re in the market for the cheap one star hotel, this place really should outdo your expectations. When in Joplin, we will be staying here from now on.

Came here with cheapest price. Get what you pay for. Only 2 small pillows on bed. No privacy as can hear everything from surrounding rooms and hallway. No creamers for coffee with breakfast only powdered creamer. No blanket or bedspread on bed. Paint peeling and poor plaster job in bathroom. Room is clean. Staff nice.

The room seemed like it was empty for a long time and was a bit dusty. The towels were dingy kind of damp and stained and I’m pretty sure one of them wasn’t even washed. I would have been more forgiving of this but when I called and asked for clean towels the dude told me to come get them myself. The room smelled like curry but I like curry. Also the pool is always closed if you care about such things.

Well let me start by saying I’ve stayed here before but it has gone way downhill. The walls are really thin and you can hear everything. They start cleaning rooms at 8am and you can hear the vacuum all the way down the hall. The bed is comfy but linens were stained. The towels were really stained and rough. Won’t stay again.

Microtel Joplin MO review dated for 6.11.13 Intro: was booked on Travelocity at the last minute and was the cheapest one listed for the area we needed to be at. Check in was effortless. Room detail(negative): Very small. They must call it Microtel due to the micro sized rooms. No coffee pot or minifridge/microwave. Breakfast selection is limited. Walls are paper thin, could hear everything. Décor is very dated, toilety backed up very easy. Desk chair was uncomfortable. Creepy mirror behind beds looked like a mirror they use to spy on you at the mall. It was the whole back wall of the room. Bathroom was too cramped for two people to be in at the same time. Really bad showerhead. Room detail(positive): Wifi connected right away with no password needed. Beds were nice and high and I sleep good on high beds. Overall: Would only recommend in a pinch if noting was available or you were very cash-strapped. Recommended: No

This place should be burnt to the ground. To bad the tornado didn’t get the worst hotel in Joplin! Bed hard, no coffee maker etc. Smoke in halls and in rooms. Guy at the desk was concerned about my dog barking while he should be concerned about the oldest roughest towels ever. No amenities. Only reason I stayed here was because it was away from the noisy business area that the other hotels where located. And the town place suites right across the street was booked for the night!

Worst hotel I’ve stayed in in a while. Room was nice and clean, but i could hear EVERYTHING in the surrounding rooms. If a door slammed shut a few rooms away, it shook my walls. I had to listed to housekeeping clean every room on the entire floor while I was trying to sleep. It doesn’t help that there is a 1−½-inch gap under the door. Price was only about $ 10 less than other hotels in the area. Not worth it. I would never stay here again.
