Super Hero Sub Shop

Love the design inside. It’s modern and fresh feeling, doesn’t feel like just any old sub shop. So clean too, which is a big deal for me. The new owners did a great job with updating this place.
Now to the food. Got a few different subs. They sure didn’t skimp out on the meats and cheeses. I’ve read past reviews and I can tell you that these new people have stepped it up a notch in here. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying their pizza, and grabbing a slushy during the summer.

I decided to give this place another try only bc I saw a new management banner out front! I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and service I received. Not to mention the new décor and how clean and spacious it looks ! Two thumbs up I will defiantly return !

I ordered a large cheese sub sandwich from them because we are all vegetarians in this house. I ordered via seamless. The delivery time was Ok and and young lady was pleasant. I could have got this sandwich at my corner store (or any in Jersey City) but I was lazy and I seamlessed it. The only ingredients were American cheese, lett, tomato and oil and vinegar — (don’t judge me). They forgot the vinegar. It changes the effing sandwich when there are 5 ingredients to it. Also they Skimped on the cheese – two thin slices for a large sub I tipped 20 percent on. CMON!!! should have took my lazy ass to the store. half the price and they can get 5 goddamn ingredients right!

It took 2.5 hours to deliver 2 cold sandwiches via Seamless. Horrible communication, no apology. Would absolutely NOT recommend for delivery.

For a sub shop where 40% of the menu is turkey based, I was very disappointed to order a turkey club through Seamless and have my order be accepted and then receive a phone call ten minutes later saying they didnt have any turkey. Seriously? Now I’m ten minutes behind getting my dinner from another place. Thanks Super Subs! Will not be ordering from again. Great first impression.

awesome food and customer service! fast delivery and they were very efficient in making sure they got every detail of my order right. im excited that i found this place because they also have really good salads:):):)

Perfect Italian sub, macaroni salad and potato salad. Generous portions — enough for 2 meals (the large sub). Their customer service is excellent. When an item isn’t available e.g. macaroni salad, they call and ask if you’d like a replacement with a comparable item (and added an extra serving). I appreciate small acts of gratitude; it will keep me coming back.

Super Hero Subs has really good submarine sandwiches with a wide variety of meats. You can order small/​medium/​large on white or wheat bread. There is also a lunch special (chips and drink with soda for an extra 50 cents) and various side salads. They also have a selection of cake slices for dessert. Great value for money. I recommend it if you’re in the area.

Ordered the Three Meat Panini from this place thru GrubHub… terrible mistake.
According to the menu, the three meats were ham, capicola, and pepperoni with swiss cheese. Paninis are meant to be thin and hot, but the panini came in a pita. I opened it up and it was the thin sprinkling of mini pepperoni slices, two slices of ham and God knows where the capicola was, and one slice of swiss cheese. I’m posting pictures to show the nonsense I paid 8.25 for.
Never ordering from here again.

I’ve only ever ordered delivery from these guys. Very quick delivery and a great healthy alternative to the usual take out choices. Good, fresh sandwiches, but not as much meat as I’d like and they forgot some toppings… or maybe there were just too little for me to see. Maybe next time!

First things first, delivery took a significant amount of time, approximately an hour and forty minutes. I called and was told that our order went out last and that the driver had six orders overall. Mind you, this was already an hour into the wait time. By the time the order arrived, the panini and «hot» roast beef sandwich were luke warm at best and needed to be reheated. The grilled cheese panini tasted no better than a grilled cheese I could’ve cooked up in five minutes. The chicken salad sandwich, while certainly large and admittedly inexpensive for its size (about 11 bucks), was middle of the road. The plus was that it wasn’t too drowned in mayo. Finally the roast beef also was very average. At best, I would describe SuperHero Sub Shop as ‘Superman Returns’. Well meaning but not doing the genre justice (and career ending for Brandon Routh).

I want to just start off with an apology for not posting a picture of my MONSTER HUGE SUB but I tore that thing up so fast that the picture wouldn’t have done it justice. I am a bit of a picky sandwich eater due to growing up on blimpie but I have completely forgotten blimpie!
I just want to thank my sandwich crafter, I don’t know his or her name but he or she was awesome.
I called before I ordered on grub hub because I wanted an honest answer as to the size of the subs since most of them are never big enough to be worth the $ 8.00+ they cost. The guy on the phone was so so very nice and he was telling the truth about these sandwiches.
I ordered using grubhub and I had an estimation of 7:35 — 7:45pm. I ordered at 6:52pm or so and my phone was ringing at 7:15! The delivery guy was super nice and definitely deserved his tip unlike all the nasty delivery guys I have encountered.
I ordered a large honey turkey/​honey ham with provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, peppers, and oil and vinegar.
Large was not the word. They should rename it the HULK or something.
I could not finish this sandwich, I tried though. This was definitely a 2 person job if not 3 person job (though I couldn’t charge with that many, it’s too good for that)
You ever had one of those meals where you are stuffed but you keep eating because your tongue just misses it? That’s what happened to me. I only was able to eat half (I’m stuffed btw) and the rest is waiting for me in the fridge.
Any men reading my review listen up: ORDER SUBS FROM HERE FOR SUPERBOWL 2015. Treat your boys to this. They will thank you.

I’m dead serious I mostly use Unilocal to complain or read other people’s complaints about restaurants but this restaurant has EARNED 5 stars. Please open a downtown location near my job, open in journal square near the path, franchise this place like wonder bagels did.
Long story short: Thank you for a beautiful Friday night. P. S: I literally just wrote a mini love story to this restaurant, so you know this sandwich was amazing.

This place is great! Really nice people, freshly sliced deli meats and cheeses, consistent and friendly delivery, and delicious tasting wraps and sandwiches. I generally order a turkey and pepper jack wrap. I’ve been to the store a couple of times and ordered delivery more time than I should. You can taste the freshness and I have seen them slice the ingredients to order when I’ve been there in person. I’ve gone there near closing time and they didn’t rush and made sure I was happy with what I got. My only complaint is they often seem to be out of different things. But they actually call you to tell you this if you order delivery as opposed to most places who will just leave things out. Panini I ordered once wasn’t that great and the salads are alright but nothing special. Stick to the wraps and sandwiches and you will be happy.

Seriously, I’m a firm believer In trying a place a few times before leaving a poor review. I would advise that to the Unilocalers below, because I don’t believe that those are issues that are so unbearably unfixable, unless an establishment fucks up royally. See my review for Sloppy Joe’s — that was a cause for a riot and a first time crap review.
I really have to commend this place because we’ve ordered here before (a ton of times) and after a MINOR mishap, I messaged the business privately through Unilocal,and one of the owners immediately called to apologize and offered a form of compensation. Customer service (on top of the really nice girls in the store) is really commendable here. I really didn’t expect to be offered to be compensated, as I only wanted to express my grievances with this ONE instance and to offer some suggestions, but it was really a nice gesture.
These guys have a good thing going on. Again, their ingredients are fresh and tasty. Also, their brother business, Fatties, is REALLY good too.
Thanks again, sub shop, for the attentiveness to your customers! It really goes a long way. I’ll definitely keep coming back!

Ok, I typically don’t nitpick about places but there were a few glaring details that would prevent me from ordering again. Luckily, I was high enough to enjoy my meal.
CONS:
1. They called to inform me they ran out of romaine for my Caesar Salad. They did ask if it was ok to replace with another type and I relented. It was shredded iceberg (the type they use for the subs) and I couldn’t help but feel like I was eating a big bowl of noodles. Caesar salad just ain’t the same without romaine. No biggie and I still ate it.
2. The «large» order of potato salad (that I was going to share with one other person) was very tiny-​a single serving. Maybe they thought I ordered a small? Also, it doesn’t even taste good. Vinegary and plain. Miffed, but an error I could let slip.
3. They forgot the small order of coleslaw I ordered with the sub. Perhaps they got the potato salad and coleslaw order mixed up. Sigh.
4. The sub was not packed with meats/​toppings like a typical Jersey sub should be! Who in their right minds would put like 1 slice of each item and be alright with it?? Pretty skimpy-​not superhero quality. I thought this was a SUB shop?
5. Gave me roasted red peppers on the sub instead of hot peppers and regular ham instead of capicola. Oh, and they don’t have a typical Italian sub on their menu – I had to customize a Salami and Cheese sub. They also forgot my requested olives.
PROS: I won’t even bother numbering them but the sub was bigger than a foot long. Which is nice but would’ve been nicer if it was filled like a sub should be. Also, they delivered promptly to Journal Sq (approx. 40 min). Delivery guy was very polite.
*Apologies for the lengthy review. But wanted to make it clear that the small details do count, especially if there are a lot of small errors in one order. This was my first time ordering delivery from them, most likely my last. I’m sorry but I need my Jersey-​sized sub.

AFTER 3 TRIES this place missing over and over… I got to say these guys deserve a BAD one.
I ordered a wrap and salad. After about an hour and a half wait with the 20% tip already included. The stuff arrived. The wrap turned out to be a sandwich which was completely different than what I ordered. Chicken salad on a roll not the wrap I asked and paid for… Also none the toppings (I also paid for) were on the sandwich. So I think maybe there was a screw up… And look at the salad. It’s a ceasar salad made with iceburg lettuce. No croutons. And a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. No dressing… No dressing with a ceasar salad… whats a ceasar salad w/​o dressing? lettuce…
I called them they said they would re-​deliver the dressing but not for another 40 minutes… Which means another hour in reality. I asked for a refund they said they would refund the sandwich through
… Not that
ever confirmed this via email so now I have to call… Maybe
is retarded? Either way the only way you should order, if you do, is call directly and make sure the confirm your order back to you…
AVOID. seriously. Take the hint, don’t keep hoping the order will be right eventually. Last time they delivered the wrong meat on my sandwich. And before that it was the wrong bread… Take it from an idiot who kept trying… order sandwiches elsewhere.

Shady location, but the sandwiches definitely make up for it. My boyfriend and I usually split the large buffalo chicken sandwich with bacon, lettuce, onions, jalapeño, cucumbers, pepper jack cheese or Swiss, with pepper, oregano, vinegar, oil and their special sauce (boom boom sauce) toasted on whole wheat, all for a whopping $ 8.50! Definitely a great bang for the buck! If you live in the area, be sure to check the place out! I mean, spicy bacon… need I say more? Your taste buds will thank you for it.
Oh, and the staff is extremely friendly! Definite plus!
