Unfortunately my wife and I had an experience here that will not be a rave review. Our server failed to reveal the price on the margarita, and when it came to the table it was mostly ice and very little liquid. We asked to speak to the manager, which we did, however, instead of trying to make things right he just argued. He never offered any apologies or any way to appease us. NO restaurant manager should EVER argue with a customer who is dissatisfied. He didn’t offer to adjust the bill at all.$ 9.49 for a margarita that was 9⁄10 ice and the rest liquid, which couldn’t possibly have much if any tequila in it. Needless to say, we won’t be back and will not recommend to any of our dining friends.

The service was great, but the enchiladas were lackluster and the margaritas too sweet.

Many Mexican restaurants in the Tri-Cities are mediocre. This one, however, is far from it. We started the self serve salsa bar; a few different varieties, all good. Moving forward, chips were served with a delicious black bean dip. The«Guac Your Way» is tables-side served guacamole. They offer three textures and the ingredients are pick-your-own. I got the Burrito Grande, a large burrito stuffed with chicken, rice, cheese, and beans with lettuce and pico de gallo served on top. Absolutely outstanding food. Will be returning, for sure!

My family abd I have recently moved to Jonesborough and have been trying many different restaurants and this has been the best mexican food so far. The bean dip was definitely different and grew on me the more i ate it. The toastada was delicious as well as the shredded chicken quesadilla. I will definitely be coming back.

The best part was the bean dip, it was good. Poor service. Server didn’t even tell us there was a salsa bar. Food was ok. Overall… Not friendly staff and ok food.

Loved it! We went at lunch and the prices were right on for a ton of food. I had the lunch fajitas and my friend had the taco salad. Both were great! This seems to be more authentic than the other Mexican restaurants we have in the area. Service was great and restaurant was very clean. I will definitely be back.

This is still tex mex, but with a lot more choices and fresher, more authentic style recipes. They have a small salsa bar, excellent black bean dip, and the food is delicious. Worth a visit if you haven’t.

Decent food, puréed refried beans, and the world’s tiniest tacos. Will pass this place up in the future. Too little good food for the price.

I did not know Mexican food could be so bland. Even the table side guacamole was tasteless and too chunky. The service was horrible as well. I will give them one star because they make a fabulous Margarita! This is our third time here and each time has been an issue. We will not be back.

My daughter and wife have been scoping out Johnson City food joints for over a year since our relocation to the area. So today when I mentioned getting Mexican for lunch my daughter headed for Poblanos. She was excited to go there and extolled their menu. Well she was right. The menu has a variety of different items than you find in the standard Tex Mex or Mexican American place. They have alternatives to flour and corn tortillas and do a selection of lettuce wraps. I had the BTO. Not exactly sure the meaning but the burrito looking concoction was awesome. They do a guacamole at the table and have a fresh salsa bar. Yep, planning on a few return trips to Poblanos!

Very good! Felipe’s burrito had a nice heat and a good taste. It was a very nice change from the typical Mexican fare in the Tri-Cities. I would highly recommend if you want a big city flavor on a ticket less than what you’d pay for mediocre food at Amigos. We’ll be back, I’m sure of that!

Food is not bad, but not special either. I’ve eaten here three times now – the green verde salsa and the shrimp are good; the service is consistently below average; and tonight the taco shell on the Amigo Bowl tasted… odd. Overall – decent. I live close by; otherwise, El Charolais would get all business from my Mexican food cravings.

During my month-long stay in Johnson City I tried to get a taste of a myriad of flavors that were available in the area and Poblano’s was one I couldn’t ignore, especially since it sat directly across the street from my hotel. I walked over on a Sunday afternoon to try the tacos that get all the buzz from this place: the bacon and shrimp tacos. I’m just like every other American and I love me some bacon so I figured that this could only be a win. Two of my favorite things — Mexican and bacon — in one meal. So, my hopes were up and my expectations perhaps a bit too high. The hostess and later my server, were not the greatest start to my meal. Although the place was fairly empty, they acted like my presence was an extreme inconvenience to them. They sat me in a corner in the far back of the restaurant where a bunch of other staff were either talking loudly(and inappropriately) and eating or shining glasses. I felt very uncomfortable near them as they talked badly about customers and frequently looked over at me like I was encroaching on their territory. Once my meal came my server left to join his comrades, never to be seen again(even when it was time to pay my check — I had to go up to the front to pay and request my bill). I learned a great lesson from my experience at Poblano’s: bacon doesn’t belong on everything. In fact it certainly doesn’t belong on shrimp tacos. Quite honestly they tasted terrible. The texture and flavors were just vile. I actually felt a bit sick from the aftertaste when I went to bed that night despite brushing my teeth very well. I guess I will be the odd one out on reviewing Poblano’s and give it my very enthusiastic thumbs-down!

We are visiting from CA and thought there would not be a selection of Mexican restaurants, to our surprise there was. We asked some local people to refer us to a couple and I must say the food was delicious, fresh and beautifully presented! We went after church on sunday 12:30pm roughly and it was a packed house, the wait was about 10 minutes and the one and only thing we were not fond of was how noisy it was, super noisy. I may suggest going after 2pm if you wish to have a conversation, other then that the food and service was excellent. Enjoy!

Best Mexican in Tri-Cities…since Chaco’s I’m told. Tried the house margarita(3⁄5), good but you can make it at home, gigantic chicken burrito(5⁄5), worth every bite and the table side guacamole(6⁄5) is the best I’ve ever had. The service was unimpressive, but a 32oz XX will forgive a multitude of sins. Definitely looking forward to going back.

Food was great. We weren’t expecting that. It’s right off the freeway and we thought it might be a typical chain-type place, but it’s not. We liked the salsa bar. The tomatillo salsa was made with fresh ingredients and was delish. The waiter, Alejandro was very good. My only disappointment was that he was told to go on break when we were just about finished, so we had a different waitress. I don’t like that. Waiters and waitresses should always finish with their tables. Overall it was a good experience and should we travel that way again, we’d like to go back.

Greasy, loud, expensive, rude owner, they also charge for extra tortillas.
