Do not miss this wonderful family experience!
Our family ran across the Gem Valley Gem Mine as we were heading to our vacation cabin rental. Curious, we went online to find out more before checking it out in person. We had no idea that North Carolina was the source of so many gems and decided to visit yesterday.
The owner, Debbie met us in the gem shop to welcome us and explain the process. We then drove down to the water flume where Mr. Harold patiently showed us how to pan for gemstones. He also educated us about the gems, the area and it’s history in the most interesting and entertaining way.
Our daughter, 17, was not bored and never rolled her eyes in three hours. That’s a record! My wife got into it, especially after we started finding emeralds, opals, garnets and other beautiful stones.
We will definitely be making another trip to wonderful Gem Valley?
