I love Antique Bakery — I’ll come in here every so often when I want some fresh bread. They are reasonably priced and friendly. My only complaint is that I keep reading about the garlic stuffed bread in Unilocal reviews, but have yet to try it. Last time I was in, I asked when is the best time to get the garlic bread and to my disappointment, was told they don’t make it anymore! Bring back the garlic stuffed bread!

best bread ever. i get the medium whole wheat round sliced on a weekly basis. crunchy(but not hard) on the outside, fluffy and perfect on the inside. only $ 3.25. you gotta eat it fast though! since this is the real deal the bread turns after a few days. rolls and specialty bread are great, too — service is fast and friendly.

A true Hoboken gem. This little bakery is tucked away, so that only the locals frequent it. There are loaves and loaves stacked on the wooden shelves in the window and an old school bread slicer right when you walk in. The staff are extremely friendly and will tell you all about the different types of breads. My personal favorites are the ones stuffed with meats and cheeses — yum!

I’ve been driving by for more than a year. Today decided to explore the neighborhood on foot and bought a round loaf of the semolina. It’s the best bread I’ve had since moving to nj

I stopped in here on a lazy Saturday stroll after reading some good Unilocal reviews. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular so I went with a simple but delicious«small» tomato focaccia. It was only $ 2 and delicious — the bread was fluffy and buttery with some great tomato sauce and spices to garnish. And for the«small» it fed more than one.

There are not a lot of places in Hbkn where they sell real bread and not only these artificial sponges. Love the regular and the whole wheat breads and buns. You can perfectly keep the bread a few days without losing much. Good value compared eg to choc o pain or the German bakery. Have not tried the speciality breads yet.

No frills bakery. Best bakery I’ve found in Hoboken. Get the regular loaf and they will slice it for you on the spot.

This lovely, family run bakery is probably my favorite part about Hoboken. I stop by at least once a week to pick up a baguette for dinner or a fresh loaf of whole wheat to keep around for toast and sandwiches. I usually stick the sliced bread the freezer and take it out by the slice as needed — it freezes super well and defrosts under the broiler in 2 minutes(4 minutes for toast!) The bread is SO good! Well seasoned, firm yet pliant and with the perfect amount of chew. So good guys! I’ve also picked up the sandwich rolls for burgers and sausages when I’m BBQing over the summer and they’re absolutely awesome. I haven’t tried any of the stuffed breads yet(I’ve seen sausage, pepperoni and mozzarella and prosciutto on different occasions) but they’re definitely on my must-eat-soon list! Every person I’ve interacted with there is super nice and speedy. They’re often sitting in the back watching TV when I stop by(usually close to there closing time after work) and they always jump up to help the second I walk in. Prices are super, super reasonable. A HUGE loaf of bread(which they’ll slice on request) and a baguette usually runs me 5 bucks. You can’t get a package of processed hot dog buns for 5 bucks! Please support this small business — your wallet and your tummy will thank you!

I came by here a long while ago on a quest to find some fresh bread. This is a terrific choice. $ 2 for a small loaf and $ 5 for a loaf with meat and cheese baked in. That special loaf was so good I ate half the damn thing on my way home. However, I do have to mention that I saw a mouse scurry across the back room while I was there. Granted this was a long time ago so I am assumed they took care of the problem by now. Besides, this is Hoboken and those damn things are everywhere.

Great place for bread! My favorite are the olive bread and the prosciutto with mozzarella bread: great with salad or alone! Very friendly service!

Legit for carb lovers! Stopped by before an evening dinner in Hoboken since I was intrigued by the various comments on their sausage bread. I was in luck that they have a couple left. I ate it today(the day after), after toasting it for about 5 minutes, it was nice and crusty in the outside and soft and moist in the inside. The sausage has a nice kick and adds a nice flavor throughout the bread. For $ 5 you get a bread that’ almost 20″ long. This could be the perfect bread for when we cook our bolognese next time. They are also so nice, it took me a while to decide which bread I should get, sausage vs proschiutto dilemma! Even thought it was almost closing time, they didn’t rush me at all. Price listed includes taxes so you don’t have to leave with pennies etc! Not exactly good for my diet, but heck it’s the holiday season so I am taking a break from my diet.

came here last week for the frst time after reading the reviews. They had a Very small selection of breads, which were as hard as a baseball bat. upon cutting into the rolls, I discovered that they were completely raw on the inside — nothing but sticky, wet dough. Maybe thursday is not a good day for them? very unsatisfied …(sorry)

Excellent old world Italian-American bakery. Best bread in Hoboken. This place is a local gem that I hope never closes or changes. It survived the lame-brain Atkins diet so I think it’s here to stay. The seeded twist is a 10.

A short and sweet review. We have been loving their bread for quite some time. There was a few weeks when the whole wheat round loafs weren’t cooked all the way through in the middle so we switched to the white. Overall so happy to give them my money. I also love that I can buy the mixes and bring them home to bake on my own. I hope they stick around for many more years to come.

Truly great bread. I lvoe their stuffed breads, their foccacias, their garlic bread and their just plain old italian bread. The stuffed breads are to die for — which you may have to do to get one before they run out of them each day! They’re usually gone by 10AM! Crazy, don’t know why they don’t just make more of those. The focaccias are delicious. The sauce tastes fresh, the density is fluffy enough, and the crust is the right mix of crunchy yet soft. Love love love this place!

Go off the beaten path and buy your bread here! Really, really good bread at this unassuming little spot. Got a baguette and half a pound of these little shortbread raspberry and peach filled cookies for under five dollars. The baguette was outstanding and the cookies were good. The prices and selection cannot be beat. The service is also really good. Antique will be my go-to bread shop from here on out. *4.5 stars*

Everything I have had from here has been really good but the wheat baguette takes the cake. Do yourself a favor and pick up bread from here next time you are making Sunday dinner instead of getting it from the grocery store. Congrats Antique, you just baked yourself right on to my Gems of Hoboken list!

Gruff. City. Old school. Bakery? Every time I’ve been here I walked in the front door and someone begrudgingly hoists themselves from a chair in back situated in front of some fuzzy TV broadcasting shenanigans. The person gets behind the counter and looks at me like, «Could you order already so I can get back to my program? Gawd.» OK, but then you order, «French baguette, please.» or «Garlic French baguette, please.» Either one puts you back a woping two smackaroos and it is the freshest yummiest bread ever. Do yourself a favor and make some fresh bruschetta. I’m pretty convinced this place might possibly be owned by the mob or might be a cover, but they make fantastic bread and will continue to benefit from my two dollar holla!
