A lot of changes to this place, and not necessarily for the better. Last time I dined here was two years ago, they had a larger variety of food items on their menu and the food was delicious and well priced. The menu has changed since(presumably under new ownership/management). They also added a pool table and a live band area. We ordered the potato croquettes to start, the croquettes itself were pretty delicious but the sour cream dip was bland. I had the Brazilian burger supreme(egg, bacon, mashed potato salad spread). The burger meat itself was bland, smelled and tasted like straight ground beef. The bun was not toasted which made the burger soggy to eat. The fries that accompanied the burger was slightly undercooked, greasy and unseasoned. The quality and selection of the food has significantly declined since the last time I dined here, not sure if I will be coming back.

Not good. When you step in you think to yourself«is there enough customers coming here to ensure that the food is turning over?» By the time you leave you imagine an episode of Gordan Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares where he’s berating the chef for using bottled lemon juice in the shrimp scampi. You know what I’m saying? However, the music/jukebox was stellar if you don’t mind multiple offerings by Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, and other stars of FM classic radio as you down a beer.

I found myself here on a Saturday because I’m around the corner and I had a random night off. Christine Santlelli was performing, she crushed it. Im a professional classical musician sitting next to a guy who reeked like weed in a local bar that is definitely a LOCALBAR! Between the music and the sweet bartender, I stayed.

The Lincoln Inn is a place with warm and professional service great, interesting food, artwork for sale on the walls and extraordinary music on Thursday and Saturday nights. Thursday nights from 8 – 11 is a blues jam co hosted by NYC Blues Hall of Fame members Christine Santelli and Joe taino– with musical support from drummer Matt Mousseau and bassist Tim Tindall. Guest hosts are of world class reputation as well. The ‘jam«is for blues oriented singers and players– it is NOT an open mike. That structure means that music is always high quality. The bands on Saturday nights from 9 – 12 are often blues/americana/roots music oriented-and sometimes they will have two bands. There is no cover and no minimum– however generous tips and purchasing music from the artist is wonderful… and strongly encouraged. IF you are anywhere in the vicinity of Jersey City Heights– and love great music, great food and drink– and being treated well– this should be a frequent stop for you.

3.5 stars. I went here for Chris Ernst’s Art Show a few months back. It looks a little divey on the outside, but is clean and updated inside. I ordered penne vodka since I was starving! It was so great to see my friend’s art around the bar. The collection fit the vibe of this place. The servers were nice and friendly and I received my food quickly. We didn’t stay too long and left right when the band came on. Parking was such a pain with the snow everywhere, but I’m sure this will be nice in the warmer weather!

As a newly made commitment that I’ve vowed to explore more of Jersey City, my wife and I decided to check out the LI after a very long day to get a well deserved drink. We saw that they were going to have live music so we decided to check it out. If it wasn’t «our style» we would move on. Let me tell you this place is definitely«my style». At first glance the outside gives the look of a run down local pub. When you walk through the door though you see that it is a well maintained establishment that just recently went through a well deserved upgrade. The staff is very friendly as well as the locals who regularly belly-up here too. The space is a good size with a number of tables that line the back. I did order some onion rings which were very good to nosh on. Not too breaded or slimy. All in all it was a great time with the band playing some Zydeco music to get me in the mood for an upcoming trip. They didn’t overpower the place so that you couldn’t talk to people which was an added treat. As for the price. Several rounds of drinks(not just beer) over a few hours for around $ 40. Not bad JC Heights! Not bad at all! If you looking for something a little different from other downtown places. Catch an Über(no drinking and driving please) and make your way to the Lincoln Inn.

Favorite spot to go to for some comfort food and a cold beer. The music isn’t too loud unless there is a live band but even then you can hold a nice conversation without having to shout like at most places. Cool crowd and good prices. I come regularly

It looks live a dive bar/restaurant but don’t judge this book by its cover!!! It was recently renovated and the décor was updated. Modern and clean. The owner Ken is friendly and always willing to tell a joke and talk for hours. The crowd is usually an older crowd but all have been friendly. The food is great. Had to force my wife to go but when she walked in she was blown away. It’s like walking through the wardrobe into Narnia. That big of a change. The menu is varied from steaks, pasta, and nice selection of seafood. Prices range from $ 12 up to $ 24 for their Seafood Feast. Huge and delicious. The mussels are excellent. They have live music all the time. Nice change for the neighborhood and adds a little something different. Check it out… Have Fun

I went there Sunday afternoon with another couple. There were flat screen TVs throughout with the telecast of World Cup 2014 and horse racing. The were some locals sitting at the bar with their beers or cocktails. It’s a nice well kept neighborhood newly renovated Italian bar & restaurant. We sat at the table in the middle of the dining room. The service was slow but our server showed us her efficiency. We ordered from the dinner menu: spicy chicken wings, stuffed mushrooms, shrimp & scallops on top of linguine, shrimp Françese, broiled tilapia, and the Mermaid platter. Overall the food was tasty but some items were over-cooked. They could’ve used less olive oil, butter & garlic on the linguine. Although flavorful, the spinach was not fresh — it was a frozen product that was cooked or steamed. The stuffed clam on the Mermaid platter was unfortunately dried out & chewy. Surprisingly, the shrimp Françese I ordered was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of lemon juice, wine and garlic. I should’ve had the pasta instead of the baked potato to soak up the lemon, garlic & white wine sauce. Ironically, we were the only second patrons that sat in the dining room. Still, the food that came out of the kitchen was kind of slow. Considering some of the mishaps of the food service and food itself, I will return to give it another try. I like the vibe and it could be a great local hangout in the JC Heights that could use some fine tuning.

The lovely wife and I came here earlier this week for dinner. It used to be one of her old stomping grounds back in the day. First time for us, it has been remodeled with nice artwork on the walls and a really nice tiled wall behind the bar. For an appetizer, we shared the mozzarella sticks while having a glass of White Zinfandel. While looking over the menu what caught my eye was the Lincoln Inn Feast of Seafood, which consisted of baby lobster tails, clams, calamari, mussels and shrimp sautéed in garlic, olive oil and clam sauce. It is served over your choice of pasta(I chose linguini). The Mrs. got an 8 oz. sirloin and lobster tail. I believe items may have been missing from my dish, I did not find any calamari and the sauce was kind of bland like they left off the garlic. My wife’s dinner came pretty much like she ordered though the sirloin was a little more than medium rare. I could understand if they were busy but when we came in we were the only customers in the back restaurant area. We finished off the meal with cappuccinos and tiramisu(which was the best thing we had all night). The staff is extremely friendly and I will probably go back to see if it was just a fluke that night based on other reviews. Possibly for a weekend brunch or afternoon lunch but for now, just A-OK, hence the three stars.

My husband and I have lived in the Heights since 1999. Over the years I would walk down Central Avenue and I would catch a glimpse of the Inn and would think to myself we really need to try that place. Fast forward 15 years later some friends moved to the hood and invited me to have dinner with them at the Inn. I understand I did not go before the renovations, but I am so glad I finally went. The food, drinks, vibe and company were great. I can’t wait to take the hubby. The new Lincoln Inn is worth the trip to the Heights.

There are not a lot of restaurants in this neck of the Heights that work for me because I don’t eat meat, so I was glad to discover Lincoln Inn and their classic menu of American cuisine standards. We stopped in for brunch and I went with an omelette. Everything was good, but if I’m being honest I think I like the food at Coach Hose better, at least for brunch. I’ll definitely be back for dinner, or perhaps a night cap at the bar. Service was friendly and the restaurant looks pretty spiffy after a recent renovation.

Let me first start by saying that I would have never tried this spot… well I mean, lets be honest, the exterior isn’t inviting to anyone other than locals that frequent pub type establishments. BIG, HUGE, BIG surprise when I walked in! Modern, trendy, newly remodeled– think of Hoboken trend. Having said that, the service and drinks were excellent, the people were friendly and welcoming and the food was delish! You can tell a place and it’s care by walking into the women’s restroom(lets be honest, some are just disgusting, I’ll hold it till I get to a gas station nasty!) but Not this! I was impressed by the detailing and décor of the facilities, not to mention the cleanliness! And to be fair, I have to say there were quite a number of people in the restaurant/lounge leading one to believe it had its fair share of use;) Back to the food! Now, without hesitation my first instinct was to order the typical, generally safe burger buuut thank God I didn’t! I was willing to take a risk and what a well calculated risk it was! For the life of me I can’t remember the name of the dish but it was a chicken breast topped with prosciutto, spinach and a white wine garlic cream sauce… YES, I order THAT type of dish at a place whose name ends in INN! And I’d do it again! The salad was tasty without the over indulgence of a dressing:) The drinks. While I wasn’t in the mood for a fru-fru cocktail, I was in the mood for a lil Irish whiskey! The Jameson and ginger I ordered, YES Jameson and ginger, was perfectly set up. The bartender whose name I can’t remember right now:/ has been there for a long long time and knows his liquor well! The perfect combination! I will definitely be stopping in again and again and again! Oh and did I mention TVs behind the bar? Yup! Game time! Go Giants!

Generous portions of classic Americana. Atmosphere is indeed 1980-ish(well, maybe 1970-ish) but the friendliness of the staff makes up for a lot. There’s obviously a devoted following of long-time locals, but I felt right at home my first time and have been back, often with friends, many times.

Came to eat on a Friday and had the cajun salmon. The fish was well cooked and a little spicy but good, lots of sides. We also had the red sangria which hit the spot. The service was great and although it was my second time there the bartender, waitstaff and owner recognized me. Bottom line if your looking for a warm and relaxed atmosphere with old school hospitality and good food this is the place.

The people who work here are great, but the actual restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. I’m not sure what they are going for with the atmosphere. The dining room is all wood paneling with very uninspired artwork and sharks on the walls. The menu is way too big for what they are. Sometimes they serve olives, carrots, and celery complimentary and sometimes not. On to the menu… They serve WAY too much! They should really stick to a specialty. For instance the steak dishes are pretty good, but stay away from the Italian and Seafood. We continue to go here because we love the owner and staff, but the food is not worth the price. I have only had two good meals here-the sirloin tips, and the Seafood Augratin. Generally they are out of the steak tips and filets. Although I don’t think the food is very well prepared or good for that matter, we never leave the place for less than $ 70.00. That’s two entrees, a kids meal, and sometimes an ice cream. It’s very expensive for what it is. If you are looking for a watering hole, you will find friendly, and good people here, but if you are looking for a nice meal keep going.
