The olive bread, the thin olive bread, the thin olive bread. Did I say the think olive bread. The best bread up to this point, I made a sandwich with their imported cold cuts, this is a great great bakery with the best bread in the area.

Stopped by for a sandwich and ended up getting a Nutella croissant as well. I had a Forte dei Marmi, with tomato and mozzarella and even though it was simple, the ingredients were fresh and the focaccia was really good. The croissant was one of the best I’ve ever had, delicious! Reasonable prices. Next time, I’ll try their Pan di Ramerino and Pancioc. A small business well worth patronizing!

I have ordered from Prato several times already! The delivery is not very slow as expected! Nice services from Prato! Chocolate Cantucci is worth to try n I personally think which is the best item on the menu! It seems really heavy and sweet by it’s outlook, BUT, it’s perfectly sweetened! Not too sweet but tasted just right, soft, a bit chewy and moist! I m not a chocolate lover, but I think I would like to try more chocolate pastries after having chocolate Cantucci from Prato! It’s really good! I love it :)) Pan Brioche Nutella and Pan Brioche with jams are the other pastries I ordered almost every time! The bread is very soft and tasted nice with Nutella and jams in it! Yum yum… Brutti bruoni is also very popular item in the store. It’s not hard but very soft in the centre with a bit crispy layer outside of it. It’s also doesn’t overly sweetened! Worth to try! Other than Brutti Bruoni and chocolate Cantucci, almond cantucci also not bad! ;)

If you’re looking for the trendiest coffee shop/bakery in Jersey City, I would definitely nominate Prato Bakery. They have the most inviting entrance filled with plants and vintage signs and trinkets. Inside is a large open space with a bunch of seating and the most fun décor covering all the walls. The display of croissants, cookies, biscuits and focaccia swill definitely catch your attention just as much as the adorable décor. Everything is made fresh and is so tasty! My boyfriend and I tried this place for the first time during Memorial Day weekend and Cant wait to go back! We came for brunch time and had a tasty meal! To start we got an iced coffee and a cappuccino. Both refreshing and delicious. To eat I ordered the zucchini focaccia and my boyfriend ordered the Manhattan. Neither of us can resist sweets do we each got a chocolate cantucci. I can’t wait to go back and try more. This place is so cute!

We love coming to Prato! We had their cantuci, pizza(or pizza-esque bread with sauce and cheese), various sandwiches, cappuccino and Italian donuts that tastes like a cake and donut got married and had a baby. We come here often and never get tired of it! You will not be disappointed.

This is the perfect neighborhood café in my opinion. Right from the décor, to the people who make your coffee to the amazingly tasty flat breads and cookies. I love spending a few hours reading something or talking to my friends here over the weekend. My favorite cookie of theirs is the brutti ma buoni, you have to try this, its very meringue-y but so much better and nutty. All their cantuccis are awesome, my favorite is the almond one. I havent tried all their flatbreads or the famous pancioc, I usually stick to my favorites. I have tried all their breads though, the white tuscan bread is my favorite to make grilled cheese at home, the cibatta is pretty awesome as well. They also sell a few Italian products in the store. I will be going to this many many times more.

My wife and I stopped for a latte and got a couples of cornettos too. The bakery production is placed at the rear of the store and you can see it all, from dought preparation to the baking. Awesome place and nice ambient. If you are looking for the real Italian style taste this is the right place to go. The focaccia sandwiches look delicious. Very professional service, all the Bakery staff members are very kind and gentle.

I recently discovered this place my accident, thank the Gods! Their specialty is cantucci and holy moly, its probably the best I’ve ever had. The chocolate one is by far my fave, second to the almond. I definitely will be returning here to try their other items tho!

My first Unilocal review! Really a 3 ½ leaning towards 4 star rating. Tired of our local lunch spots I was scouring Unilocal to find something GOOD somewhat close to my office in the Newport are. I found Prato Bakery and convinced my coworker to drive over. We were lucky enough to grab a parking spot so we decided to sit down there to eat. I was immediately smitten by the very European vibe of the place, and I wanted to try everything they had on display — it all looked really yummy! We decided to share a porchetta sandwich and a prosciutto sandwich. They were both very good, but we were immediately struck that they were both cold. Reading through reviews I notice many comments noting how much better these sandwiches would be if they were heated up, and I wholeheartedly agree. The quality of both meats were outstanding — fresh and flavorful. The bread — or foccacia was great HOWEVER, I felt that it did not suit the meats at all, particularly the porchetta. I felt they competed rather than married. I would have preferred a more bready, spongey bread to soak up the fat. Speaking of the fat — here is my biggest gripe. The meat is very fatty — that’s what makes it so delicious– so WHY would they add olive oil to the bread? AHH it was fat on top of super fat and so utterly unnecessary! We finished with two chocolate cantucci. Once again, these would have been to die for warmed up — yummm. They were really delicious though. All in all, I gave it 4 stars for the quality and ambience. It was also a shockingly good value, but with a few improvements it would be a solid five star establiment.

This is a place that cannot be missed! This is the best true ITALIAN focacceria in NJ! Everything is fresh and delicious. Traditional reciepies for the origianal flat bread directly from the heart of Tuscany! The true Focaccia with the best Prosciutto and mozzarella. To end your meal try the Cantucci a typical variety of biscuit from the Florence area, chocolate, apricot and figs are my favorite! Guys this place is a 10 stars! You can sit and enjoy the delicious food, they have also a kids areas too!

I’m not a fan any more. The service and quality has gone downhill significantly. I went inside to grab something small and ended up disappointed. First of all have things labeled properly to avoid customers ordering the wrong items and the employee of a sour face. Lastly I didn’t buy anything with chocolate and the bag and wrap was full of it. Makes you think of the sanitary conditions. Do they reissue?

This review is for the Cantucci(biscotti) as I haven’t tried any of their other offerings. Love these cantucci, especially the chocolate, but really they are all soo good. Good coffee also. Great spot to stop in and have a cup and grab a few Cantucci to satisfy your sweet tooth. One of these days Ill try some of their lunch items… they look good.

We’re not exactly hurting for coffee shops in the downtown JC area, but Prato does it right. As a coffee shop, they have everything you need for a morning pick-me-up. The charm in Prato, though, is that it’s more than that. It’s a real treat to have a legitimate Italian bakery in town — they’ve got cantucci, stuffed foccacia, and a variety of savory treats, too. Depending on where you normally go for breakfast, Prato’s sandwiches can be on the pricier end for what you get, but the porchetta on weekends at about $ 5 has the best value, in my opinion.

Coming here was a total accident. My BFF and I were driving around just checking out our old ‘hood when we noticed the bakery. We decided we needed to try it right then and there in case we forgot later. Walking in, it’s super cute, and it actually goes back pretty far. They are fresh breads they bake right there, you can even walk to the back to see their ovens. Pizzas, sandwiches, focaccia, brioche sandwiches, biscotti, you name it. Very euro café. Love! We didn’t really try anything other than the biscottis(apricot, almond and fig) m which were delicious. But don’t worry, we will be back. I’ll admit though, I saw all the cured meats hanging and I tried to order half a pound of prosciutto for my boyfriend, and ever since Carrino Provisions closed, I’ve been looking for a place, but unfortunately, I was informed they only sell the prosciutto and other meats on the sandwiches only. Oh well.

Prato was really a gem that we found in our area! First of all, if you’re looking for a place that’s warm and inviting, this is it! They offer delicious varieties of sandwiches made with focaccia bread. The one we had was made with porchetta and it was so good! We kept saying how good it was as we were eating it, haha. :) I actually can’t wait to go back for more of it! I also really enjoyed their variety of cantucci or cookies. Just a few tips on how this place can go from awesome to phenomenal in my humble opinion: serve the bread & porchetta warm in the sandwich, heat up the pizza(we had that too!) a bit longer so that the crust has a little more of a crunch and the cheese melts more. We also got bread stuffed with chocolate — yummy, but again, I think the flavor would be elevated if just made a bit warm before serving. Just friendly suggestions. Either way, I can’t wait to go back! Friendly staff and owner, too!

I’ve only been here once, but it was a pretty good experience. 1) I got a large Americano, and it was really good. Delicious and strong, but not overpowering. It was served in a glass, which at first I thought was weird, but I was relieved to find that whatever glasses they use are tempered well and did not burn my hand when picking it up. 2) I ordered the focaccia with Nutella because it looked so good and who doesn’t love nutella, but was sadly disappointed. It was cold and hard and felt kind of stale. I don’t know how long they’d been sitting out or if it would’ve been a little better warmed, but I didn’t like it. However, other reviews rave about it, so maybe later down the line I’ll give it another try. My friend and I shared a plate of their cantucci cookies, and they totally lived up to the hype!!! They’re small and cute, but very filling. They have a wide variety of flavors, my favorite being the brutto buoni and chocolate. I will definitely be coming back for the cantucci. =D But if sweets aren’t your thing, they also have a selection of breads, sandwiches, and pizza. 3) It’s a good sized bakery/café with a good amount of seating available. It’s a pretty chill spot with people coming and going pretty often, but I never felt crowded even when it was busy and people lining up to the register. It’s an Italian bakery, so they have a lot of Italian decorations and products on display. They also have a little kiddy corner for kids to play in, which is cleverly placed in an area of the café that comfortably fits one or two strollers without being in the way or having to park them outside. And of course free wifi, which is always a plus for me. Long story short, I will be back again lol They almost lost me at the focaccia with Nutella, but they definitely won me back with the cantucci.

Yum! What a fun little Bakery near 3rd& Erie. My boyfriend and I passed this place today on our way to help his friend shovel her car out. Thank you Blizzard Jonas! We stopped in for some lunch. It was packed at 2pm, no seats open and the line was long — I’m guessing everyone finished shoveling their cars out and were looking for something to eat. I ordered two Manhattan sandwiches and a chocolate croissant. Altogether, it was $ 14, which is not too bad. The Manhattan sandwiches were good, but they would’ve been so much better if warm. I really wish they had heated it up! The prosciutto, tomato and mozzarella were delicious and fresh. The focaccia bread was nice, but again would’ve been amazing if it was heated. Chocolate croissant was sooo delicious. Their croissants are MASSIVE, the biggest ones I’ve seen in Jersey City. They are crispy, fluffy goodness. The nutella is even better when it’s all melted and gooey. Yummmmm. I really like the atmosphere as well. It was very nice and quaint and has a very European vibe to it. I will definitely be back again!

Prato Bakery is my favorite coffeehouse in Jersey City. Not only is it Italian —(100 points!), but they make delicious coffee, always have a juicy porchetta ready, and make the best cookies, pizza, and sandwiches. It’s one of those places you can just go to grab a tomato, mozz, on foccacia and it tastes amazing because the ingredients are so fresh. I love this place. It’s also very inviting in here. There’s light and an incredible amount of space for you to kick back, relax, have a hot beverage by yourself or with someone equally as cool.

I’m not super into bakery sweets, so Prato has been on my must-try list because of their savory offerings and chic Euro café vibe. I came in for lunch a few days ago and will definitely be returning again. I mean, why would I ever go to Subway when I could walk a few extra blocks for this? Their focaccia is the freshest that I’ve ever tasted. It even rivals what I’ve tried at Eately which is definitely saying alot. It’s doughy, flakey, garlicky and not too oily. You can order it standalone, as a pizza or as a sandwich. Although the pizza was definitely tempting I ended up going with a sandwich. There were lots of options to choose from with assorted meats, cheeses and veggies but I kept it pretty simple with a prosciutto and mozzarella combo. The mozz was a little skimpy but there was lots of tasty prosciutto to make up for it. A sandwich was the perfect size for lunch — not too filling, but definitely enough to satisfy my appetite. Perfect for me because I hate eating too much during the middle of the day. It’s an extra ten minute walk from a bunch of other lunch options, but I wouldn’t mind going out of the way again for a fresh and tasty Italian sandwich!

Discovered this place recently and WOW I’ve already been here way too many times. It’s a little less than a mile walking distance from my place so once I make it there, I always make sure to reward myself with their specialty the cantucci cookies! What is a cantucci cookie you may ask? It’s basically what happens when a biscotti and croissant have babies and create deliciousness. First let me tell you about space itself. Incredibly spacious, the front area is like my inner 6 year old’s dream come true — fully equipped with pillows, blankets and even a little tent. Not only is it kid friendly, but they also have 6 or 7 mini tables and stools and a bar area, more than enough space for people that want to work for a few hours or enjoy a coffee while they sit and read. And free WiFi! This place is a dream. Then all the way in the back, they have a huge bakers suite where everything is being made in house and is super fresh. The last time I was there, we ordered the chocolate cantucci cookies which had JUST come out of the oven… so the chocolate was still all melty in the middle… ok I need to stop drooling. So far I’ve only had their cantucci cookies(can you tell how I am slightly obsessed with them) but their sandwiches look great too. I mean with everything being made in house, how can you go wrong! What we ordered: Latte — delicious, esp with the cantucci cookies as an accompaniment Prune cantucci — second favorite after the chocolate cantucci Chocolate cantucci — AMAZING Apricot cantucci Almond cantucci And the staff and service! Oh my goodness. I believe its family owned and you could definitely get that vibe. The first time I came, a little boy, maybe 5 or 6 years old, was paying for some cookies with cash that his mom gave him. He was a few dollars short, however the cashier told him it would be on the house. So sweet and so refreshing to see! The second time, I brought some family members to check it out. My cousin loved the canctucci cookies so much that he decided to take some home with him. Luckily for him they had just come out of the oven. However also because they had just come out of the oven, if they had been cut up, it would have been messy because the chocolate was still melted on the inside. So she gave him the entire loaf! Seriously love this place. Will be taking all of our guests here!
