Sonny’s BBQ

Made a trip to Jonesboro because I wanted some all you can eat barbecue and a lot of it. Sonnys did not disappoint. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and had the friendliest server named Shylo. She was a pleasant person, very attentive and an asset to your establishment.
We started with the best sweet tea ever. I appreciate those extra large cups thank you. Next came the Redneck Egg Rolls. The name threw me off but hey who am I to judge. Made of pulled pork, coleslaw and cheese deep fried in an eggroll. Melt in your mouth crispy deliciousness. My boyfriend ordered all you can eat baby back ribs. Not on the menu so ask for it. The corn nuggets were so good. I had all you can eat Sweet and Spicy Ribs. Needed a little more seasoning but good none the less. I got full rather qyickly. Sonnys still got it!!!

Ribs were fabulous. Salad bar needs attention. Many veggies looked spoiled, had to ask for lettuce that was entirely empty, food looked old. For $ 9 salad bar it was not worth it. One member of the family ordered the all you can eat ribs and they were great and the waitress kept bringing them to table.

Stopped in for a quick evening dinner. We were greeted by the staff upon walking in and escorted to our table right away. A waitress took our order within 1 – 2 minutes. Had the redneck egg roll as an appetizer and the smokin gun sandwich with mac & cheese for an entrée. Excellent food, waitress was extremely courteous and friendly. Only thing I would suggest is to add to the beer selection, especially the imports. Only import was Heineken. Other than that, everything else is too-​notch for a BBQ spot.

I absolutely loved the prices, atmosphere, customer service and most of all the great food. I’d highly recommend for anyone to come here to eat if you’re into BBQ.

I’m a bbq snob and often a difficult customer to please on purpose just to test the quality of the wait staff and i have to give them 3.5 stars. The family sampler would truly feed a family of 4… with leftovers. Though not a fan of the Kraft style macaroni and cheese or the mountains of fries and Texas toast the ribs, smoked wings and sliced pork were delicious. The brisket was drier than i like but I’d eat there again.
The service was excellent from the cheerful greeter to our server, Bill and another server who truly has the most welcoming smile and we weren’t even her customers! Bravo! 4 stars for service.
The only low point was actually a very flamboyant, VERY loud and extremely vocal male server who wears cornrows to work??? and didn’t seem to care this wasn’t his personal hangout. It wasn’t engaging hospitality it was as if he were center stage and we were his captive audience. Did you know doing 70 on a city street isn’t really speeding or that it should be excusable if you’re already late for work and only a block away from your job? Well I do now because i had to hear his story throughout my entire meal… or the server who wiped the dripping bottle of sauce with her finngers then licked them clean on her way to the table thinking she couldn’t be seen. Or the server filling the ice bucket by placing it on the floor… tell me she didn’t put it up on the counter to re fill the beverage station
But despite that in a pinch id try it again.

Hands down delicious BBQ! Husband had the smoked wings… wow they were amazing! I had the brisket, also delicious! Fried okra is in a corn bread batter and is sooo tasty!!! Yall gotta get in here and get you some great BBQ!

I am usually in sync with the reviews that Mick D writes but I have to disagree with this one. I do understand that this is a chain restaurant and there are rules to this thing. This is so far off the mark of what’s good BBQ in this town. With places like DBA, Fox Bros, and Fat Matt’s this place offers mediocre BBQ at best. The sides are from a box or a can and the place just doesn’t even look inviting. Too many other choices to waste my time here.

Stopped for a carry out order. Venee helped us. Extremely nice, gave awesome tips and made even a carry out experience positive.

This is good barbecue! Look, this isn’t some back-​country shack that kills their own hogs and painstakingly loses sleep over the curation of their meats. But the people here know their barbecue. And there’s not a whole lot of fuss about it. And that’s what I like about this place. Decent meats. (They need some hotter sauces.) But overall good stuff. Always served fresh and hot. And staff is always friendly. Plus, it’s very easy to do low-​carb here (for obvious reasons). I’ll happily go again. Holler if you’re coming with.

Not bad bbq the sweet sauce is amazing I will return again it gets to be a pain with too many kids but other than that good food

I got there at 11:00am and was the first person there. It took 8 minutes to get a waitress and place my order, which is a little slow at lunch time. I ordered the brisket & salad bar. The brisket was over cooked, dry, and not even warm; it was obviously left over from yesterday. The salad bar was only ok. They did not have Brunswick stew like they used to. The worst bar-​b-​ques I’ve had in a long time. Not worth the money.

Just getting a chance to give this location a big thumbs up. We had guests in town for Easter and we all had a taste for bbq but didn’t want to cook out. My husband ordered two of the family feast –comes with smoked pork, beef brisket, BBQ chicken, and ribs. Also includes three sides, a gallon of tea or lemonade and garlic bread or corn bread. Everything was cooked to perfection. The balance of the natural flavor of the meats with the savory seasoning and smoky bbq was delicious. They included three bottles of bbq sauces that were finger licking great! The service was easy, we called the order in and the server said to ask for her by name on pick up. They showed us the order on arrival to make sure everything was good to go. The value was right on the money and it was enough for all 8 of us to eat. Even on days two and three we still had great leftovers and I will be back sooner than later.

Wow!!! Just had some really good sliced smoked brisket!!! Enjoyed it thoroughly — I’m a fan. Service is great as usual — always friendly and quick — will be back

Our table was dirty upon arrival, and the server was slow and didn’t visit our table frequently at all.
After ordering desert, we waited over 15 minutes, which is longer than it took to get our entrees.
The food was good.

I don’t know why I keep going back there. Sometimes the ribs are not good. Sometimes they’re dry and not fresh. Like today, the ribs were not good. And have they changed the spices on these ribs? I must’ve got a taste of the dry rub ribs which I can not stand. Why not just stick with what works? The sweet and smoky ribs. Well, the barbeque beans are good and the garlic bread when fresh.

Great brisket and chicken. They appear to have lost their beer license even though they have beer on their menu. BBQ without beer leaves something to be desired.

Another good American place to eat! :)

I love the ribs here

After the terrible customer experience of Mt. Zion Papa Johns; the gregarious and congenial smiling employees of Sonny’s saved out appetites and our night. After greeting us at the drive through window with a drink in hand and a smiling query of «extra sauce tonight?» Our order was correct, prompt and the way food service should be.

Nice, friendly service and tasty barbeque on Atlanta’s South side.
No frills, just some good ‘olé Southern food with plenty of iced tea or beer to wash it all down with – yummy.
