Sweet Pea Garden Pantry

Was a super pleasant surprise along I75. I have no regrets stopping here. This by far the best vegan burger I had and also the potato soup was delicious. The owner was very pleasant to talk to as well as her friend who was helping her out. Definitely will plan another stop here on the way back up North.

My wife and I have been visiting Joanne at Sweatpea for years… literally. She is becoming like extended family as we always try to stop through when we travel. By far some of the best tasting food in the world… literally again! We stopped through on our return home from an Italian honeymoon and her food is better and fresher than in Italy! :) Her homemade veggie burgers are the best and I love her eggless egg salad. Yum!
I’ve always thought her prices were too low for such great food too.
A must stop when traveling… even if you’re not a vegetarian. It’s just that good.

What a great surprise! We frequently drive Rt 75 from Cincinnati to Florida and healthy vegetarian options not always easy to find right off the highway. The homemade veggie burger on ciabatta was delicious. My husband had the homemade falafel pita — baked not fried. Great fresh ingredients. The vegan potato salad with a variety of potatoes was flavorful and pretty, The owner was so nice. We will be back

My girlfriend and I were passing by on our way home to Ohio from Pigeon Forge and decided to stop after seeing Sweet Pea Garden Pantry on Unilocal.So glad we did! We had the veggie burger, baked falafel pita, green salad, and potato salad and it was all very delicious and fresh. The owner, Joanne, was very sweet. She explained her food and menu for the day and also sat down and chatted with us for a bit. It was an all around great experience! We definitely plan on stopping by in the future any time we are the area!

If your local or passing through like us you must stop. Small batch wholesale vegetarian/​vegan yummies.
The owner is so nice and friendly. We ordered the full falafel pita, so good! She brought us half while it was hot and then brought the other half when it was ready and hot. They are baked not fried so extra healthy.

What a find! If you’re road tripping and looking for a fresh, delicious and seemingly lovingly prepared meal, this is the place for you. Four of us dined here while on our way back from vacationing in North Carolina and although there was hesitation from the non vegetarians in the group, all agreed the food was wonderful. The veggie burger on ciabatta bread was incredible (highly recommend), salad was generous in its variety of veg and accompaniments and the soup du jour hearty and satisfying. Server/​chef (& owner?) was as pleasant as her food was delicious. Will definitely stop by the Sweet Pea next time we’re heading past Jellico. A real refuge from the fast food blight. Trust me, give it a try!

Best place to get lunch on the road for miles around. It doesn’t face the main road, so you have to look for it. I didn’t see it until I had passed and turned around. If you’re coming from the direction of the highway it’s on the left. Keep looking you’ll find it.

Everything was delicious! I got the salad with everything and extra dressing, tons of crunch and flavor. Plus she said everything was local that was in the salad. I also got a cup of the vegetable and bean soup. It was amazing also and really warmed me up on this chilly day. My mother got the veggie burger and she’s a meat eater, yet she loved it! Highly recommend this place to anyone especially if you’re traveling through!

I love everything about Sweet Pea! The owner, Joanne, seriously is a sweet pea & the restaurant feels like you’re hanging out in her oversized kitchen. The food is amazing. Every bite is scrumptious. You can tell she cooks with love! My favorite is the veggie burger but the soup is to die for as well. Between the wonderful food, peaceful ambiance and the Joanne’s beautiful personality, you’ll leave with a happy, full stomach. It felt like I was eating at the home of an old friend. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars!

Fantastic split pea soup. Fresh ingredients wonderful atmosphere. Homemade falafel was outstanding. It’s a must stop location if you are driving by Jellico. Conveniently located close to the interstate.

Surprising vegetarian find in Jellico, TN on the border of Kentucky?, great owner but busy and each order is fresh to order. California Flavor brought to the mountains of Tennessee ;)

Fantastic! I travel extensively for work, and was en route from Knoxville to Cincinnati. This is a rare gem to find (thanks Unilocal) and I plan to return many more times. Owner was delightful to chat with, let me set up camp to do some work for 45 minutes. My falafel sandwich was so fresh and all homemade. The bean sprout addition was a great suggestion. It was paired with a light slaw that had cashews, celery, cabbage, grapes and a great honey dressing. Just a delightful healthy travel stop!

Wow, what a wonderful surprise in small town Kentucky. It’s a delightful one woman band with fresh and inventive vegetarian options. We had the chicken salad and falafel sandwich with some bean soup. The place was full of locals, and the food was scrumptious. My seven month old devoured my soup :) it was all made with love and served with a smile. I know that sounds corny, but I really felt like this owner cares for her customers well being, and that’s why she’s serving up healthy, delicious food to anyone who’s lucky enough to stop through.

I highly recommend a stop on your next road trip (unless of course you’re in Jellico on a regular basis. I did speak to someone who said she eats there every day)!
My husband our two year old and I were looking for a place to stop, eat and let our little guy run around before getting back ‘on the road’ With a little effort and the help of Unilocal a ‘road trip’ meal can be fresh, nutritious and delicious! Not to mention Joann, the owner is very kind. Make sure to allow for the time; each meal is prepared as if you walked into her home kitchen and she carefully crafted you a home cooked meal!

Homely establishment. You can see all the spices and ingredients used all along the back wall. The kitchen is open and airy. Lovely and quaint. Called ahead and they were able to accommodate a good allergy prior to food prep. Great service! If you get lost, call in. She gives clear directions.

Sweet Pea Garden Pantry is a wonderful find for anyone looking for some fresh and delicious food.
We had the falafel sandwich and a pea soup which were both delicious. The owner was one of the most friendly people we’ve ever met, who made us feel very welcome and at home.
We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough for anyone looking for some wholesome fresh food.

You won’t be disappointed! Even my Jellico-​native husband LOVED his veggie cheese burger. We are far from vegetarian but we love good food! I enjoyed a salad chock-​full of veggies and topped with a scoop of «chicken» salad that rivals any of the best southern chicken salads I’ve had. My kids enjoyed homemade soup and a «chicken» salad sandwich with soft, crusty toasted bread and super yummy tomatoes.
This is not the fast food joint across the road. It takes a few minutes for your order to be made but it’s well worth it! Or calling ahead seems like a great option.
Our lunch for 5, including deserts to-​go was around $ 30. Very affordable.
The owner was pleasant to chat with and clearly passionate about offering healthy tasty options in a town with nothing like it. We are so thankful for her and sorry it took us so long to become big fans.

Finally a great review! Surprisingly quaint restaurant right off the interstate! Owner said she is surprised as well. She is from California and wasn’t expecting to start a restaurant. Big pot of lentil soup with fresh kale just added! YUM! Potato salad very unique with a touch of sweet potatoes! Delightful! Jeff so sweetly waited, but the wait was not long! Definitely a 5 star yummy experience. To go, nice serving
