Central Nurseries

I visited Central Nurseries in early April and ordered several 5 – 6′ Rose of Sharon shrubs and a rhododendron to replace some evergreens we had removed from our yard. At that time, I was told a shipment would be coming in «this weekend.» We quickly had dig safe over and dug the holes in anticipation of our order. Weeks passed with no word from Central Nurseries. I called periodically and was told they didn’t know when the shrubs would arrive and since Rose of Sharon plants develop leaves later in the season, they wait to put them out. I called them every few weeks over the last months with little encouragement. I last talked with them a few weeks ago and was told my plants were «stocked» (I believe that was the wording) such that they were waiting to fill a truck before sending a shipment. I’ve had no word since from Central and it is now past prime planting time.
We have worked very hard on our landscaping over the years and have beautiful mature landscaping. We were planning on having a hedge of flowering plants to enjoy over the summer as a compliment to our other plantings. Instead, we have an eyesore — a dirt bed now overgrown with weeds, several large empty holes, a mound of soil and mulch to be spread. This is what we will be staring at all summer as we will now wait until fall to plant.
I would have expected Central to be clear about what they can get me and when. Just honesty. When I look at the other reviews I can’t believe they are talking about the same nursery, My experience has been frustrating and negative. Will take my business elsewhere.

Knowledgable staff and the best selection of trees and shrubs in RI. If they don’t have what you are looking for they can get it but be prepared to wait and make sure to bug them along the way.

Whatever plant, shrub, bush, or tree that your looking for in your yard, this place will have it. If they don’t, they can get it quickly.
The employees are very helpful and advised us on the exact plant that we needed for space in our yard. They will even deliver the plants and install them in your yard for you.

This is on the service of commercial installation, not the site itself, but I am frustrated enough to warrant a review. Central Nurseries won the bid for my city’s tree planting initiative and have missed their deadline by WEEKS. They are blocking parking, pissing off residents, and when they finally show up, they are doing the project so piecemeal that you think it’s a one man operation. Look elsewhere for your landscape contracting needs.

Central Nurseries is a wonderful place, with great plants and superb customer service. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and very friendly. They go above and beyond to help with your particular needs and wishes, and are such nice people that every visit is an absolute pleasure. I highly, highly recommend coming here for any planting needs!
