Sara S nailed it. We showed up and the place was deserted. My friends from the college days always insist on coming here and I was adamant we should skip it. Their food was OK and the bread was still pretty good but the chicken Alfredo I ordered had a really weird taste. I found out later in the night why it tasted weird because I was up sick. I know foodborne illness is tricky to pin to a specific meal and can show up days later but we’d all eaten the same thing for days leading up and I’m 100% confident this was the culprit. Sad to see this old staple in such shape but they’ve certainly lost my business for good.

What a disappointment! It had been at least a year since I had eaten here. It will be much longer before I return. We pulled in at 630 to an empty parking lot. Odd, I thought. THIS place used to be hopping! Upon walking in, it smelled like sewer and it was humid. We were literally the only people in the restaurant. We opted to sit on the patio, which was humid, but didn’t smell. It did have duct taped windows and not so nice décor. I remember their pizza being wonderful! However, our pizza had no sauce and was burnt on the edges and undercooked in the middle. Overpriced. Gross. Sad.

Delicious Italian food. I love their garlic bread! Spaghetti, manicotti, calzones, lasagna, and much more on the menu. Worth a visit!

Great food, but a somewhat limited menu and ever rising prices hold it back. Getting expensive where they used to be an exceptional value. Most dishes are large enough to split thankfully, which is the only reason i continue to go back.

This place has reasonable quality calzones and pizza. It also has pretty decent bread if that’s what you’re after. Few people are ever really after bread though. Their staff is noticeably better looking than at other restaurants in JC, which might seem like a compliment but could also suggest something weird about their hiring practices. I’ve been watching a lot of The Good Wife and I really feel like there’s a class-action lawsuit here.

Food was delicious especially the free bread that they provide while you are waiting. Service was very attentive, but we were there late in the afternoon and there were very few people there at the time.

I found Crazy Tomato by accident on Unilocal when in town and we were so glad we did! It is a great little italian restaurant that didn’t look like much, but the atmosphere was sweet and the staff was very friendly. They had great stromboli and it was very reasonably priced. I would recommend it to anyone in the area looking for something that isn’t a chain.

My mother and I had lunch here for the first time in 2007. The Food was delicious, the service was quick and the experience was enjoyable. Great place to take the family for the best food!

We had to go to a family emergency in VA and wanted to stop to eat and not have to have fast food. This was such a wonderful experience!!! After hours on the road to have warm seasoned breadsticks with the yummy sauce was delicious. The hot subs were like nothing I have ever had, hot, yummy, cheesy, and so good!!! We ended up having to go back to VA about 3 days after coming home and made a point of stopping here again it was so good. This time I had the spinach lasagne — yummy and the food prices were so reasonable! Wish we had one in Atlanta!

My parents live in Johnson City and everytime I visit them, we go to the Crazy Tomato. The food is really good and full of flavor. I usually get the loaded calzone(around 7 bucks) and it’s more than enough for one person. The pizza & breadsticks are winners as well… try any item and you’ll be satisfied. Their patio is very nice in the summer as well. Small parking up front, plenty parking in the rear.

Pretty good pizza place. I probably would give 3.5 stars if I could. The pizzas and the subs are not bad — and by that I mean pretty good. I don’t like this place as much as many locals do but it is good and a lot better than any Pizza Hut, Pizza Inn, or any chain pizza place. Can get REAL crowded at lunch time.
