The Jewel Of Jamaica– Rochdale Village is near and dear to my heart. My grandmother has lived here since the 70s and it has always been a welcoming comfortable place for me. This co op community is basically a self contained City with its own power plant, mall, grocery stores, restaurants, parks, gardens, bank and many other amenities. In addition to rochdale being a self sustaining community, it offers many efficient transportation options to give you quick access to Manhattan, Long Island and the other outer boroughs. Here are Some of the transportation options I frequently use. — Locust Manor LIRR station: located right across Bedell St the LIRR is a comfortable quick way to get to Manhattans Penn Station. –QM21 Bus: Express(weekday only) bus to midtown. With two stops in manhattan it’s a great way to link to subway lines in manhattan and at $ 6 it’s a little cheaper than LIRR especially during peak hours. –Q85 bus: runs VERY frequently back and fourth from Jamaica ave to Rochdale. And is a great link to the E train into manhattan. Rochdale village truly offers the best of both worlds. More affordable housing but quick and convenient access to the city and beyond. It is a great place to live for the family and the working class alike.
