We came here and ordered two iced lattes, after a recommendation from the batista. They were made with their coffee concentrate mixed with milk. Super fast. The batista was very friendly and chatted with us for a bit after we got our drinks, which were fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

The best. I love coming here. The coffee is so good. The faces so friendly. My idea of a great treat. Thankful for these guys in the neighborhood. Not to mention the view on a pretty day!

Best coffee/expresso in Hudson county. Period. Try the mocha, buy a bag of beans to take home or do both. Get a nitro. Ask the barista for a recommendation. This is one ‘bar’ where every choice you make is a good one!

This place has an awesome atmosphere with a retro, rustic twist. It is really cozy with some indoor and outdoor seating. Great service and staff and the coffee here is delicious. Specifically the cold brew. The cold brew coffee is so addicitng.

9 out of 10 Hipsters Approve A welcome addition to the neighborhood, just across from a small park with views of NYC. The place is cozy(small but comfy), smartly decorated & the staff is friendly. I’ve only ordered espresso + 4 oz. or 6 oz., several times & it’s heaven.

A small space creating perfectly textured milk for an afternoon latte. Walk across the street with your drink and enjoy the view from the park.

If you gotta do coffee, do it right. Tried the coldbrew. Waste of money. Bitter, angry, acidic, nasty, nauseating… And, that was the coffee. Nice people though.

A little hole in the wall coffee spot with really good coffee. Their coffee is high quality and the price shows it. I didn’t mind the wait, I know good coffee takes more than a minute to make.

The cold brew is strong and pretty amazing. Friendly staff, very tight space however and not conducive to hanging out in for an extended period of time. A hipster vibe, a bit pricey but well worth the trip out. Looking forward to their new location in JSQ.

So excited they have found a store front! Coffee is for those with a sophisticated taste bud! I do miss the coffee truck and playing where’s Waldo trying to figure out where they are going to be that day!

Trendy hole in the wall. I like the concept of fair trade coffee and it’s something I regularly support, but although the staff is very friendly, the effort and service put into the product is minimal. I like to be served good coffee, especially when it’s kind of pricey. Not just given a smile and handed a cup half full that was poured from what looks like someone’s personal coffee maker –_– I do have to say that the staff are very nice and I hope they work on their presentation a little. It would make a big difference.

Fantastic coffee, curated rock and roll vibe – slightly bigger than a phone booth, but maybe the best coffee I’ve found in NJ. Would definitely go back for a pour over or cappuccino.

I love this place. I think every time I visit I would come here for their coffee. I love how they weigh out their coffee and gets a precise temperature for your coffee.

Terrific coffee, and if you’re up for a tutorial about proper brewing techniques, coffee origin, and type of beans you’re at the right place. You can feel the passion that goes into brewing every cup. Not cheap, but well crafted artisanal products usually aren’t. Holding me back from giving it 5 stars are, perhaps, two things out of their control-to wit, the dearth of parking and the almost studio cast of wannabe hipsters who frequent the place.

I had heard about this coffee shop from a friend so when I was in the neighborhood for an open house I stopped in after my appointment. I didn’t realize how small the space was until I was inside with 5 other people plus my party of 3. Things were a weeee bit tight but no sense in worrying because Milo, the barista, was able to take command of the room and make the 4 other tasks he was simultaneously performing look like cake. Whats so special about this place? They brew their drip coffees TOORDER; hence the crowds and lines. They had 4 different blends: Costa Rica, Kenya, Ethiopia & Bali. I can’t say with certainty that these options are always available but in any event, this is what they had. I’m not a hugeee fan of drip coffee so I opted for an espresso with almond milk(AKA a latte) and it was phenomenal. A perfectly dark and aromatic roast… yum yum yum. I took a sip of someone else’s drip(the Costa Rica) and it had such an intriguing flavor, honestly unlike any other I’ve ever had. They also had a few croissants and pastries from Choc-O-Pain, which is equally as amazing so that was another plus. If I don’t get the opportunity to live near Modcup, I will make it a point to stop by for a coffee on a weekend afternoon. This is the type of place that makes me want to sit outside(with beautiful NYC I might add!) forever with a bottomless brew. Now, if only my bank account wasn’t in issue…

Inquired by a hipster vibe, an espresso connoisseur, or just a fantastic view of the city, look no further. This place embodies gentrification chic. ‘I don’t care’, ‘live and let live’, ‘oh I used to live in Williamsburg but now I live here’, and it’s 11 am on a Wednesday so naturally I need a Nitro Harry Ice Coffee. Coffee is well priced. The bean is solid. Espresso is strong. Slightly offensive with strength but I didn’t mind it. The staff is beyond knowledgable. Easy to talk to, very chill, friendly, and will give you honest recommendation. However, I can’t say it’s a place id be able to hang out for a long time. The place is small which is part of the charm. Perfect grab and go or stay for 15 mins. When it’s nice, just go across the street to the park.

Cup of mocha is $ 5, but ask any coffeephile and they will say that a cup of brew here is superior to a cup of brew anywhere else. And if that cup of mocha takes ten minutes to make, it damn well should be! Points for not being downtown… I will always give a business extra props for spicing up The Heights or Greenville. When you step foot in here, you may agree that J. C is the 6th Borough. The place feels very«Brooklyn» like and the décor is nice. It’s very small though, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for a place to chill and write Citizen Kane 2. P.S: J. C Is not the 6th borough.

A favorite little spot in my neighborhood ! I indulge here once a week(Saturday or Sunday) and haven’t explored outside of my normal order yet(espresso with milk 10oz). Its just so good ! Other coffee doesn’t live up once having mod cup. The atmosphere is cute, although the payment process is a bit awkward, I’m comfortable with it now after having gone there so many times. The barista is very friendly, but honestly seems a bit worn out — as if he’s been making coffee every day for the last 40 years. My favorite coffee shop though for sure! Good work guys — spot is a gem !

I want to like this place but I just think it’s okay. I came in with my brother — he had the cold brew and I had an iced coffee. We weren’t really that impressed. We love coffee and can always appreciate a good cup but we felt it could have been better. I’m not writing the place off — it’s got a good ambiance and I’d probably go here again, but i was hoping for more for the price.

One of the best cappuccinos I had in the US. I took a detour of half an hour just to try this out, and it was totally worth it. The aroma and cream was excellent, the coffee was in the best imaginable temperature and the milk was whipped professionally, crating a nice micro-bubble foam. I would rate this place a whole 11 out of ten.

Amazing espresso and coffee. I’ve searched high and low for a good cup of coffee. Wasn’t expecting much and was blown away by how good this place was. Beats pants off most high end coffee shops in the city. Great stuff.

Quite possibly one of the best coffee places in the world. Yes you read that right. I’ve tried a lot of places and very few can compare. Their knowledge and passion for coffee is obvious in every sip. And the lack of pretension — very hard to find in the 3rd wave coffee scene. Just cool guys slinging phenomenal coffee.

While visiting NJ my husband and I went several times to Mod Cup, as our friends in the area really liked it. The atmosphere is great(however very small interior), and the barista was very friendly. I would recommend they update their exterior signage ad they were very difficult to spot from the outside. The two drinks I tried were not my favourite. However I could see how others with a more daring palette could be a huge fan. For instance, there was a cold brew that had been put through a keg, and had an almost beer like flavor. Not my fav, but a cool concept. The cappucino I had also tasted oddly fermented. Typically expensive for a third wave type coffee bar, expect 5+ for a drink. Overall a fun place to try if you’re in the area.

I’ve been here twice. The first time was really annoying: I came in one morning and I wanted a good cup of coffee to wake me up. I asked for a cup of coffee and the young man there proceeded to give me a lecture about coffee. I ‘m thinking to myself while he’s talking«Dude, please… not now… it’s like early morning, and my brain needs about two cups before I can even hear a word you’re saying… just give me a frick’n cup of coffee!!! Please… this mutha%^*@$»! So I finally get my coffee, which was … ah-aight at best, but I had one of their truffles which was excellent. Then I got food poisoning! I went there another time about a month ago for Iced coffee. The weakest Iced coffee I’ve ever had! Maybe I should have paid attention to the lecture!

These guys know their coffee. If you come in with that lost puppy look I so often have they will lead you in the right direction to Coffee(or Chai) Heaven. I love that they’re right across from Riverview Park so I can get my fix on Sundays when I go to the Farmer’s Market. Vegans beware: If you order the Iced Chai with Almond Milk, ask them to hold the bee pollen. I like a less-sweet, spicy Chai and this one is awesome. Another favorite of mine is the Iced Mocha with Almond Milk. There isn’t a ton of seating so I don’t know if you could post up here for hours the way that people do at the Bux, however feel free to linger and chat with the staff about beans and things They are very friendly and knowledgeable. In three words: pure unadulterated awesomeness.

Great addition to the Jersey City arts district(the heights). Love the vibe of the place, the guys are really laid back and makes some of the greatest tasting coffees I have ever had. I usually like my coffee with milk and sugar but with their cold brew, I could drink it straight. It was that good. Their mocha is delicious as well, not too sweet. These guys really know their coffee and how to make the perfect cup. Not much sitting room but they do have some outdoor seating. And since its located across from the park, you can certainly sip on your coffee and look at the amazing view of the city. I think more and more people are discovering Mod Cup so the lines have been longer and longer each time I go. But it’s definitely worth the wait.

This one star is for the douchyness of the business owner/manager and how he handled my honest review. I am not a coffee expert and I don’t plan on being one either, but Travas felt personally offended to «school» me on how I should brew my coffee using a specific brewing technique and machine. First of all Travas, I did not give Starbucks(obviously your arch enemy) 5 stars for their coffee but for the convenience and friendliness of the staff, I’m not sure if you saw my latest review at Joe’s proshop, but they got 5 stars for their amazing non stale smooth coffee fyi. Second, if I felt it tasted burnt and stale then thats how I feel, not everyone is a coffee aficionado like you. The term cappuccino is used very«loosely» because thats what majority of the cafes serve and unless you want to school the entire world of using this term loosely i’d suggest you to not go ape shit. Lastly, I went all the way to Jersey City just to get some good(but obviously stale and burnt coffee) and with two kids I really don’t have time to grind each bean and measure the agrtron readings along with the right oxidation. Thanks, Honest Reviewer

Modcup deserves an updated review as they are thriving in the heights and I’ve become an obsessed believer of Mod Coffee and the duo dishing it out. I never understood the importance and oddly-beauty– of a café roasting their own coffee beans(you’ll be surprised [or not] how many shops don’t roast). Not bashing any coffee shops brewing popular brands like Intelligentsia, LaColombe, or Toby’s Estate but it’s an impressive craft to roast your own coffee beans and to find the exact roasting profile to get you a «nearly perfect, cleeeeeeeannnnn cup of coffee.”* It’s an art form and a science folks and Justin and Travas have totally figured it out. *said in Travas’ British accent
