River City Mercantile

This is the absolute very best antique store in Jefferson, bar none.
Mother and I have been shopping here for over 15 years. We have always loved to go by and visit with the proprietor. Unfortunately, events over the past year have kept us from going by for about 18 months. When we returned today, we found that the lovely man who owed the store had passed away last April 1^st. Given his personality, this seems like a fitting day for him to have departed. We will miss his small talk and his knowledge, but fortunately for us, he left the store open after his demise and it is being run just like he would have liked.
This store has the most wonderful selection of antique furniture and silver along with incredibly beautiful 19^th century and earlier personal items. I am a particular fan of the solid silver flatware and the silver plate serving trays. The best thing about this shop is the unexpected items you may find, such as the silver tea sipper spoons or the beautiful 19^th century copper cooking pots. There is even a room containing African antique sculptures.
If you are in Jefferson and want to see some high quality antiques, River City Mercantile is your place. Honestly, I think it’s the best antique store I have ever had the luck to find.
