Gazelle Nails

Thoroughly impressed with how my nails look. I’m sure I say this in every nail review I ever write but, I have this conspiracy theory about nail salons: they water down the polish so your nails chip easily. This place not so much.
The place is new and clean and the lady who did my nails was fast and efficient. A few gripes: she picked up her cell phone while doing my nails and had like a 10 minute conversation. Deal breaker for me.
Second gripe: I just paid $ 12 for a great manicure. I was not rubbed once. No hand massage, no arm massage, no shoulder massage. This is literally just for a manicure. $ 12 is pricey. I know this is located in the ground level of the Trump building but really? $ 12 and no 30 second back rub?
The nails do look great though. Gotta give it up. I didn’t mind the color selection, rockin’ a nice newer light gray color from OPI.

Not really a fan of this place. I’ve come here on 2 occasions and both have felt very rushed. The time on the door says that this place closes at 8pm. I called at 530pm for a 6pm appointment and she told me that she didn’t have enough time to do a manicure and pedicure. Ummmm… really? When did those 2 things take 2 hours?! I always feel like she’s trying to close the door at 6pm. If you don’t want to stay open late. then change the times! The nail color selection is minimal. not really anything to brag about. Overall, I’ll use this place if Portofino is super packed or if I really need a manicure and have no where else to do. Otherwise, I’ll stay away from this place.
Oh and in the winter… the heater is on hell. It was so hot that I became congested. Not cool.

If only they had women working there, not just 2 men, (I like my ladies to do my nails). If only my skin didn’t get clipped accidentally when trying to cut my nails, (burly man hands yielding the clippers). If only there were ever patrons inside, maybe I’d be more inpsired to go in too. If only the few times I’ve actually gone there they’ve had more than 1 person working so I didn’t have to wait. If only there were a better selection of nail polishes from brands I’ve actually heard of. If only they didn’t take twice as long to produce the same results as other nail salons. If only they did chair massages. If only, if only…
One thing they do have going for them — they give a decent pedicure as they give a nice scrub and leg massage.
