We had a great time digging and getting muddy ! The tour was ok. The shop was pretty interesting. I don’t think is going to be a regular experience, but definitely come back and dig in a couple of years. Bring shade, digging tools and something to «roll your findings«drink plenty of water!

Great place to go play in the dirt & find some gems while doing so. The tour is where it’s at because they take you around in an army truck down into the actual mine & you learn so much plus you get to dig & even tour the amazing gallery! It also seems like the people who take the tour are there to have fun vs. those few people who seem to be trying to find their retirement plan. Great place to spend a day! Super friendly staff too.

Another awesome visit! My son and I had a blast digging around. We found some really nice crystals. We had a good few hours and then tired out but we got two sacks full and that was enough. I really want to use the campgrounds next time. We will have to get our camper ready!

Always a good time here. Only complaint was that they hadn’t brought up any new dirt from the mines, and wouldn’t be actively mining again for at least a month. Kind of a let down, but still a great time. Still plenty to find. Def take the tour, it was really neat to see inside the pit and how they work behind the scenes. Gorgeous gallery pieces

Good place to find large and pretty pieces but many are chipped/broken and not clear. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Fun place to go for the day. Use the hose to wash clay off the crystals before you leave because it makes a mess at home.

We went for the zip lining and were highly surprised by how much we enjoyed the quartz mining. First we did the tour, which was very interesting, where they let you see the gallery then take you into the mine and give you the history and information on the mine. The area is beautiful and it was nice to even just be out there enjoying the scenery. We then got into the digging(wear comfy clothes, good shoes, and prepare to get dirty) which was actually quite fun, especially after learning about the history of the mine and quartz itself. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting Hot Springs or for a fun day trip.

Doesn’t get any better than this! Easy digging and best finds. Very friendly staff! Dirty fun — so plan to bring old clothes, good shoes you don’t mind getting dirty, and perhaps a towel to sit on/clean off when you’re done. They provide digging tools and gloves in the gift shop but of course you are welcome to bring your own. Have been 3 times in the past year and plan on coming back from Louisiana in April for another dig! Love this place, love crystals.

I specifically asked the lady at the desk where the new loads they had brought up are, she said dhe didn’t know, that she hadn’t been watching. I then asked her if they had brought up loads that day, she said yes. She lied. There were no fresh tailings, another crystal hunter told us they hadn’t brought up a load since Thursday, This was on a Tuesday. There are lots of big hunks of white quartz, and some small crystals, all damaged. So if you like being lied to… I will spend my hard earned $ elsewhere, with honest people.

This is a definite must stop if you are in the area and worth the time and money. Be sure to have gloves, solid shoes, knee pads and cloths you don’t mind getting dirty/muddy. You will find some nice crystals, but more to the point you will have fun looking. The people who run the mine are friendly and helpful.
