Our family has been seeing Kate Foley at the Summit Center for over a year now, and she has been helping us through some tough times. Kate is a pro. Not only is she knowledgeable, efficient, and empathetic — we count on her to be an objective listener, and to be straight-forward when offering helpful feedback. She has been available during the occasional urgent calls and we(including my skeptical teen) have all grown to trust her. Although this is a shout-out for Kate, I wanted to add that my experience with the front desk staff has been nothing less than friendly and professional.

We were referred by our Blue Cross primary physician… My daughter was having adjustment issues and wanted to speak to someone objective, which I thought was a great idea. Her first counselor didn’t really help. She chose another counselor. At first, she enjoyed the second counselor. However, from what she told me, the counselor was giving her advice — telling her what to do and what not to do — instead of allowing her to come to her own conclusions. It is my understanding that a counselor should encourage clients to think for themselves. Later, I learned that the counselor had passed judgment on me, as the mother without even having met me. She also told my daughter — in so many words — that she thought she was naïve and foolish. My daughter began having anxiety attacks at the thought of seeing the counselor and quit. I once worked for a mental health center and I don’t think the counselor was objective or acted in a professional manner.

ABSOLUTELY the WORST facility on the Planet. It’s disgusting and dirty, I barely wanted to sit on the chairs! Too bad the chairs were the BEST part of this practice!!! My daughter, who’s 15yo, did not like her new psych Dr. It wasn’t personal, I’m sure she is very nice, however she just didn’t find her ‘style’ to her liking. We actually cancelled a follow up appt because she seemed to be stressed about going to see her. Unfortunately, her anxiety had come back and I called to get her an appt with the other psych Dr in the facility but they WOULDNOT allow that! They won’t change a Dr because of ‘that’ reason. Ummmm, isn’t that the BEST reason? If you aren’t comfortable talking to a Dr about some of your most personal issues wouldn’t you want to talk to someone else? Kathy the office manager is the biggest bitch I’ve ever dealt with and I work in HEALTHCARE!!! The very first time we were there we got ‘into it’ because we were in the waiting room and no one was calling us back; I waited until the door to the back opened and asked why we hadn’t been called back yet. Apparently we didn’t check in at the mystery counter around the corner from where you enter, so our appts were late!(Our last Dr we just waited in the waiting room to be called back at our scheduled appt. time). Anyway, on the phone, Kathy gave me the impression that maybe if we didn’t cancel the previous appt we wouldn’t be in this situation. I had told her that if we weren’t allowed to see the other Dr we would have to find another practice which she was ALLTOHAPPY to say«that’s what we should do»! I stated the only other option would be to take her to the ER and Kathy said if her anxiety is as bad as I’m saying it is that”s what I should do. That tells me this facility has no emergency appts either. I guess they must have enough patients already and don’t care about the new ones and clearly Kathy lacks the empathy to understand the frustration and fear a parent can feel knowing that her little girl needs to see a Dr. in the first place! Just an FYI, my degrees are in Social Work so I have experience with facilities and how patients should be treated. No one should be treated with such disrespect in a time of stress, nor should patients be treated as if they are cattle being herded into rooms. I think I heard a literal ‘cha ching’ and saw floating dollar signs over Kathy’s head! To be fair, there was one counselor that stood out, I hope she gets the hell out of there.

We are very disappointed with the office staff at this business and how they handled a recent mishap. My wife had an appointment that she accidentally missed and we were told there was nothing we could do and would be billed $ 50. We tried speaking with them multiple times including the day of the incident and asked to have the charge waived as it was a first time occurrence, but they refused and were actually quite rude about it. Not only that but they said that we were no longer welcome to see the doctor – as if we would have anyways. This is supposedly a business of healing and therapy, treating all types of patients suffering from depression and anxiety, PTSD, and grief or loss. One would think they would have an ounce of compassion or understanding especially this being a first time offense. We both work in the medical field and understand missed appointments but even our offices waive the first offense regardless of the situation. I simply cannot endorse or recommend this business to anyone and personally refuse to use their services any longer.
