It’s interesting, when I selected 5 stars, it adds the words«Loved it», past tense? It should say«love it». The thought of thinking of it in terms of something that I «used to do» vs doing today and tomorrow would be personally depressing. I have been attending the academy for over 2 years and I look forward to the next class. Certainly this place provides access to world class instruction, allowing students to be introduced to many different disciplines, but this is really a special place. It is an environment that makes people feel welcome, a culture that encourages total well being and challenges us to be better people. So, I would encourage anyone who is interested in learning a martial art to attend FFMAA, but also to those that are looking to fill a void, self improvement, to do so also. and you will learn a new skill along the way.

I have been doing martial arts since I was eight years old in multiple academies across the country. I can honestly say FFMA is one of a kind. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable in their respective discipline, respectful and patient. It starts with Sifu Fong as he has the rare combination of a commanding personality coupled with a deep compassion for people. Instructors and students alike respond to the tone he sets and that’s where the magic happens here.

Francis Fong Martial Arts Academy has changed my life for the better. I was out of shape, extremely inflexible, and very prone to injury before starting martial arts training there years ago. I am now 49 years old, and in much better shape. I am stronger and more flexible, and many things that used to cause me injuries that lasted weeks now either do not injure at all or only affect me for a day or so. Also, I put my daughter into FFMAA as a Lil’ Dragon when she was 4 years old. She is now 16 and is successful at almost everything she attempts. She is an excellent Martial Artist who got Black Belts in both Lil’ Dragons and JKD Juniors before moving into the adult classes early and progressing nicely through the belts in 6 forms she continues to pursue. She is now a Junior Instructor who teaches the children’s classes and an occasional adult class. She has an excellent, positive attitude in good times and bad, and she is the most polite and respectful teen-ager I know.

What a wonderful and organized academy with attentive staff. The training is world-class due to the presence of the legendary Francis Fong. I have been very fortunate to find this academy! Thank you!

I have been studying(several) martial arts for nearly 40 years, and have been in many different & fine schools with many fine instructors. Let me just say that there is a difference between those who merely instruct and those who truly teach… Sifu Francis Fong and his people… Mentor! I will put this succinctly for those who do not wish or need to read more… This is the School, This is the Art, and most importantly, This is the Man that convinced me to retire from 10 years of teaching my own classes as a midlevel black belt… to begin all over as a white belt again! As I mentioned, I have been teaching(martial arts, medicine, and surgery) for many years now, and have observed that there are many talented people out there who can DO… but it is rare to find one who can(really) DO and TEACH. No matter what your level or background, you can gain from this place. I take the teachings from this discipline and apply it to my surgical teachings. This has real world, everyday applications… you just have to notice. Just to be clear, it is not merely Sifu Fong, but his whole group of instructors who make this the Complete Package. I would say that one of the less common attitudes among martial arts schools is the encouragement(by this one) to «cross train» in other disciplines. Most find this idea to be threatening to their own doctrine(a bit of insecurity, in my opinion). Sifu Fong not only encourages this, but mandates this in his higher ranks. The reason is simple… to appreciate what you do, you should look at it from the eyes of others. There are many advantageous attributes that other disciplines offer, with which one might build or simply make themselves familiar in case of future encounter. It makes us stronger in the end. No matter what your background or familiarity… step in the door, and you will be made welcome. This does not end in the lobby… this is real. This is a place for all to learn and grow. Many studios try to impress the newcomers and wind up causing intimidation… again,(I believe) insecurity… None Here. These are my primary reasons for traveling across the country(at least) twice per year despite my(often) crazy schedule. Oh…(P.S.) did I mention the great Stress Relief?! If you are in the neighborhood and want to see and«feel» something truly remarkable and rare… stop in… I did… and stayed(going on 13 years now).
