A peaceful place The Cedar Lane Cemetery was established in 1861 and was originally only one acre. But as people on the island insisted on dying, the non sectarian cemetery kept expanding until it’s now almost ten acres It use to have a cool entrance on the west side but since the new highway was built the only way to really get into the graveyard is now from the south and Cedar Lane. The cemetery is very quiet and unassuming. Most of the memorials are small and modest, no huge obelisks or gigantic and ostentatious gravesites. Just very quiet reminders of who was here in days past.
