Abby’s Bagels

Food is great, but the help is terrible. I sat there for a total of ten minutes after my order was placed, watched 6 people walk out that were not even acknowledged. I brought this to the one of the two employees attention as he rang me up, he said «sorry. It’s only the two of us» with no motivation. This is sad, I enjoy the food from this place, but the help needs a reboot, it’s hardly organized, I think the owner needs some assistance!
Update* my order was wrong. An easy job for kids, apparently is no longer easy for today’s youth.

Good bagels nice place fair price but too much competition in the area so not sure how long they will last

I love bagels. I eat them 5 days a week. I’ve tried many shops so I have much I can compare to. This is my place for a coffee and a sesame with butter. I work 3 — 11:30 pm in Bergen County and I stop here on my way to work. I love the bagels and the service is pleasant and its fast. The place is very clean. You can see into the working area and most of the time I walk in, there’s someone back there cleaning something. Besides the sesame I tried a Reuben. I’ve never had a Reuben on a bagel before. I had this one on a plain and thought it to be very tasty. They have wraps, paninis and pitas also. There’s an extensive menu above the counter with Chicken, Fish, meats, and variety of salads… If your in the area, why not stop in and check Abbey’s out for breakfast or lunch? To each his/​her own and to me, I wisely choose to eat my brunch on the go from here. They also have several tables and chairs for eating in if you choose to do so and a TV to watch while you eat. Hey, if your with someone, pay attention to them, not the television. ;)

This place makes a pretty decent bagel, at least 5 times better than the place up the street.
When they first opened the bagels were a bit hard/​over cooked. But they’ve tweaked their recipe and are getting to be very good.
The only complaint I’d have is that the non-​bagel breads used for sandwiches are sometimes stale. I’m sure as they do more business and cycle inventory this won’t be the case. The amount of meat on their sandwiches is crazy! You won’t leave hungry especially if you order a sloppy joe, which easily weighed more than a pound.

So I have been to this new bagel place three times since they have opened. I have to say they definitely have beaten the other mainstay bagel place on 15 in my opinion. They are a true bagel place, where I would say the competition is a bakery that does bagels. The breakfast sandwich the true test of a NJ bagel place in my opinion was large, with quite a lot of Taylor Ham. The lunch I had, a Panini chicken special with pesto, and sundried tomatoes was great. Finally this morning I had an Everything Bagel toasted with the Nova Cream Cheese. I love lox and bagels, though this was better, as it was easier to eat, tasted fresh and was excellent. I will definitely be back. I hope this new establishment can make it, as competition always is good for the customer. Only negative I have so far, is the staff needs to be a bit friendlier. I know you are just learning, and there will always be growing pains; though something your employees should be aware of, is that a smile goes a long way.
