Worst service ever. 15 minutes to order drinks. 20 more to get them. Then we ordered dinner. An hour later the apps and dinner showed up, for half of us. The other half never ate. Took 45 minutes to get the bill. 2 ½ hours later we left(finally). Three still hadn’t eaten. Nothing but excuses from the staff. Oh, and the credit card machine didn’t work, so it cost me $ 3.50 to use the ATM down the street.

Only one animal product free option: Spicy Bean Burger. I don’t like beans, but wow, was this good! I got extra pickles, and sweet potato fries. I was over charged by $ 1, 8.95 vs 9.95, and our food took a while… But later on a Tuesday. Food was great, service was great, so I’d recommend, but probably closer to a 3*.

Stay far away from this place. Trust me, it’s more disgusting than any customer knows

The service wasn’t good. There was very few customers in the restaurant. I ordered meatloaf and it came out 10 minutes after everyone got their dinner. I ordered meatloaf with mashed potatoes. They brought fries instead. A friend in the party ordered potato soup. They brought her chicken pot pie and asker her if that was ok. The appetizer we ordered came with the dinners. They brought one pen for us to use to sign our bills. What do you expect in Johnstown I guess.

I keep trying to enjoy this restaurant but I just can’t anymore. We had reservations for a party of nine. I went 15 minutes early because it seems the last several times we’ve been there something always goes wrong. And of course, no one knew of any reservations. After the waitress yelled at all the co workers about no one telling her about any reservations(loudly and in front of me), after about 15 minutes someone finally started to get a table ready. Sat down, got our drinks, server took our orders, all good. Our food came out a few plates at a time, but a good five to ten minutes between. My 83 year old Father’s order didn’t get placed so he sat while everyone else had their food waiting for his. The waitress then brought his sandwich minus fries and said the cook wanted to at least get his sandwich out and his fries would be right out. He ate his sandwich and still no fries. The fries came at the same time as the check. But at least his fries were hot, as everyone else’s were cold. The manager did help out with the table in the beginning but after we were seated I did not see her again. As I’m not in the restaurant business, I don’t know what the answer to their many problems are, and I’d hate to see this business fail, but I’m done spending my money just because it’s close to home.

Having moved close to this restaurant we have been 3 – 4 times now. I can’t stress how unbelievable the chicken tenders are. Seriously the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve brought up some coworkers here too and they also raved on them. Mix and match your sauces to create your own customer flavor — and they’re OK with that. I had to ding them a star, as we were in on Friday night, and there was this *** super drunk *** girl dressed very inappropriately to begin with, who was dropping F bomb over and over, and the bar staff, nor management did anything about it. There were only a few tables occupied, so you heard every word she was saying. Perhaps it was the night we went, but all the servers and hosts were super SPAZZY for lack of a better word. They were yelling, and goofing off, complaining about having to roll silverware, and gossiping about random things. There is a huge lack in professional service here, and the staff could stand for a bit more training. The one thing is they have a great cider on draft that you can’t find hardly anywhere else. We haven’t strayed from the pot roast sandwich and the tenders, so we don’t have anything else to go off of. We still go 2 – 3 times a month up there. But if the service staff continue to act like 16 year olds, then we probably will quit going there. Could be part of the reason why there were only 2 tables at 2pm having dinner, and the rest of the place was a ghost town. Service is very slow, but you’re also no longer in Columbus, so I understand things will be a bit slower. But those chicken tenders are massive, and take time to properly cook, so plan 15 – 20 minutes before they come out to you.

Really wanted to enjoy this date night with my husband. The atmosphere is really nice and loved the architectural details. The food however was much to be desired. I ordered the meatloaf and was quite surprised that my «vegetable du jour» was a bowl of frozen cafeteria style veggies. This meal was not worth the $ 13 that I paid. Lacking a lot of flavor. Our server was very kind but slow and forgetful most of the evening. If the food and service quality matched the great look of this place, it would easily be a favorite. But, unfortunately for now, we most likely won’t be returning.

Food was decent. Service was ok, but took a few minutes for someone to greet us at 12:30pm during the week when there was hardly no customers there. Once we got service it was good.

We love this place! When my husband and I don’t feel like cooking, we go here! Close to the house, good food & drinks. They have specials too that are extremely reasonable priced. You can choose from a wide variety of food. Order as expensive or cheap as you want. You have to go check it out!

We recently attended a wedding reception here in their upstairs dining area. Everything we had was excellent. We will return to try their regular menu soon. Great looking place.

My wife and i visited this place for the first time last Saturday. We heard that a band we like(The lost river band) was playing there. We had a great meal and the place was packed. I had a ruben and my wife had the cheeseburger. Both were excellent. The atmosphere is classic old tavern. Brick walls and lots of wood. The curved upstairs bar is beautiful. They had a small but good selection of beers on tap as well. I will recommend this place to anyone.

My wife and I had the absolutely pleasant experience of having dinner at The Old Horseshoe. This is the best kept secret in Central Ohio. The food and menu was great, the service was extraordinary, and the facility, itself, was absolutely fabulous. Whoever renovated this building did a tremendous job of retaining the historical integrity, while creating a warm and comfortable dining experience. WEHIGHLYRECOMMEND!

I decided to give this place a try again after hearing that management changed. They added deals for every day of the week and changed up the menu. I wanted some tacos and they had them for a buck that night. I ordered 3 soft tacos and an appetizer of their animal fries. They brought them out and the fries looked interesting. I cut into them and they were a mixture of interesting toppings that I am not sure went together. I ate them and they were ok but not great. I then went to the tacos and there the disappointment continued. I realize this is a get them in the door deal but have a little pride. The tortillas were old store bought tortillas that hadn’t even been heated. The contents weren’t anything great or anything terrible but I think it told all that the edges of the torts were hard and cold. They still don’t have coke or Pepsi so it is a locally brewed knockoff. If I wanted to make my own cola I could do it in a sodastream at home just as well. I had such high hopes for this place and this is twice that they have fallen very short.

Always have good food and wonderful service. This place is a gem in a small town. The perk for my weekend way a steak salad(which is a Pittsburgh thing) and a good Cabernet.

Hopefully things have turned around for the shoe. My wife and I have been back several times in the past six months. Our meals have come out pipping hot and service has been greatly improved. I hope they can keep it up.

Even with the mixed reviews, I wanted to check out their food myself. The place is clean and I love the décor however, the food is horrible. Our party tried the meat loaf — which at that price should be a huge portion but what they received was a small sliver of meat loaf and half a plate of broccoli — definitely not worth the money. I wanted to try the macaroni and cheese, but they were out. A heads up on what was out would’ve been nice but I decided to let it go. The waitress did not seem very interested in serving anyway. So I went with a classic that no one could mess up, or so I thought — fish and chips. The fish was overcooked, rubbery and tasted like old oil. The fries were okay. So in the end, do your self a favor and spend your cash elsewhere. Maybe one day they will have better waitstaff and food.

Updated review; it’s getting worse. We decided to return last night. We wanted a quick dinner with a friend so we decided to come here instead of going into Columbus. I ordered the pizza, which is literally just a go-to because they don’t mess it up. I ordered a flatbread with tomato sauce, mozzarella, feta, roasted red peppers, and pineapple. It came out super bland. So I asked for a side of balsamic vinegarette to drizzle on top. It was still flavorless! How is that even possible? Husband ordered a pasta with shrimp. The pasta was lukewarm and the shrimp was cold. He said it upset his stomach. The bread was weird. Our friend said he was impressed with his meal. Our server was fine, but rather than complain about the food to her we just agreed not to return and paid the over-inflated bill.

Raw Chicken! Saw the poor reviews but we were hungry and thought we might get lucky… silly me! Nice waitress and apologetic manager but just can’t make up for a cool center in your chicken parm. Also out of meatloaf. Got a couple glasses of Merlot. No wine prices listed so I’m thinking $ 7 or $ 8…charged $ 10 per! Won’t be back.

We visited a second time in March, just two of us this time. Several items on the menu were unavailable. The food was just«ok», hopefully this is not an indication of long term quality. Service was slow, surprising as the venue was not that busy. Our waitress was less attentive than expected. Being a more upscale place than other local venues we were disappointed this time round. Hopefully this was just a one-off experience. We’ll give it another try before giving up on it. I like the option of eating local instead of going to Columbus. Suggestions: if something is unavailable on the menu don’t wait until we order to tell us it’s not available(or better yet reprint the menus, the waitress told us a couple of items weren’t made that day); train the wait staff to stop by their tables more often, tips reflect service provided or offered.

As a Johnstown resident, I was very excited to see our town get a new restaurant. Although a bit pricey, this is a great place to take a date, your spouse, family, and/or friends. They have a good selection of appetizers and draft beers and the atmosphere is really what we were looking for — not as much a bar as it is a restaurant and it feel like someplace I’d take somebody I want to impress. In fact, when you’re inside, it’s hard to believe you’re not in some fancy downtown area. The upstairs is more of a bar and on occasion, they have a musician or a comedy act. I’d like to check that out one day. They also have an outdoor patio upstairs that I would like to check out once it gets warmer. Our food tasted pretty good, we didn’t have any complaints. The portions were smaller than I expected. We were full when we were done, but we didn’t have leftovers. I guess you could say the portions were just right. The menu changes slightly every few months, so when you find something you love, you may want to ask if it’s a regular menu item or if it’s seasonal. We’ll go back because of the proximity to our house, but this will be a special occasion type of place, not a regular hangout. They DO take reservations, which may I recommend for a weekend night.
