Hands down my favorite restaurant… always consistent delicious food. They keep the menu fresh by adding new dishes oh and did I mention the cocktails? They pair perfectly with the flavors on the menu. This is my go to place to celebrate any milstones & treat myself to something special on any given Sunday…

Sooooo savory and delicious. I’ve been here for brunch and the wine bar, but just tried them for dinner during restaurant week. The customer service is great, so friendly and my water glass was constantly refilled– the best! The portions were incredible, especially for restaurant week. I had the arugula salad which had the perfect dressing, and the perfect amount of it as well! The braised ox tail risotto was out of this world. So tender and perfectly cooked. Huge portion that I sadly couldn’t finish. For dessert I ordered nonna’s icebox pudding– my new favorite dessert. I will definitely be back!

This is the best restaurant in Jersey City — hands down. You can’t go wrong with the braised short ribs or gnocchi, plus the ambiance and service are perfection. It’s my go-to spot when entertaining or my local eatery when I don’t feel like trekking to the city but still want quality food. You are doing yourself a dis-service if you live in JC and have not been to this Paulus Hook staple.

I’ve been wanting to try Satis for quite some time and saw that they were participating in Hudson’s Restaurant Week so I decided to finally make it over there. I really loved the décor and the feel of the place. It get’s a bit noisy when it fills up, making conversations a bit harder, but I’m okay with that. We ordered from the special Pre Fixe Menu that was being offered for Restaurant Week, and though I thought the food was very good, I do have two small issues with the night. FIrst, I guess they had the food on the special menu already cooked, so our dinner, with apps, entrée and dessert, took approx 35mins total. as in from start to finish. I felt extremely rushed! The waiters kept circling us, ready to grab our plates as soon as we were finished and drop down the next course. I went there to have a nice dinner and I felt like I was being pushed out the door rather quickly. Second, and I’ve noticed this at other restaurants that participate in these events, so Satis is not alone in this, but I felt the portions were rather small. I’m assuming they were trimmed down in size for the special, as I would be quite upset if I had paid full price for an entrée that small. I’ve encountered this before and I wish they would be upfront and say the portions are reduced. I was still feeling a bit hungry when I left. Oh and one more thing… they didn’t even offer bread, which again, not included, but for those of us who love bread with our meal, it was quite disappointing. I will, however go back and try the regular menu, probably in the spring when I can sit outside and enjoy the weather on a nice day. Hopefully it will be a more leisurely meal with nice portions!

Excusing the pun, this was a Satisfying dining experience. I dropped by after work for the Hudson Restaurant Week prix-fixe menu. Beyond the heavy curtains is the quaint, two-level dining room. Jazz is quietly piped into the candle-lit space and service is efficient without feeling rushed. The food was outstanding, if a little uneven in places. Off the Restaurant Week menu, I snagged the patatas bravas, short rib au poivre, and German chocolate cake sundae. The potatoes came out piping hot and perfectly crispy with the creamy cumin aioli just managing to offset the borderline overwhelming spice mixture. While the smoked paprika was assertive, the potatoes were bracingly salty. Next up was the entrée: a tender cube of short rib topped with a thin layer of peppercorn brandy sauce over chorizo and goat cheese infused mashed potatoes. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender and the potatoes were creamy good with just enough punch from the chorizo. The flavours on this dish were a bit more muted, picking up just enough richness from the sauce. The dessert was among the best I’ve had. Anywhere. A scoop of chocolate brownie gelato, a scoop of coconut almond crunch gelato, and two dollops of whipped cream, all topped with toasted coconut, candied pecans, and a warm butterscotch sauce. A fantastic ending to a great meal.

I will title this review«Food yummy, service wack». My bf and I came here on a Sunday night for my birthday dinner, which fell perfectly mid-Restaurant Week. The feel: Ambiance is great: the lighting and décor are gorgeous and comfortable; really perfect for a classy yet low-key evening. RW deal: I had checked the RW menu several times before settling on Satis. BUT, it was different from the pre-fixe menu we ended up receiving there. When I checked the RW site after going home, it had been changed(maybe a difference of 5 days or so?). Not the biggest deal as there were still some great choices, but… blah. Food: AMAZE. Arugula salad and potato/chorizo soup were great. Gnocchi was in a crazy garlicky heavy cream sauce… mmm. The braised short rib was so savory and the goat cheese mashed potatoes were smoooooth. Nana’s icebox pudding and gelato were a great way to end. None of the portions were huge, but because of the fairly heavy entrees it was all together a filling meal. Service: NON-EXISTENT. That’s not to say it was bad. It was just literally not there. Our waiter(red rimmed glasses) never once said«enjoy» or asked us how our food was. Didn’t ask if we needed anything… he literally didn’t come back to our table after we got appetizers(though he walked right past us many times). I don’t even know who the random person was that brought us our food, but he didn’t say anything to us either. Honestly, the only person who paid any attention to us was the nice man who filled our water several times. He was the one we had to ask for the check, a couple minutes after our desserts had already been cleared. Ugh writing this makes me want to bring the review down another star, but maybe I won’t because the meal itself was so delish. The hostess was very nice at least. Conclusion: Food is great and ambiance is great, but nobody paid attention to us.

Satis Bistro is a great place to have lunch if you’re in the Jersey City area near Exchange Place. It’s only about 5 minutes walk from the PATH station and the food is really, really good. Recently, I went and tried the Poached Eggs with wild mushrooms in a truffled holandaise sauce. It was a small portion, but the perfect size for me. It’s two poached eggs on top of a soft buttered brioche bun and topped with sauteed wild mushrooms and a light yet creamy holandaise sauce that smelled amazing. I also really like that they take reservations. They were nice enough to seat me before my friend arrived and also let us stay for a while to catch up. Also, I believe that for a set price, you can get a brunch item and pair it with a mimosa or bellini.

Loved this place so much!!! I took my fiancé for his birthday, and we had am amazing night there. A waiter(seemed like he was the owner of the restaurant) recommended us 3 kinds of wines, and let us try each of them. He was so sweet! We had beef tartar, and prefix menu(soup, salad, short ribs and ice cream). Food was just perfect, and very satisfying. All bottles of wine are pretty reasonable, and they have so many choices for the bottles. Will definitely go back!!!

Sunday evening in advance of my birthday. the place is very warm and cozy, just the right atmosphere for a multicourse sit-down meal. We’re a party of 5 and four of us opted for the evening’s 5 course tasting menu($ 55 — reasonable) and I had the wine pairing +$ 35. 1) Butternut Squash Galette(with Reichgraf Von Kesseltstatt Riesling) Pretty good, could be better 2) Strozzapreti pasta(Dourun Franca Blend) — Sauce is balanced, pasta is velvety smooth 3) Seared Sea Scallops(Jadix Cteaux du Languedoc) — Excellent, perfectly executed, sweet and caramelized outside, tender inside 4) Wagyu Beef Brisket pot au Feu(Double Cellars Dry Creek Zinfandel) — Not as good as it should’ve been 5) German Chocolate Cake Sundae(Casa de Santa Eufernia 10yr port) gave it away to my son, he said it was good Overall a good dining experience if you can splurge for the tasting menu.

Satis Bistro is on fleeeeeeek. A main floor with a more intimate balcony overhead, rustic décor, beautiful artwork, classy cocktails, decadent menu options… I could go on and on. It’s just strait up sexy in here. We came in for no particular occasion(besides wanting to feel super classy), but I’d definitely encourage planning a celebratory meal here. Although they’ve got some hearty entrees, there are also plenty of small plates, shareable sides, and cheese and meat pairing options. We started off with lime gin cocktails and a manchego cheese plate, which came with several thick slices of cheese, sliced bread and a slab of fig jam. The cheese was delicious and I’m glad we only ordered one type because I could have inhaled so much more. My only complaint is that there wasn’t nearly enough bread on the plate. I kept my entrée light and fresh while my boyfriend made a super hearty pick. I went with the scallops, which had four perfectly pan seared scallops and a side of golden beats and shaved brussels. The brussels were a major disappointment and the dish basically had three teeny burnt pieces of a brussels sprout leaf, but otherwise I really enjoyed. My boyfriend absolutely loved his braised short rib atop a bed of chorizo goat cheese mashed potatoes. Too rich for my blood, but the bite that I snuck was sinful. No room for dessert was upsetting because of how fabulous it all sounded, but I guess there’s always next time!

Was here with 7 others, pretty solid food. We had some cocktails and appetizers while waiting prior to dinner and one of the Chardonnays I believe during dinner. In terms of Cocktails, I had the Gypsy Dance which among other things came with Sour Cherry Palinka(a Hungarian Fruit Brandy) and some sour cherry juice with some other things. It was quite sour and quite delicious. I recommend it if you like other sour alcohol drinks and especially if you like sour cherry juice(like Tamek or related.) An image of the drink is here. Someone else had a bourbon drink which was listed on the bottom. It was good also though i think my drink was more creative. Someone else had an Allagash white/witte which is always good and someone had a Peroni. The beer selection here in general is on point and not super expensive though their USA selection could be bigger but a good German/Belgian beer selection, especially for it being more of a wine/spirits place. We shared for appetizers/while waiting Patatas Bravas 8– Crispy Potatoes, Pimentón, Cumin Aioli, Scallions Probably the best of the three. Solid. Quite similar to other Spanish places I have been to but with better quality spices. Quite addictive. 3.8 Lentils de Puy 10– Rye Berry and Frisée Salad, Caraway Goat Cheese, Pear and Pomegranate Dressing Very good. Nice and nutty. Very refreshing. 3.7 Winter Greens Caesar Salad 9.5– Parmigiano Garlic Croutons The normal. I wouldn’t say amazing or poor. It’s somewhere in the middle. 3.1 Mains: I had(and someone else:) Butternut Squash Wellington 22 Mushroom Braised Kale Duxelles, Boucheron and Truffled Porcini Demi, Upland Cress and Spiced Pepitas Yep, I went vegetarian for once, and oh my it was delicious. I am not sure exactly how you add«Boucheron» into a demiglace but the sauce was nice and mushroomy(not much truffle, probably just a lil’ truffle oil?.) The pastry shell was nicely rich and the filling was quite good. It tasted a bit cheesy in some sections which was kind of surprising as I don’t see one listed. I guess it was the buttery texture combined with the rich inside. The squash was good though I expected more of mashed for texture and to make it so there was more of it. A lot of the bites didn’t have squash but I really didn’t mind. The cress salad/spiced pumpkin seeds(aka pepitas) were fine. Quite a rich dish also. 4.0. I tried: Housemade Ricotta Gnocchi 25– Braised Escarole, Cannellini Beans, Garlic Confit The Gnocchi were not super good. As a lot of other people seem to have said, they are way too thick for their own good. No pleasant plumpness like in good Gnocchi. No real contrast. I would say to change the recipe but so many people have posted the same thing that well, it looks like they won’t. The sauce is OK but doesn’t help 2.2. Braised Short Rib 26– Sauce au Poivre, Chorizo and Goat Cheese Mashed Potatoes I only tried a very little piece of short rib with a very little bit of the potatoes. The short rib was fine(maybe very slightly dry) and the potatoes were good. I won’t rate it as I didn’t get too big of a bite. I did not try: Someone had chicken and liked it. Two others had steak and enjoyed it(steak frites are steak frites.) The food is somewhere in the high 3s with a good alcohol selection and very nice service. Solid low 4.

When it comes to what’s on your plate or in your glass– they don’t play here. Great wine list, cocktail menu, and variety of beers; pair any of them with a charcuterie plate packed with your choice of nutty, melt-in-your mouth mangalitsa, prosciutto, serrano, and your pick of funky cheeses. Share some classic spanish tapas and an entrée+ and your all set. Service is always great, they handle a packed dining room very well. They are knowledgeable and can answer any question about the menu as well as make great recommendations. Parking is kind of difficult in the area but don’t let that stop you.

I’ve been to Satis three times now, twice on my own and once to an amazing Unilocal Elite event. Every time I’ve been, I’ve always left so full and satisfied, but it’s very hard to stop eating because everything is so delicious. Let’s keep this simple. We ordered the Chef’s Pairing of 6($ 36) options for the cheese, salumi, and prosciutto. Delicious. The mustard/apricot mixture put on the side is can’t miss. I could throw that on anything. The Ricotta Gnocchi($ 25) is very rich and filling. It can be simply the only thing you order for the night and you’d be overly satisfied and full. Cast Iron Roasted Half Chicken($ 24) is delicious, but the polenta underneath is really amazing tasting(since polenta is usually bland). Braised Oxtail Risotto($ 27) is like the gnocchi, extremely rich and filling. All of these meals are in the three dollar sign area, but with the amount of food you’re receiving, it’s almost obnoxious to NOT take some home with you, which instantly turns it into a midnight snack or lunch for the next day. With the extra meal, these entrees instantly feel less expensive. At the same time, these entrees and everything else I’ve ever had at Satis are always top notch and prepared to exactly how I’d want them. I have nothing to say bad about Satis, except maybe the amount of room I have when I sit. I wish I could not be sitting on top of the people next to me, but honestly, who cares. I’m here for the delicious food. I’ll be back for a fourth time soon enough.

My girlfriend and I recently came to Satis for dinner for Hudson Restaurant Week. The atmosphere here is just fantastic. Satis has a nice spot on the corner in Paulus Hook with both indoor and outdoor seating. The indoors is quite small, but very nicely put together. We chose to sit outside as the weather was just too nice to pass up. We started off with appetizers — I ordered the patatas bravas and my girlfriend ordered the scotch egg. Both were very flavorful. I would almost say the patatas bravas were a bit over-seasoned, but they were still very good. I had never had a scotch egg before, so I don’t have any comparison, but I also really enjoyed it and would definitely order a scotch egg again. Moving onto the main course, I got the trofie a la genovese pasta dish, which was trofie pasta with arugula-basil pesto, corn, charred bell pepper, and green beans with toasted pine nuts and goat milk cheese. It was a very unique dish and full of different flavors. I don’t recall having a similar dish in the past, and I really enjoyed it. My girlfriend got the cast iron roasted half chicken in bourbon pan gravy and polenta with broccoli, pecan, bacon, and smoked blue cheese dressing and said it was fantastic. Lastly, for dessert I ordered the sweet corn panna cotta, blueberry and cornmeal shortbread and my girlfriend ordered the banana chocolate cream pie. The panna cotta comes highly recommended by me. This panna cotta was absolutely perfect — a great balance between sweet and savory. My girlfriend also enjoyed her dessert. Satis can be quite expensive if you aren’t catching a deal like Restaurant Week, but in my opinion it’s worth it to give it a try. You can find quite a few dishes that aren’t too common at other restaurants, and judging by the meal I had they know how to make them right. A solid four stars from me — I definitely recommend it and I will most likely return for a special occasion or other event that warrants spending a little more for a nice meal.

Came here for Hudson Restaurant Week, and had been wanting to try the food here ever since I read the reviews and saw the pictures of the Mangelesa Charcuterie & Fromagerie on Unilocal!I am STILL thinking about my dinner experience there! The service was impeccable. The servers were knowledgable about the menu items, the courses came out in a timely manner, and everyone was very friendly. Now for the food. I chose this spot specifically since I’m the foodie, but my beau is a big meat and potatoes sort of guy with a rather large appetite, and Satis’ menu seemed to offer dishes that were filling. In this regard, I was correct! My appetizer: meat and cheese plate. It was OKAAYYYY. Probably the reason that I am giving 4 and not 5 stars. The cheese was a sheep’s milk semi soft, creamy, with a bite to it. The meat was quite tasty and I could tell the cornichons were in-house pickled. It wa a perfect complement to the apricot-mustard seed chutney, creamier & smooth cheese, and meat. It was lacking, to me, in presentation, like an after-school snack prepared by my parents in elementary school. Not the vibe I wanted. Beau’s appetizer: Saffron, corn & potato soup. It was a chilled soup, velvety, creamy, and delicious, with a dollop of chile oil on top, to give it a zing. We wanted to lick the bowl. My main course: Steak frites with truffle oil. It was a meaty, perfectly rare(as I requested) hanger steak of good portion size. I could tell that the chef expertly rested the steak prior to slicing, since there was ZERO bleeding. It was juicy with a sea-salt and well seasoned dry rub, grilled, and drizzled with just a touch of truffle butter. The fries were nice and crispy. Beau’s main course: OH. MYGOD. Homemade gnocci. Only, they were gnooci the size of pillows. Perfectly plush, perfectly cooked, not too dense but not too soft gnooci. It had that wonderful bite and tooth-sinking in feel, like a good pasta should be. The gnocci swam in this aromatic, creamy sauce with cannellini beans, escarole, and garlic confit. HEAVEN. So glad that my beau was actually FULL, and I ate a good 1⁄3 of those gnocci. Salivating just typing the description. YUM. Dessert: We were full by this point, and shared my dessert, the German Chocolate Cake Ice Cream Sundae with salted caramel and candied pecans. It was everything you wanted in a dessert and more. Freshly made whipped cream, freshly candied pecans, in-house made salted caramel. Perfect bite of creamy icecream, sweet cream, salt from the caramel, and just really good, what a woman wants chocolate. **Beau ordered the Banana Chocolate Cream Pie. We both took a bite, then brought it to go to finish later, since we were STUFFED. It was also amazing(and I actually liked it even more than the German Chocolate Cake, if that can be believed!) Good crust, creamy pudding-like banana filling, chocolate-fudgey topping and torched marshmallow fluffy stuff. All in all, great evening, great experience. I WILL be back for the gnocci!

The restaurant is located in a nice part of Jersey City. We choose Satis Bistro for Hudson Restaurant week. When we arrived, the restaurant was very busy. Both outdoor and indoor tables were filled. The inside of the restaurant did not seem to have plenty of seating, but on a nice day, there’s lots of outdoor seating. Appetizer: I ordered the Papayas Bravas. When it arrived, the dish looked great, almost like a fancy version of Taco Bell’s cheesy fiesta potatoes. Unfortunately, as good as the dish looked, it was unenjoyably very salty. However, the deviled scotch eggs my girlfriend ordered were delicious, but served with a very small portion. Entrée: I ordered the Cast Iron Roasted Chicken. I did not care to much for the Broccoli salad, but the chicken was cooked perfectly. Although it was on the salty side once again, it was delicious. Dessert: The best part of the meal. My Sweet Corn Panna Cotta was had a great texture and taste. It was served with blueberry and cornmeal shortbread. Were it not for over salting, the experience at Satis Bistro was a pleasant one.

I was so impressed by this gem. The presence of being in this space was extremely welcoming with its plant fixtures and ample amount of pillows. I loved coming here at night because the aesthetics combined with its atmosphere added to the experience first hand. We sat outside on the patio, great location for being on the corner of Washington St in downtown. I was so ready for dessert so I went ahead and ordered the banana chocolate cream pie with a glass of café carajillo, a pungent taste of dark ages run and espresso. Whew! My date had ordered the mussels with a side of arugula salad instead of pomme frites. Now, I’m always on the hunt for the tastiest bowl of mussels considering my newly found love of them from a recent trip to Paris this summer. And Satis did mussels right. The taste was not simple, but in its complexity it was nothing short of amazing. I loved the flavor and the garnishes that was later accompanied by pieces of bread, dipped in what I call a fountain of youth. This dinner gave me life. Food is the ultimate comfort ! I will definitely come back to try out other entrees or a nice cheese plate during happy hour.

I’ve been here twice so far, once for brunch and once for dinner! I must say I like the dinner selection better than the brunch though. Service is great, the waiters are very friendly, and portions are generous. Atmosphere is pretty nice too, they have an outdoor space as well as indoor seating and the interior is really cute, perfect for date night :) For brunch, we ordered the chef’s selection meat and cheese platter, the brisket and eggs, and the burger. — Chef’s selection meat/cheese platter: SO good! comes with saucisson sec, prosciutto, murcia al vino cheese and(i think) manchego cheese. plus apricot honey mustard and little gherkins! my favorite is the murcia al vino, it is super creamy and just amazing. Definitely eat with the apricot mustard and some prosciutto on bread. — brisket and potato hash with eggs and harissa: having never had harissa before, i wasn’t expecting it to be quite so spicy! it has a serious kick! kind of tastes like korean gochujang, but with more dry heat, if that makes sense. it was honestly a little too hot for me so i used it sparingly. eggs were ok, i wished there were more potato as i felt the brisket was a bit overwhelming and one-note. ultimately i regretted not ordering the baked eggs instead — maybe next time. — burger: fiancé ordered this, thought it was pretty good! he ordered bacon on the side to put in the burger cuz that’s how he rolls. :) fries were good, patty was cooked nicely, not much more to say. Dinner selection was much more our taste. We got the meat and cheese platter again because it was amazing and it was just as good, i think there might have been more cheese this time? not sure. We also got patatas bravas, lamb loin and the oxtail. — patatas bravas: amazing. but got a little salty towards the end. much better overall than the one at raval, although admittedly not as good as my #1 at barcelona. but definitely the best patatas bravas i’ve had so far in the city. — lamb loin: came with tzatziki and potatoes. the meat itself was cooked beautifully to a medium, but all in all i prefer the chop cut and loin just isn’t as flavorful a cut imo. i’m also not a huge fan of greek preparations of lamb so there is that. — oxtail with risotto: soooo good! tender, flavorful oxtail on equally flavorful, perfectly cooked risotto! i ate every. last. bite. it was amazing. Wish we’d found this place earlier!

The only regret I have about coming here is that it was Mother’s Day so it was really busy and the service was a little less attentive than I think it would have been otherwise. I was glad there was no prix fixe menu though. The food was stuffed with rich cheeses, stacked on or in thick brioches and topped with perfectly cooked eggs. Well, at least that’s what you would gather from our tablescape. Do not try to skimp on the calories here because you will definitely regret not indulging. Between my family we had the Baked Eggs over Creamy Polenta, Poached Eggs for Brioche, Croque Monsieur and Grilled Chicken Sandwich. All the egg dishes were delicious and decadent. My sister didn’t care for her chicken sandwich and fries, she said it was mediocre at best. So stick with anything with eggs, brioche french toast or gnocchi. Get dessert but skip coffee and/or espresso — odds are you can find something better from a coffee shop nearby. I didn’t get to see the wine bar, but I imagine a sharing a meat & cheese board here would be enjoyable.
