This is a small but very interesting museum on the history of Jonesborough and the Chester Inn itself. Stories are displayed through informative signs, a wealth of fascinating photos, several artifacts from various periods, and creative displays that include using the building’s loadbearing pillars to demonstrate aspects of a period’s architectural style that is discussed in a sign on each pillar. Three rooms upstairs — dining room, parlor, and a bedroom — are beautifully restored to Victorian style. I wish I remembered her name, but the docent when we visited was amazingly warm, friendly, patient, and knowledgeable — she was a joy to engage with. The museum is free but runs on donations.
