This restaurant has okay food, I definitely enjoy the oxtail out of everything they offer. I also had their jerk chicken, fried chicken and curry chicken which were all okay and nothing spectacular. Their prices however are reasonable compared to other Jamaican restaurants I’ve been to. The service is annoying because there’s always a wait even if you call in your order so except to wait long in very unorganized manner. And they’re always running out of their menu options which is a disappointment.

They were too heavy on the ketchup for the brown stew chicken taste more like BBQ chicken then brown stew. Also they were way to heavy on the coconut milk in the rice and peas. I wouldn’t recommend it to others. Gratefully my coworkers liked their meals. I wouldn’t go back.

Let me start off by saying the food here is really good and the prices are good as well, I’ve never dined in the restaurant so I can’t comment on that but I’ve gotten takeout many times, I live very close to this place and the reason why I’m only giving 3 stars is because of rude, slows and bad service, another thing is they often run out of certain things on the menu, I suggest calling ahead and come in 15 – 20 min later, but even then you will wait because when you call they give you a number, but the numbers are not in any particular order so you just have to hope she will call your number while you are there otherwise it will sit on the shelf until you can manage to get her to acknowledge you, the customers here literally walk in and shout random numbers so forget that you were already waiting there, if I didn’t live so close I probably wouldn’t go back but since I do I order once in a while, again the food is awesome but the whole order and pick up process is horrible

As with all great restaurants, the wait is long but the food is great. I would suggest calling ahead of time to cut it shorter. The customers standing around at the counter adds to the confusion a bit as the cashier doesn’t acknowledge your presence until you yell your order number from the back of the crowd. Great food but needs to be more organized.

My boyfriend took me here awhile ago; Great food. Convenient location. It gets crowded relatively fast so I highly recommend to call in the order for pickups if you’re not going to dine in.

Definitely a fan. Oxtail and BBQ chicken dinners are always on point. If you eat here once, you will likely become a lifetime patron. Lost a star for décor and service. Service is sloooow but soooo worth the wait. Staff is not friendly but not in a rude way.

Excellent for authentic Jamaican cuisine. The wait is sometimes long so it’s definitely best to call in your order ahead of time.

3 stars is for the lack of good customer service, they need to change how they deal with their patrons. As for the food everything I tried here has been up to par so far. I get to come here when I’m visiting NY so hopefully the place stays the same or improves for the better. I’ve seen many places like this come and go especially in this part of Queens. My advice is keep the chef happy and properly train the staff on welcoming and serving there customers.

The food is great. Just the wait is crazy, best to call ahead to order. One thing they should consider is taking credit/debit cards instead of just cash only. This will help grow their business even more.

Good food is not fast and fast food is not good. Smoke House is a blessing to the community for dine-in, Take Out or catering. Searching for legit home cooked goodness? Have a distinct palette for flavor? You’ve come to the right place. Saint Albans is known for Mom and Pop shops, that easily open and close shop within the blink of any eye. Linden Blvd is home to many local west indian restaurants, catering halls and other small businesses. Smoke House is here to stay. Smokin Flavor! Smokehouse catered some items such as their BBQ wings for my Baby Shower. These wings are juicy and savory and smoked! Their plates are delicious. The potato salad is heavenly and so is the Mac! Everyone raved about the wings! I believe they’re owner is west indian and I love the combination of Southern Food meeting West Indian flavor. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by for some Take Out. Do not expect a seat because many will be waiting for pick up lunch and dinner orders. Decent Jamaican food, I like the variety, and the food is usually tasty. On the otherhand, service is horrible! About 15 people behind the counter and they all seem to be clueless. You would think that with their somewhat over the top ordering process you’d be in and out in a jiffy, no such luck. Even when you call in advance you still have to wait. Even worse, the staff is quite rude when they mess up, but this is typical for Jamaican women. Brace yourself for a long wait. Irie…

I ve been going to Smokehouse since they were on 197 and linden, I’m happy they moved to the current larger location as it can accommodate the large amount of customers that frequent this spot. The line is almosy always out the door and the wait it usually 15 – 20 minutes so I always always call ahead. They will give you a number and when you go in check at the register on your left to see if your number was called. The staff here does what they have to, don’t expect a greeting or smile but believe me Ive seen worse. Stew chicken, collard greens(made with turkey wings), plantain and festival is what I regularly get from here and it’s so good. Stew chicken is flavorful, collard greens are seasoned just right, plantain are usually huge and their festival are soft and slightly sweet. The mac n cheese is delicious and baked to perfection, rice and peas are actually made with coconut milk which gives the rice a nice flavor.

First… I called to place an order. The amount of time I was on hold was how long it took me to drive there. Fine so I hang up and walk in to place my order. When asking a question to the young lady in the pickup line I was kinda put off by her lack of attention. I was polite in asking if my number was called and after a few«excuse me’s» She finally acknowledged me even after standing right in front of her. I always go for the jerk chicken which to me is always good but the customer service can be a bit better. I have been going since they changed locations and I think they should be a bit more welcoming. I will definitely go back but dread what’s waiting on the service front.

It’s primarily a takeout business, there is limited seating but it’s not welcoming enough to stay and enjoy a meal. The service and ordering is a bit confusing and disastrous, there are TV screens one of which was off, the other had the name of the business and the third has some menu items, I had to ask the cashier for a menu so I could see all the options. Shouldn’t those be out there on the counter for ease of access to the customer? SMH. typical Jamaican/Caribbean attitude and layout. It takes quite a while to get your order, but it’s definitely worth the 20minute wait. The jerk chicken is delicious and moist, packed with flavor. The side dishes are a bit on the smaller end of things, but 2 can still share a meal. Call ahead and place your order for pickup if you can, it saves time!

I used to walk a few blocks whenever I wanted some fried chicken or curry chicken. For new folks this is a new Unilocal page for an old store that moved a few blocks west to this new location. Only a few issues. Always check your order before leaving the counter! They make mistakes and sometimes forget an item you paid for. Also when you order a main dish it’s supposed to include cornbread. Your chance of getting cornbread is like that of flipping a coin. They either have it or they don’t. They never fully prepare enough cornbread for every customer for the day. Sometimes they are busy inside with people waiting for takeout. Now the good. I’ve never been disappointed with the food. Mac n cheese to oxtail. Cabbage, collard greens, curry chicken macaroni salad. The only thing I would pass on is BBQ chicken. BBQ wings might be better but the ¼ BBQ I’ve had too dry. Overall all their food is truly amazing and low priced. I’ve been there a ton of times.

Crazy disorganized ordering system but you can call ahead and skip some of the madness. Stick to the meats which are very good but the sides are clearly an afterthought. Jerk chicken is awesome and you can get pretty good prices on meat only deals.

Had to amend based on recent visits. NOT as flavorful, sloppy & too many mistakes with orders. Dont know why theyve fallen from grace. They have new digs & an attentive staff but the food is what I mainly come for. In the past, I’ve eaten at The Smokehouse often. CONSISTENTLY Succulent & moist chicken, «well seasoned» meat dishes(oxtails, jerk) & «FLAVORFUL» rice & peas &FRESH salads! Often there’s a wait but when they’re the ONLYONE’S «BRINGINGIT» this side of Queens, what do u expect! LUVTHEM& their Original Jamaican restaurant The Door on Baisley Blvd, xGuy Brewer

With the limited number of restaurants in the area, this is a very popular take out spot. I’ve tried the oxtails and the jerk pork. I really liked the oxtails; they’re a lil fatty, but I think that’s a good thing. Jerk pork was a bit dry, so not a favorite. Others tried their ribs, jerk chicken & fish, and they all agreed it was quite tasty. The jerk sauce is amazing, it’s good on anything! The spicy sauce is great as well, but a bit too much if you can’t handle spicy food. We enjoyed the edges of the macaroni and cheese, but texture wise, the macaroni was overcooked, very greasy, and a bit too salty. I’ll definitely come back to check out the rest of the menu.
