The wine tasting room very nice along with the views of the country side. Especially liked the ability to take our sample trays to high top table sit and compare the taste of our selected wines at our own pace. The cranberry and blueberry wines would be our pick out of the twelve wines we tasted. However being merlot, pino noir, or Bordeaux drinkers normally their selection of only fruit wines did not satisfy our taste pallets. It’s always nice to try some place different.

Absolutely loved this place! We took a tour(very short) and learned a lot about the process of wine making and the history of the area. Then a wine tasting with pretzels and crock of cheese. The tasting room is very nice, well-lit, comfortable stools at tables, lots of cool gift items and wine related goodies plus wine, cheese, pretzels and chocolate to buy. Our wine tasting included a flight of 6 wines ranging from red to white, dry to somewhat sweet. Plus you could purchase additional tastings and(my favorite) wine slushies. We met the winery owners(father, mother and daughter) who all were at work there and all were extremely pleasant and friendly. Definitely worth a stop! We ended up purchasing 6 bottles of wine plus a few slushie packages and some gift items. The wine was very good and reasonably priced, $ 11-$ 14 per bottle. They also host numerous events, which we are looking forward to in the warmer months. Will definitely be back!

Well worth the trip! It is a bit difficult to find, but if you do, you are well rewarded. There is a big room that has a few tables to sit and many gifts to consider for purchase. The wines are for sale on another end, opposite from the tasting counter. When we attended, they offered 4 free samples and 1 slush(with a donation to the Special Olympics). The staff are so very friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed ourselves. We absolutely loved the Sassy Strawberry Wine — it tastes like chocolate covered strawberries! I went outside my normally frugal limits, and purchased one to take home it was so good!

This family owned and operated winery is definitely a favorite! The place is adorable, right down to landscaping outside. They really put some effort into making this winery feel welcoming. It’s like walking into your grandma’s house. You’re greeted and served by one of the family members. They’ll offer you 4 free samples of wine, plus 1 sample of their wine slush. They offer the tasting for free, but they have a donation jar for Special Olympics. They asked that if you enjoy your time there, please leave a donation to Special Olympics. What a great way to give back! They offer about a dozen wines, so there’s plenty to choose from. I bought a bottle of their Wap-a-tuee, which is a red blend, and I bought their Reisling, a semi-sweet white wine. Can’t wait to uncork and enjoy!

The winery is behind some other buildings so I suggest calling them when you’re close to make sure you’re heading to the right spot. Also do NOT follow the directions from Unilocal(the address is right but the directions are not). Unilocal directions take you to the middle of a residential area about 2 miles from where you need to be. Once you get there, the property is nice and they have a decent selection of wines. They do offer tours but you need to make an appointment for a tour although you do not need an appointment for tastings. What I liked and thought was about different this winery is that they have their own wine slushy mix(much better than those in grocery stores). One negative is when we bought our bottle of wine there was a difference in price on the sign and what came up on the register. The lady(elder woman who I believe was the grandma) refused to honor the price on the sign and charged us the higher price(what showed up on the register) and claimed the sign was old and she didn’t know how it got there.

My husband and I bought a livingsocial deal and went on a wine tasting with another couple. I enjoyed the lady who gave us the tasting and even though I am not a wine person my hubby is, but I love the wine and cheese :) The shop is very clean and nice(a bit small) but the free samples of wine slushies were good(and I actually don’t like any wine I’ve ever tried). They have a quiet location with patio seats. We went back today to pick up a few bottles(strawberry and wap-a-tue) and some slush mix! Our son had fun with the free pinball game while we looked around and checked out. We would go more often but had to drive 40 min away unfortunately.

My boyfriend and I went here on Saturday of Valentines day for a wine/cheese/chocolate tasting event. I understand it was probably a busy weekend for them but it started out a little unorganized– not knowing where she started pouring, who was pouring the wine(her or her helpers), the information about the winery and the wines seems thrown together. The sampling sizes of cheese were no bigger then your thumbnail and the host(the owner’s daughter) was less then charming. Aside from her unpleasant demeanor, she did not make us feel welcome– only proceeded to tell us that she couldn’t wait for the weekend to be over with, which didn’t sit well with me since we were there to enjoy ourselves. I didn’t feel as though they wanted us to be there– even the tasting bar where a brother in law and friend work didn’t great us with smiles or appreciate us being there, again felt like we were a pain. I support small business especially family run establishments but I won’t be back and I won’t recommend it to anyone.

I stopped in to the winery while I was passing through town. thought I’d try it out. i had my doubts about what a midwestern winery could produce, simply because the environment isn’t right for most grapes. well, my doubts were definitely confirmed. the locally grown grapes were simply bad — overly sweet, not complex, no acid, no tannins. furthermore, the wines made from imported juice were not quite there. They may have been a really good attempt — something that will get better with time. but they’re not quite there yet. however, the thing that got to me the most was the hostess, who I have some constructive advice for: 1) Know the origin of your grapes, not just where they were planted(your back yard doesn’t mean anything to me), but where they came from historically. This is actually really, freaking important in understanding what the wine should taste like, and what the local environment imparts to the grape. 2) be able to say something intelligent about how the local environment affects the grapes, in terms of tannins, acidity, sugar, etc. Explain how this is different from european environments. this is a winery, after all, we’re here to appreciate wine. i can get drunk anywhere. i want to come here to drink a good wine, and understand where it comes from and how it’s made. if you don’t know, i’d rather just taste wine at some liquor stores in town. 3) don’t look at me like I’m the crazy one for asking these questions, then reply, «i just know how to drink them». If this is all you care about, then you shouldn’t be serving me in a wine tasting room. the point is to be able to taste the wine, and appreciate it, not get drunk on sugary sweet swill. 4) last, and perhaps most importantly,(because it’s the easiest and most obvious), know how to be an entertaining hostess, i.e., know how to make small talk, know how to laugh at someone’s jokes, know how to put your audience at ease. Essentially, make the experience enjoyable, not awkward. My time spent there was awkward. This is just unforgivable. my advice — in terms of taste, stick to fruit wines, until you figure out how to do a good grape wine. people will buy your fruit wine no problem. but if you make a reputation for yourself as a seller of crappy local grape wine, it’s going to be hard to live down. if your wine tastes no better than wine I could make myself from a kit at a brew shop, it’s not worth selling.

My fiancé and I stopped by here a couple of Sunday mornings ago for a tasting. We arrived just before noon and had the place to ourselves. The winery/tasting area is much like you see at any winery as it is situated in a huge open room with a tasting bar on one side and then all of their wines and some other things for sale taking up the rest of the space. What did catch my eye here were some vintage pinball machines near the back which were free to play. Awesome. Anyways, we were greeted whenever we walked in by a lady whom I assume to be the owner. Tastings here are free but they have a little box where you can make some donations to the Special Olympics(I think?) which I think is great. The lady behind the counter was nice to us and gave us a rundown of what was happening in the area that weekend. We also asked her where the grapes were grown to which she answered behind her house which was not on the property that we were at. Fair enough. I tried four different whites and eventually ended up taking a bottle of the Riesling home. The bottom line for me is that I might stop here again in the future. If you are looking for a winery and driving by on 94, its worth a stop but I do not know that I would go too far out of my way to stop by here again.
