This place is a jersey city diamond in the rough! The cook/waiter/host is awesome and very courteous. I had the crab cake rice bowl and it blew my mind. I cleaned off my plate! It is purposely funky and hole in the wall looking but that’s what is so great about it. You would never think a random place on baldwin would serve such amazing thai. I enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

The owner is really friendly and the place is worth the trek. Very few places like this left. Small menu cooked to order. You can see him cooking. Fresh, great flavor. It’s unique… not your average thai. I’m korean and I tasted a lot of korean flavor, which was really interesting. Off the beaten path and not in the best area, but who cares. Good food is worth it!

Had the squid pad thai which was yummy and flavorful. It’s not traditional pad thai, the noodles are thin and the sauce is tangier. The owner is so nice and always looks happy to welcome, serve, and cook for you. You can tell he really cares about your dining experience.

Well I don’t understand what the hype is all about this place. We specially drove here to eat, ditching our regular Thai spots. Before I start reviewing the food here, I’d say the owner(sole person) working here is super nice and professional, he does almost everything here right from cooking food, taking orders etc. We were very hungry when we came here and ordered food right away, food came out a lot quicker than we expected which was nice. Now coming to flavors, we didn’t really like the whole twist on traditional Thai dishes which chef does here. One dish which we ordered was supposed to be spicy but all he did was add red spice on top of the dish and on top of that flavors of both dishes were quite strange and we didn’t really like it. Place gets 3 stars because of the nice owner and cool/funny setup.

Ordered through Unilocal Eat24 for pickup. First issue was I ordered the Green Tea blender drink but when I got to the restaurant the chef/owner informed me that they don’t make that one anymore. No biggie except he shoulda called and let me know beforehand. I chose the Red Bean instead which I didn’t like it tasted really powdery.(I’ve had red bean drinks and desserts before). Then I ordered a crab cake pad thai and a shrimp pad Thai. but when I got home I realized he gave me a crab cake and a squid. Overall the food was delicious. So unique and flavorful. I definitely want to go back and eat at the actual restaurant and will definitely order more to go again(but I’ll be sure to check the order before I head home). The owner/chef was so nice but he seemed a bit overwhelmed. he also has the most adorable son ever!

Jersey City is not crushin’ it when it comes to Thai food, but Pr&ince is doing it’s part to rectify the situation. This restaurant may be best suited for takeout due to a small eat-in space that is still in the process of being renovated, but there are a half dozen tables if you care to eat in. You can tell by the size and uniqueness of the menu that the owner really cares about what is coming out of his kitchen. The menu consists of about 8 different protein choices served 3 ways: rice bowl, pad thai, and salad. Also on the menu are a variety of smoothies. On my visit I had a blueberry smoothie(large portion size) and crab cake pad thai. My dish’s protein was not the only unconventional item present, the noodles were not the traditional kind but rather angle hair noodles. I really liked my dish and will definitely be back soon. The area Pr&ince is located in needs more restaurants so it is great to have a new restaurant open up here. I am looking forward to seeing this place grow; to have the renovations completed and hopefully some appetizers added to the menu.

I reallly wanted to like this place because the owner/chef was the man. So nice and was super excited to interact with me. I ordered the curry chicken pad thai and the bbq pork belly pad thai to go. Both were ready when I got there 10 – 15 mins later as the owner had mentioned. The curry chicken was better than the bbq pork but even that was OK at best. I love pork belly but did not like this dish. I also didn’t care for the vermicelli noodles, I guess I prefer a more traditional pad thai noodle/dish…

A great Thai place gem and edition to jersey city. Love the flavors and for the price that good can’t complain. The chicken or shrimp Thai are my favorites. The one thing i dislike a bit is I feel the portions are a bit small. Recently the eating area was expanded a bit inside and its a BYOB if you decide to eat in. Do not expect a huge restaurant wit full service though. This place is perfect for a nice light lunch. In the Dickinson area behind Mcdonalds.

Literally the best Thai food I have had in the NYC area. I have tried a litany of Thai restaurants across Hell’s Kitchen. This takes the cake for authenticity. The food tastes homemade. You can get pretty much every dish for 10 bucks or less. Also, they accept credit cards.

This is your hole in the wall local Thai spot to come to for a rice/noodle bowl or pad Thai. Also, this place is called the Prince & I, owner named it after his son. I am a diehard local business supporter so off the bat I am courted. Onto the food.. . Pad Thai is made with vermicelli noodles and have a sweet tangy flavor that is well balanced and addictive. It’s a perfect size lunch portion. Tried the crab cake and pork belly, loved both. I am a sucker for pork belly. Just. Wanted. More. Pork. Belly. It was tender and flavorful; melt in your mouth good. Less enjoyable, the smoked salmon salad which we just kind of picked at. It was a bit greasy for my tastes. Will skip salad and try the rice bowl next time. However.. . If I am around journal square and the craving for a smoothie hits I am popping in here and getting one. These are ice based chia seed smoothies, we sucked them right down. Highly recommend the Thai ice tea one. First time having this unique kind of drink anywhere. 4 star rating because I may have been spoiled by amazing Thai food. Spoke with owner as he is the chef/waiter extensively and he agreed it is a small easy menu. My hope is he expands the menu a bit and offers more weekly specials because this man is far too talented to only serve simple items. Unilocalers, please alert me if/when new menu items are introduced. In the meantime, stop by to check out a talented chef who cooks with his soul. And some awesome chalk boards plus pictures his son drew hang all around the walls.

So I went here tonight thinking that the food was going to be out of this world, exceptional, 5 stars, but what I got was less than appetizing. When I entered the restaurant, me and my boyfriend were greeted by the owner which was also our waiter and surprisingly our chef as well. He was very nice and was quick to seat us and serve us. The service was great and all considering it was only one man. But when the food came out that’s when you notice how much strain this man is going through. I ordered the smoked salmon salad expecting it to be light and fresh but what I got was something that tasted like it was drenched in fish sauce and vinegar. I didn’t think a salad could be so salty but this proved me wrong. My boyfriend got the the pork belly pad Thai, considering the other reviews raved about this dish, but it was sub par at best. The angel hair noodles made it feel more like an Italian spaghetti dish. It is a step away from traditional thai cuisine. All in all, the atmosphere was great, the service was great, but the food was a little disappointing.

I came here for dinner on a Thursday night. I found this place because I live a few blocks away and searched for restaurants nearby on Unilocal.I would have never known about this place if it was not for Unilocal. This place is literally a hole in the wall kind of restaurant. The restaurant is quite small, but I like the atmosphere of it. It is definitely different and unique. This place is owned and worked by one man so I give him a lot of credit for doing all of this. He puts pictures up that his kids drew, which I thought was very nice. On to the food. I ordered the BBQ Pork Belly Pad Thai dish. He uses angel hair rice noodles, which is different from what I am used to when I eat pad thai. When he brought the dish out, I was not expecting such a nice presentation of the dish. The dish was absolutely delicious. I am a huge fan of Pork Belly and he definitely surprised me with his unique flavored pork belly. It was cooked to perfection and it had a little kick to it. I definitely recommend this dish. I also ordered the Thai Iced Tea with Rice Milk. This was a game changer. I never had a Thai Iced Tea that tasted like this place before. He adds chia seeds to the slushy like drink. Overall, great hole in the wall local Thai spot to visit. I will definitely be returning here to try the other dishes they have to offer.

For once I didn’t do the Unilocaling and let my friend take charge and we landed at Pr&ince ! First off… don’t let the empty, hole in the wall vibe drift you off somewhere else. Take a seat and let the owner, waiter, chef(Yes he does it all) Yuth, explain why everything on the menu is yummy. His confidence is backed up by the dishes he delivers. While Yuth was cooking, two other patrons stopped by and took a seat. It did get difficult for Yuth to multi-task. They got tired of waiting and left. So keep that in mind if you are staying to eat — you might have to wait because there are no other waiters BUT just be patient — go draw on the chalkboard in the meantime. The food is fresh and packed with flavors! I had the pineapple fried rice with shrimp. My friend had the curry shrimp pad Thai — everything was SO good. It’s cheap especially considering the portion sizes. Definitely will come by again the next time I am craving some Thai food!

SO. FREAKIN. GOOD. It’s so good that that I ordered here twice in the same week while my boyfriend’s sister ate here 3 times in the same week! I had the Chicken Curry Bowl, the Poached White Fish Rice Bowl, and the Chicken Pineapple Fried Rice. The menu has a new take on Thai food and it’s freakin awesome! TRYYYITTT!

Damn ok. So first time I ever came here, I didn’t know what to expect but my friend swore by this place. Honestly, I feel like everyone will rave about almost any Thai place and I’m usually not at all sure that I can tell«good Thai» from normal Thai food. I can tell you though that I KNOW this place has good thai food. The portions are small — but their combination of flavors is spot on. Not too sweet or oily like a lot of other places. Their pad thai is also made with super fine angel hair pasta. Seems weird, but it put much more emphasis on the other parts of the dish. I don’t live in Jersey City anymore, but I know I’m going to be bringing people here in the next few months. It might look pretty hole in the wall from the outside, but the small space actually offers a super intimate atmosphere and the guy who makes the food is so friendly and helpful. Try it!!!

My friends and I were feening for Thai one night, and Pr&ince happened to be a few blocks from my friends house. I trusted the perfect 5 star rating I saw and we walked over. I did not expect a take out looking joint with 2 tables. We sat down anyway, and I got to draw on the chalkboard while waiting for my Thai tea. I took a look at the menu and was quickly confused. I hate to be that guy, but this was unlike any Thai food I’ve ever had. I wanted pad kee mao, aka drunken noodles, to gauge this place against every other Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to. The menu had 3 options with different proteins: My Pad Thai, My Spicy Noodles, and My Rice Bowl. I asked if the owner/chef/waiter(the one person working there) if they had pad kee mao. He mentioned that none of the menu items were traditional Thai, and he suggested I order the My Spicy Noodles instead. So I ordered them with roast chicken. My Thai Tea came out as a slush, loaded with chia seeds. Unexpected, but good. My Spicy Noodles were not spicy at all. In fact, the first thing I noticed was that they smelled heavily of gochujang, a fermented soy chili paste from Korea. I also realized that the music being played in the restaurant was Korean. My Spicy Noodles turned out to be pretty good, but not 5 stars amazing. This was nothing like any Thai dish I’ve ever had. The noodles were buckwheat noodles, very similar to Japanese soba noodles. The portion size was a bit on the smaller side too. If you’re looking to satisfy a Thai craving, this probably isn’t the spot. But if you wanna try something different, go for it. Although you’re probably better off getting takeout.

Looking for a taste of something exciting and different in Jersey City? Love Thai and want to discover a new experience of enjoying it? Love hole-in-the-wall quirky places with a personality? In that case head to Pr&ince!(How did they come up with this name??? I need to investigate next time around!) This is a one-man show by the owner-entrepreneur-chef Yuth, himself a passionate ever-smiling guy who makes you feel comfortable and welcome in his small, fun restaurant. There are only two tables, that seat approximately six people, so you may be better off with take out. We got lucky during lunch hours and were able to sit here and experience a meal. I got the Poached white fish rice bowl with tamarind, chili lime juice — be prepared for the burst of flavors… sweet, sour and a nice kick of the spice. The star of the dish was really the tamarind-onion-sauce type salsa — incredibly well done and no skimping on the fish. The husband had the Spicy buckwheat noodles with shrimp and squid and loved his lunch too. The noodles are drenched in a light tangy sauce, that’s not too overpowering, just perfect and tons of veggies… with the shrimp and squid adding a layer of richness to the dish. We couldn’t resist trying the cereal blender drinks — piña colada with chia seeds and strawberry with coconut milk respectively. Both were insanely good, but really filling. I plan to just concentrate on my meal the next time I’m here — NO other distractions!

I can’t even begin to describe how delicious my meal was last night at Pr&ince. This small hole in the wall really knows how to punch flavor into their dishes. We were greeted by the owner, Yuth, who as first seemed shy but then became so energetic when talking to us about his dishes. We asked him what is the best dish which of course his response was, everything. its all great food! Yuth really prides himself in making the best flavorful dishes on his menu. He went over most of his dishes explaining how he cooks them, which you should order, and a bit of his cooking history. You really felt welcomed here. I ordered the pan seared crab cake pad thai and it was perfectly cooked. Yuth informed us that he likes to cook his pad thai with thin noodles because they add more flavor and I must agree. The dish was delicious and might even go as far as saying its probably one of the best pad thai I’ve had. I also ordered the Pina Colada blender with chia seeds, of course! This tasted so natural and refreshing you can taste the coconut shreds and pineapple. Watching Yuth make our food was as almost watching an artist paint a picture. He was so into and let me tell you the dishes were fantastic. I look forward to coming back and trying other dishes on the menu. The pork belly pad thai was also so good and full of flavor.

Why 5 Stars? Value. Inside this tiny but charming little space with 2 small tables and chairs that look like children’s furniture, the chef makes dishes using fresh ingredients and really good flavors. $ 9 for the pork belly dish, $ 10 for the fish in green curry. Both excellent and each rice bowl can feed 2 people.

This place is tight yo! Like fresh nah mean. But it’s also tight as in the store is freakin small! Seriously this place is so inconspicuous that there’s no way people would even know about it unless they found the business on Unilocal or heard about it from someone. Luckily my home-girl MC suggested that we should give it a try. And I’m glad we did cause this place is legit. The restaurant seats 7 people max so take-out would be advisable but thankfully when we visited no one was there. We grabbed a seat by the window and the owner and chef gave us the menu to look over. He would be the one cooking everything for us today. The dude really made us feel right at home. So we started off with his cereal blender drinks. I had black sesame and rice milk and she had the Thai ice tea also with rice milk. I got to try both drinks and honestly the experience is hard to describe. You can taste the chia seed and the rice, which gives the drink a very earthy flavor, but in the same token it’s almost light and fluffy and sweet. Like I said it’s hard to describe regardless I finished mine because I actually liked it. For entrées we ordered curry chicken rice bowl and shrimp pad Thai. The curry chicken was served over a bed of jasmine rice and was so delish. It just had the right amount of kick and flavor. No nonsense fusion dish here people. It’s one man cooking what he knows and loves and you can tell with each bite. The tangy sauce, the perfectly cooked chicken, the vegetables, and even the fresh scallions on top melded beautifully. The pad Thai was another winner – shrimp, bean sprouts, tamarind chutney, and a bunch of other ingredients all mixed in with angel hair rice noodles was beyond scrumptious. I felt like I was instantly transported to Damnoen Saduak floating market in Thailand where they serve up dishes like the ones I’ve mentioned above. I really wish this place great luck on their journey. If they keep churning out delicious dishes that do not compromise on flavor I know they’ll have much success. I’m very picky when it comes to Thai food but as for Pr&ince it has earned my certified fresh seal of approval. And that my fine ladies and gentleman is tight!
