This place is great. The pizza crisps are so crispy and crunchy.yum. The veg pizza was topped with spinach, fried eggplant, cheese and tomatoe and the pizza itself was not too think or thin. Try it you will be pleased.

I moved to NYC and still visit here every time I’m in RI! Their pizza chips are the best! I can’t believe I was the first to post a picture of them, but feast your eyes(and your stomach)! Super friendly staff and great Italian bread and pepper sticks too!

The best bakery in all of Rhode Island! I am obsessed with their pizza strips! Their pizza chips are great and just about any sweet in the case is delicious, especially the peanut butter cookie. I could easily go on a crazy carb-bender here. Finally, Elaine, one of the employees, is such a sweetheart. WOW, it doesn’t get any better than the Original Italian Bakery!

Someone introduced us to the pizza chips… yup I’m hooked! The calzones are so yummy too(mini and regular size). Pizza chips come in red or white and both are delicious. Pizza slices/fresh baked rolls/bread and so many yummy desserts available too.

Of course the pizza chips are amazing. Just like potato chips, you can’t have just one. As a regular customer, I have have sampled just about everything. The italian bread is wonderful and love that they have whole wheat. Italian staples like egg & wine biscuits are always available. Now that they have added the pastries there is no reason to go to other bakeries. My favorite is a veggie round that they have available sometime. It’s a small pizza piled high with spinach, eggplant, olives and definitely worth a try.

The pizza and pastries are great from this place. I’ve tried pizza strips, pizza chips and eclairs from there. The eclairs are amazing, not to rich or sweet. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is the attitude of the staff. They seem like they are bothered when they need to help you. The pizza is so good though that I keep going back. Tip — call ahead if you need a box of pizza.

My go to item is the pizza chips. I just love the flavor and the crunch. Reminds me of old school slices but new school crunch. The location is very clean and the staff is always courteous to me. Try the Italian breads or the pastries you can’t go wrong. They take phone orders. The only downside is a very small parking lot.

Love the pizza chips!!! They have some of the best pastries and desserts… From Sesame Street cupcakes to cheesecake and cookies. chocolate chip cookie pies are awesome. Prices are competitive! Parking is the only downside as its hard to enter and exit as it’s a tight squeeze. But definitely worth it!!!

I was first introduced to pizza chips after attending a wine tasting where they accompanied the wine. I saw the menu and had to find the place myself and have been going back ever since! I went there yesterday to grab a few things including pizza chips for my boyfriend, who loves them! We got a day old bag of regular pizza chips($ 2/bag — reduced price and a steal!), jalapeño pizza chips, 2 calzones(one chicken parm and one meatball — they were on sale 2 for 1), a small Sicilian loaf, a large cannoli and a Zeppole — all together spent about $ 22. Not a bad deal. They do also have RI’s famous red and white strips — party pizza heaven. The place does get busy on weekends and parking is limited — about 10 spots but parking on the street is available but it is a busy intersection. There is a deli located next door, which I will eventually make my way to one of these days as the prices listed seemed reasonable. The staff is always very friendly and quick to ring you out as the place gets packed. This was the first time having their calzones — they were just ok for me, not terrible — not great. Everything else — no complaints. Do yourself a favor and get yourself here for the famous pizza chips and more!

I don’t know how I survived without pizza chips until now. I immediately fell in love with them. I want to marry them and make more little pizza chips. I tried the jalapeño and regular flavors, and they were both fantastic. Once I open a bag, I have to finish them. They have a great combination of a chewy and crispy texture, and the sauce is excellent. I also tried the pizza strips. They have the same great sauce as the pizza chips. They are a little bready, but that’s to be expected with pizza strips. The split Italian rolls are great. I also tried some mini calzones. The ones with meat were a little stiff to chew, but the ones with spinach were very soft. I recommend this place as a good choice for your bakery needs. If you like pizza from bakeries, then be sure to try the pizza chips. You’ll be glad you did. Be aware that the parking lot is small.

good, cheap pastries. I like that you can buy day old stuff really cheap. if you get the day old pizza chips they crisp up well in the oven. I liked all the stuff I tried with the exception of the strawberry Danish, topping wasn’t great. there was no cannoli the day I was there. I would definitely stop in again

All of the mentions of «pizza chips» is what brought me here. If you’ve never been here before don’t make the mistake I did and go on a busy Sunday afternoon. The place was packed, the line was moving fast and it was hard to get a good look at everything before ordering. The pastries and breads looked delicious, but we decided to go with a bag of red pizza chips, a bag of white pizza chips, a red pizza strip and a spinach pie. The spinach pie was huge and packed with spinach. It was really good. The sauce on the pizza strips was really, really good. It had a nice tang. The crust was just slightly thicker than I prefer, but this was a really good pizza strip. As for the pizza chips, the red ones were good, but a bit greasier than I would like. I wasn’t a huge fan of the white ones. I don’t get out this way very often, but I’d stop in again if I were in the neighborhood.

Dear Lord go and get the pizza chips. The first time I came here, I got a spinach pie(can we talk about this for a second? Pretty sure all that’s in it is dough, olive oil, garlic, and spinach, but it may be the most incredible thing I’ve ever tasted.) and got a bag of chips as a freebie. I was apprehensive, I admit. But roughly 10 minutes later, after I’d eaten my way through the entire bag, I was sold. The sauce is unreal, the dough has a nice crisp on it, they’re just plain ol’ addicting. I love going to this place. Their dough is incredible. Sausage and pepper calzone is incredible. When anyone says the name Johnston, RI, my first question is, «Have you been to the Original Italian Bakery? If not, go now.»

Holy-awesome-sweet pastry heaven. I got two turnovers, they’re as big as my head. A lemon square. And a chocolate thing I didnt catch the name of. The chocolate thing didn’t make it out of the parking lot. This is perfectly adorable little place with big pastries. Worth the trip in from Connecticut.

I love this place. They do not have ‘everything’ but what they do have is awesome. If you are looking for a daily bakery with a hand full of pastries and pizza and pies, this is the place. I have not had one thing here that I can find better anywhere else. They have awesome precises on their pizza, mini pizza, pizza chips(AMAZING!!!) and their pies and mini pies. The only thing more awesome, the flavors. Again, they do not have every flavor and combination, but what they do have, is … pretty damn good. Okay, Amazing! On the words of the native inhabitants… Wicked Awesome. So why not 5, well, they don’t have everything and there are a few items that I just have to have. But, that being said, this is the go to place.
