Crown Video

I have been to this place a handful of times to get movies, lately I don’t see myself coming back. A lot of the times they have old movies that I have already seen or that is on Netflix. But say we find something we really like we go to check it out. There is always a line. Once we got there the man who was renting the movies to us forgot to tell us when the movies were due so we went home thinking it was five days. We watch all our movies, but one. We had put it in the Xbox to watch it and the movie won’t play, when we went back to the video store to tell them. They let us pick out two more movies for free. When we went to go check out the lady told me there was a late fee for one day the total came out to be 5.75. It was a lot for one day! But I paid it regardless. When we went home one of the movies was yet again broken and lefted it unwatchable. This is honestly the fourth time this has happened. I doubt we will be coming back at all.

Crown Video is the old school video store for Joplin. I admit that half of my love for Crown is pure nostalgia as I’ve been going there since childhood. Their prices are not the best in my opinion, but the selection is actually pretty good. I like that they can look up a movie and see if their other locations carry it. Then they’re willing to hold the movies for you if you are quick to pick them up. Crown is more credible than a lot of the fly by night chain stores in this area (Movie Gallery, Family Video, etc). They hire decent workers and compensate them fairly, which is another reason I feel good about taking my business to Crown instead of the competition. Most of the time, a Crown employee will be able to answer your movie-​related questions intelligently unlike the competition; I for one appreciate that. One Crown store recently closed (West 7^th) so I’ve got my fingers crossed that the others will somehow stay afloat in the current digital entertainment revolution.

Great local rental place where you can return to any of the three locations. Good prices, great customer service in my experience, decent selection at the Range Line stores at least, and they sell Jones Soda to go with your movie.
