I was searching for king cake in Illinois and found a festive version at Milano Bakery. They have traditional icing or cream cheese; I opted for traditional. The cake was made with the bread Milano is known for, but this version of their bread had a cinnamon swirl and colorful sugar coated icing. This was not my favorite king cake, but if you heat up the slice for 10 – 15 seconds it’ll work. I’m still giving Milano a five star rating though, because I also tried their paczki. I had the fresh strawberry with cream cheese and the Atomic paczki. The Atomic paczki was mash up of chocolate, strawberry, banana, and whipped cream. The fresh strawberry with cream cheese paczki tasted like a strawberry shortcake cheesecake hybrid and was utterly delicious. I will definitely being going back for more paczki in the future.

First of all, the staff is incredibly nice. I was looking to get a Kermit cake created for my 3 year old son. They were patient and created EXACTLY what I was looking for. It was not only adorable, but delicious and affordable! Since this, I have gotten all my birthday cakes, etc. from them. They also did a blackhawks cake for my husband’s bday and he loved it! I will never go anywhere else. I enjoyed my experience and items so much, I actually partnered with them for my job. They are my go to as an event planner at a university. Yum! I can’t wait to order again!

Awesome bakery. Fresh bread, great cakes and pastries. Authentic Italian cookies. Very reasonable and great quality. My family loves their fresh donuts and coffee cakes. Nothing like an old school bakery that houses real bakers and can bake anything and everything

A well-known bakery that’s been in the area since Moses wore short pants. And from the looks of its surrounding neighborhood, you can tell that it must of been here way before the area got ghetto and sketchy. I was surprised to see that they offered a lot more than just bread.(check the website out to see for yourself) I ordered a french silk pie for pick up and it wasn’t ready yet when I got there so I munched on a banana boat and cannoli while waiting. Service was pretty good as I got the sense that it was still family-ran business. There were quite a few people patronizing the bakery, which surprised me considering that the location is bad and out of the way. Prices were high here as my pie came to a little under $ 10 while my cannoli and banana boat were $ 2.62. You pretty much pay the same here that you pay at your grocery store for their bread, which I didn’t think was fair given that there’s no middleman cost when you buy it from the bakery. The pie, despite being made the second I got there, wasn’t as great as I expected. Wasn’t all that flavorful, the crust was too thin, and it was hardly sweet. The hours weren’t very accommodating to me as they pretty much close down by the time afternoon hits. I probably wouldn’t go back but, its nice to see an old Joliet institution still going on strong.
