Inner Sanctum Cellars is a fun little urban winery in Jamestown, just steps away from the big Railtown 1897 State Park. The tasting room is located on Main Street along the historic downtown area and is appointed with lots of modern and attractive features. The room is long and narrow with a small bar perfect for a lingering visit. This winery focuses on both local and California grapes, focused mainly on the Iberian grapes — Spanish & Portuguese — that appear to grow well in the region. I am not a big fan of these grapes, but I appreciate the effort in attempting to bring them to the masses. I enjoyed the Verdejo and Cinsaut varietals and was further tempted to buy an additional Cab at half price! The place can get packed on a holiday weekend like most wineries, but the staff works hard to make sure your glass is full. If you are open to some different styles and grapes, Inner Sanctum may just be a good fit.

Based on several reviews, we stopped at Inner Sanctum after a visit in Sonora. It is a terrific tasting room and the young lady who served us was extremely friendly and informative. The $ 5 tasting fee is waived with a purchase. We enjoyed all the wines we tasted — especially the First Kiss(Cinsaut) and Leatherhead Red(blend). We understand the Tempranillo is great, but they were already sold out. The wine list does not include notes as different customers pick up different aromas and tastes. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and very happy we stopped here. We will definitely return if we are in the area.

We stopped into this place on our way home from a weekend in Pinecrest and were pleasantly surprised. It’s pretty far down the street, but it was one of the best stops on our trip. The trasting was $ 5, but they will wave the fee of you buy a bottle of wine. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We liked that they let us taste the wines to determine the flavors rather than telling us what we would taste. Our favorite was the 2013 Temperallio which had a skint flavor from the grapes having sat in the smoke from the Rim Fire.

I went into Inner Sanctum with no expectations, and left pleasantly surprised with a couple of their reds, including the Tempranillo, which was overall favorite of my group. Tastings are $ 5, with the fee waived if you purchase a bottle and third bottle free if you buy two. Friendly staff and pleasant tasting room.
