There aren’t many options in the Jefferson area but I’d say this is a pretty good one. Sometimes the service can be a little slow but when there’s a sudden rush and only one waitress, I understand! We’ve been 3 or 4 times now in the last 2 ½ months and each time the food has been very good! The last time we went(last night) we got margaritas and they were perfect! I’m so glad this place is in the area!

Why am I writing a review on this place while sitting at Thriftway eating lunch? Because when I ride my motorcycle to a restaurant on a hot day, I expect to get some ice water at least within the first 5 to 10 minutes. I hope to get my order taken within 15 or 20 minutes. Is that asking too much? The customers three tables away from me got four visits by the waitress while I sat nearby thirsty and hungry. I came here for the first time a month ago, and immediately noticed the high prices. On that visit when I was actually able to order and receive food, I remember the food tasting somewhat bland. Today I got no opportunity to order food, no ice water, and left with an empty stomach. That is why Thriftway got my business today.

Based on a recommendation from family members, we gave this place a try. We live in Albany and the thought of driving 15 minutes to Jefferson just to go eat mexican food sounds weird but after eating here, we are hooked. That was a few years ago and now we only go to Jefferson for mexican at Azteca Real. The owners are very friendly and Shoji(hopefully I spelled that close) makes a lot of the dishes from scratch daily. The Chile Verde is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. The prices are the same as any place in Albany but the freshness of the dishes and the friendly owners and staff are worth the drive. The coleslaw with the beans and chips is a nice touch. By the way, if you have a large group, say for a birthday, expect to be pampered. Would have got 5 stars but the atmosphere and menu are fairly cookie cutter but I suppose that’s to be expected as they have to appeal to a large group to be able to survive in Jefferson. I would recommend that they expand their already large authentic mexican dishes and cut back on the«american» mexican dishes.

Go here off and on. The service varies from great to really slow. Love the beans and cole slaw. Nachos are great. Shrimp fajitas are ok. Shrimp kind of dry.

Really, just another«Mexican joint» for the most part., food is uninspired but quite passable. Also, overpriced. Typically, food is plated and heated to serving temperature in a salamander. The food, swimming in red or green sauce with melted cheese is presented with the usual«Be careful the plate is hot» warning from the server. The place is clean and the help very friendly. The beer is cold. I think generally Oregonians don’t get good Mexican food as easily as in the more highly populated parts of California. I really feel that most of the Mexican food I’ve ever bought in the state of Oregon has been less than satisfying. I think that operators of Mexican restaurants get away with murder when it comes to quality and creativity in what they offer their customers. There is so much more to Mexican food than enchiladas, burritos and tamales!
