I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it wasn’t a great or pleasant experience. I always want to support local but customer service was horrible. I don’t know if people had the day off or at lunch but they were definitely understaffed. Waited to try to get help for my daughter for almost 15 mins. That is just to long to wait then to finally get help and find out they don’t have their size. It’s like a dessert hours of labor mins of pleasure. Waited for ever once I got service was out in two mins. Don’t think I will be back here ever again and that’s really sad to say.

Went on a Saturday and was amazed at how busy they were. Awesome customer service. I went in with an idea of what I wanted, they measured my feet, made suggestions and brought out several styles for me to consider. Even though the place was vusyling, it was as if I was the only customers in the place because she took her time with me, making sure I was happy with my selection. I was pleasantly surprised especially after some of the other reviews I read. I love the old fashioned feel of a real shoe store. I will definitely be going back and recommending them to my friends.

HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE!!! DON’T WASTEYOURTIMEORMONEY!!! Unless you are a member of AARP. Then the staff might actually ask if you need assistance. But for the average shopper? Good luck getting anyone to help you, let alone even acknowledge you are in their store. I was in the store for at least 45 min, not 1 sales person asked how I was or if I needed help(there were about 3 – 4 on duty). When I did seek help, found an older male, think he was the owner actually, based on what I overheard. Asked for my size in diff color, but as he went to check, he checked on 3 other customers before going to the back room. Then when he returned he stopped to help another customer with her selection– so I had to walk over to him to find out about my question! His response was so flippant and full of obvious annoyance that I almost walked out right then. But unfortunately they had a particular Clark sandal I was looking for at a reasonable price. When I went to check out, the 15 yr old kid behind the register, obviously the owners son, was completely incompetent, untrained, and void of any rudimentary skills in customer service. He barely squeaked hello, fumbled with my purchase and didn’t know the return policy. He also didn’t thank me for my purchase as he handed me the bag because he was too distracted by another customer who approached the register. I’m returning the sandals I bought, found them online for $ 20 cheaper… and at least the online website thanked me for my purchase!!!

A whole lot of shoes Yorker Shoes first started in 1949 and I believe there is only this one store. It’s not a particular large place so the selection isn’t as huge as some of the shocking monstrous shoes stores in other places. What Yorker seems to specialize in is hard to find shoes. Not weird styles or bizarre colors but hard to find sizes. I have big, wide, mutant feet and often have trouble finding shoes wide enough to fit. York has lots of wide and even super wide sizes and I even saw a pair of running shoes that were size 16EEE. Now that’s a big shoe. Again, the selection isn’t all that huge and like almost all shoes stores it seems the women’s section is a whole lot larger than the men’s part. But there are plenty of well known brand and all kinds of running, hiking and dress shoes. Just might not have the particular type or color you want. The prices tend to be a bit high but there is a sales rack that people can pillage through. The guy assisting me was helpful without being pushy. Definitely not a store where I would buy all my shores but a useful place to check out on occasion.

I had the worst experience there yesterday that guarantees I will never shop there again. There were at least 3 – 4 people working the floor that day and only one other customer in the store besides myself. Apparently that customer and I were not important enough to break up their little gossiping session behind the register. I was not greeted when I walked in nor at any time was I asked if I needed assistance. And assistance would have been great because the shoes on the floor were a mess and not in any semblance of order I could figure out. I work a retail job myself and am well aware that basic customer service is not rocket science. Finally too frustrated at the lack of options available and ZERO customer service I received, I walked out. NEVER going back there again. I will bring my business elsewhere.

I have had sore feet for as long as I can remember, I have been to every doctor there is and they all seem to tell me something different, I pronate, I supinate, I have hypermobile feet with in tact arches, I have no arches… it’s tiring hearing so many conflicting opinions. I eventually found my way to Yorker Shoes and am so happy that I did. Their sales associates are very knowledgeable and when working with this one particular woman, she seemed on the fence as what to say about my foot, she was saying all the things I had heard but I could tell that she believed there was more… and rightfully so, all the MD’s I’ve seen have all said something different. So she brought out her boss, who talked with me about my issues and then examined my feet. He was very confident with his take on my mystery feet. He prescribed, I’ll be honest that the prettiest pair of sneakers — but I’m desperate, and I’ll be damned my feet feel so much better! Finally a shoe that fits and feels comfortable! Thanks so much to the staff at Yorker Shoe… I’ve already referred so many of my nursing friends!

Talk about rude– Rick must be the most arrogant person I have ever met. Why would anyone ever go to such an unprofessional place? Id rather walk on glass barefoot for miles than step foot in that business ever again. I am all about local business but Walmart puts this place to shame. Completely disgusted in this place. TERRIBLEADS too. Generic just like the selection of shoes.

They won’t be in business for long!!! I have very difficult feet to fit and will buy several pair if I like them and the fit. When I told the sales men my size and wanted to see what he had in my size he told me I had to choose a style because he would have to look on all the shelves to see if they had my size… then he lead me to the sales rack and started pulling off shoes and saying«do you want something like this, or like this, or. He didn’t give me an opportunity to answer … I was the only customer in the store but I had interrupted the personal conversation he was having with the other salesman and the cashier! I will never go back again…

Overpriced. Overrated. A wide selection of geriatric shoes. Nice Vera Bradley selection.

A shoe store that’s not a chain!!! Holy Shit Batman! It’s true. It exists and it’s great. Way the frick out here in Johnston(Johnston– Birthplace and epicenter of Big Hair since 1980) It’s a large, clean, orderly store with mens, womens, and childrens shoes. They are very helpful. They excel at fitting your elderly family members with comfortable supportive shoes. They have the most wide and odd size shoes I’ve ever seen. How many times have you seen triple-E shoes? The sale racks are full of great bargains. minus 1 point for the megabitch behind the counter and not having enough cross-trainers. Otherwise perfect.
