A Jersey City institution. Pandesal and ensaymada(plain), you can’t go wrong.

I am not Filipina, but I love Chrisitne’s. The ensaymadas are to dream about, so soft and silky, perfect balance of sweet and cheese, the only problem is that you can’t have only one! the ube cake is very good too, but the ensaymadas… OMG! I go there only a few times a year, only because I have to watch my weight! I know that they prepare food on demand for parties and I’ve tried it once it was something like a paella with meat and shrimp and it was delicious! Overall one of my favorite sweet spots in NJ!

It was definitely not horrible, but I felt that there are definitely better filipino bakeries. The polvoron wasn’t that great and either were the pastillas de leche. I did love the mamon and ube cake though! It was little more expensive than I expected it to be… but I don’t think that its any better than Goldilocks. I love that place!

So good. Better than Red Ribbon by a mile. The mango cake is the best I ever had. Better than Goldilocks and Ribbon out in Cali. The mamon is also better as well. It tastes fresher. Although, they put cheese on top of their mamon, did not make a difference. Christines is my new favorite filipino bakery.

Like Sarah said, this place is small, small, small. You walk in, you have two glass refrigerators, or whatever they’re called, that contain the cakes, rolls, etc. My favorite thing to get here is the ensaymada, because it contains everything a growing boy like myself needs: melted butter, shredded cheese, and lots of sugar. Nothing says«healthy» like a nice ensaymada. And from what everybody tells me, the ube cakes here are incredible. I wouldn’t know because I’m not a real Filipino and was apparently adopted by a nice Filipino family.

Despite the small setting, I’m very fond of this place. I prefer this bakery than any other Filipino bakery(with the exception of the Philippine Bread house because you know — pandasal rules.)
