Woohoo, indeed. I’m a part-time resident, and a full-time Fredgie’s fan. When I’m away, I dream of Fredgies! When I come home, it’s the first place I go. Let’s start with… there’s just something fun about getting your lunch(or dinner, or breakfast, or snack… you get the idea) from a hand-painted wagon. Fortunately, it doesn’t end there. The dogs are scrumptious! They’re delicious and beefy and cooked perfectly. If you like onions, Fredgies has a special method of cooking the onions — they’re almost buttery! Mmmmm. Years ago, the original owner told me his secret method, and I presume they’re still doing it the same because they are still buttery delicious… but I won’t share it here in case it’s become their special secret. The buns are not the everyday, run of the mill, bland buns usually encountered; they are toasted and buttery and hold their own, complementing the dog no matter the toppings you choose. You can design your own dog, or order off the menu. I’ve tried most of them, but my fave is the Fredgies original chili dog! The original chili dog has peanut butter in it… and I swear next time I make chili at home, I’ll be adding peanut butter! I never would have imagined how good it would be. They add the peanut butter separately(I think, so they don’t get sued), but this means if you have a peanut allergy you can skip the lawsuit and just ask for it without. ;-) Sit down at one of their picnic tables and enjoy your dog by the river. It’s a total experience — relaxed, a little kitschy, beautiful and breezy… and most importantly delicious. Note — they have things other than hotdogs… but obviously, I go for the dog so I have not tried the other items! Second note — if you’re a grammar/spelling nazi such as myself, make yourself get past it — they cannot spell to save their lives, but they make a mean hotdog! If I can look past it, you can as well! It’s easy to find since it’s right next to the Snook Nook on Indian River Drive, south of the Jensen Beach bridge. It’s cash only… bring your $ 1’s and $ 5’s and ENJOY!!! ;-)

Theres not much better than sitting by the river and getting a fredgies dog. Definitely a jensen classic, and probably one if the best hot dogs you’ll ever find.

Just had the original Fredgie dog. very unique never thought I would have peanut butter on my chili dog but I did. It was pretty good. It is a fried hot dog on a grilled bread bun. awesome bun. Then topped with peanut butter, spicy mustard, a very good chili dog sauce. It is a must stop by place if you see it.

Nice place to stop for a hot dog! It was an all beef hot dog, and you can get any topping you want(onion, relish, mustard, etc). The bun is also excellent, grilled & buttery. There’s actually a peanut butter chili dog on the menu! I might give it a try next time. This place is a keeper. Nice seating area over looking the river too.
