Having never been to St. John Church before I will admit to not knowing anything about the parish or the building but I’m going to make a few general guesses. I assume that this parish and Saints Peter & Paul were at one time independent entities before being consolidated at some point into Holy Apostles Parish probably within the last 10 – 15 years. The building itself is not much of a looker either inside or outside as it looks like your standard cookie cutter Catholic Church that was built maybe around 40 – 60 years ago. But all of the above is kind of irrelevant as you should be coming here for reasons other than trying to do a write up for Architectural Digest magazine. The mass itself was very noteworthy due to the excellent homily about the beginning of Advent and the upcoming Year of Mercy by Father Mende. He is an excellent orator and from me wins points for both substance and for style. If you go: St. John has a decent sized parking lot and there is ample on street parking near by which is what we did and it worked out well. Currently mass is celebrated here at 9am on Tuesday & Thursday, 4pm on Saturday and at 9am on Sunday with other times available at sister parish Saints Peter & Paul.
