Numan’s Cafe And Sports Bar

I like this place but it was fairly intolerable for me as a non-​smoker. It’s a great place if you smoke though. There are plenty of tables and you don’t need to feed coins into them, just play as much as you want.

Numan’s is really one of a kind in Johnson City. Some would say of a kind they would never go to but if you love people, pool and beer with Karaōke thrown in you will love Numans.
The food is surprisingly good at a very low price. I really love the Pizza and their sandwiches. You will typically run into new friends while you are there as it is a very neighborhood type of place.
The bartenders are super friendly and eager to make sure you have a good time. Most have been there for a long time and are happy to relate some fun stories or just pour a really good drink for you.
If you haven’t experienced Karaōke here you are missing out. There is even some real talent but it is mostly just a fun diversion.
The place is a little long in the tooth as far as décor. that is the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5. Really good place to meet friends, play some pool and have a nice evening.

I was in town during the Pacqiuao-​Mayweather fight night, so I decided to try this spot. Hooter’s wanted to charge me $ 20 for a standing-​room-​only space, and I could understand that, as many spots were charging entrance fees to see the fight. Not Numan’s. They told me it was free to get in, just that there was a 2-​drink minimum, and the guy on the phone was VERY inviting, telling me no rush to get in early because they were letting a couple hundred people in. I got there at about 9pm, found a table, and I tipped my waitress the $ 20 I would’ve paid to Hooter’s. This was a nice spot to watch the fight. The crowd was loud, they were in to it, and the waitress’ recommendation of the onion rings was SPOT ON! They were good.
I will definitely check this spot out again when I come back.

I have to agree with another Unilocaler, they do have awesome pizza. I ordered for pickup earlier tonight and have no complaints. I ordered nachos and enchilladas. There was a problem with the cheese so I wasn’t able to get the nachos; I got the crispy beef tacos instead. Friendly and loose atmosphere and the staff is chatty and nice. The chicken enchilladas were the best Ive had in a long time. The taco meat was a little bland, would have been super tasty with a little more salt. They were stuffed with meat and cheese though. I’ve tried the pizza and cheese sticks on previous visits and was very pleased. Superb crust.

Numan’s is the absolute best bar in Johnson City. The food is fabulous and the atmosphere is very laid back. The staff are great and very friendly. The pizza is one of the best in town for the price.
There are two floors to Numan’s. The downstairs is always open and has both 7 foot coin operated pool tables and 9 foot regulation tables. The 7 foots can be rented by the hour, at a good rate, or pay by the game for $ 1. There are 6 7 foot tables and 4 9 foot tables downstairs. Also downstairs, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays is karaōke. On Sunday, there is free pub trivia where you could win up to $ 20 in bar credit.
The upstairs is smoke free and has more 7 and 9 foot pool tables, poker tables for the TN poker league, and a bigger stage for bands. The upstairs is open only open at night, starting at 6, Tues-​Sat. Two pool leagues, APA and NAPA, play upstairs too.
I am a regular who spends a lot of time and money at Numan’s. I’ve been going there almost every day for the past 6 years. It is my Cheers!

Numan’s has a little bit of everything. Bar poker league, pool tables, cold beer, booze, and probably the most underrated pizza around. Seriously, try the pizza. The owners, Dan and Jan Numan, donated projection screen equipment to a local dinner theater.

Large, and spacious! Lots of pool tables. The bar area looked like it went on forever.
I know I got my cardio on, walking back and forth to the restrooms .(dam that was a long walk) or just seemed that way due to my over indulgence of Guinness.
Our server, Leslie took good care of us all night. Honestly don’t know how she kept up with everyone, considering the size of this place.
I recall a Karaōke area and some country music. Eeh not much of a karaōke fan, but it wasn’t deafnin and there was so much going on, it really didn’t bother me.
This is a 21 and over bar, and you can smoke inside. For me that’s a good thing since I tend to smoke when I drink.
We had a great time here at Numan’s and for sure visit again.
