I went there with a friend late on a Monday night because nothing else was open at 10:30 pm.(We probably shouldn’t have been eating that late to begin with) we went in and there was a lot of food left, it looked like it had been sitting most of the day though. My friend ordered chicken tikka masala over rice and I had a side of lentils, a samosa, chicken kofta kabobs and we both ordered Naan. I had the garlic and she had the plain. By far the naan was the best thing they made because it was fresh. Sadly the food was cold so they had to heat it up in the microwave for us. There was flies flying around and food was left open on top of the counter for people to breathe on. The person who took our order even took the money over the open food, and without gloves. I was overcharged based on the prices of each item I ordered. We went home to eat and the food was mediocre at best. The lentils were hard, samosa had little flavor and the kofta was dry almost burnt with overpowering of the ginger they put in it. Later that evening my stomach erupted and sent me to the bathroom. I thought I was fine but the next day, the same thing. Will never be going back there again. Sorry bbq village. Your first impression wasn’t a good one.

So the reviews on this place is mixed. The food is ok but the breads are outstanding!!! The naan and kulchas are top notch.

Overall terrible customer service and it looks as though the kebabs had been sitting out for a while. This isn’t a fine-dining restaurant, I get that. it’s more so a take-out spot. So here it goes: I walk into the store and the server was busy tending to orders, while she and the manager were having a conversation in either Hindi or Urdu. This goes on for 5 – 6 minutes. The manager then had turned to my direction as though he’s about to ask me what what I wanted; however he bypassed me to speak in his native language to a patron who had just walked in. The patron gesticulated his fingers to show how many of something he wanted, it seems, because the manager went into the kitchen to place the order. Upon his return to the front, he resumed his conversation with the server and did not once bother to ask me if I was being helped. It’s now been 10 minutes since I’ve walked into the store without being addressed. By this time another patron had walked in. The manager again doesn’t ask me anything and speaks to her in their native language and he goes into the kitchen-probably to put in her order like the previous patron. 30-seconds later the server who was busy has now faced me, and she asks me what I want. I am just a few words into placing my order until she turned her face from me and continues her conversation. I decide to leave after that. After 15 minutes of waiting while other orders from people who had walked in after me go through, I leave. I understand that both servers were busy and are non-native speakers; however, courtesy and respect are universal. What a shame.

This is a family owned establishment and has that feel, the staff is very nice and cater to each person with care. I’ve tried their kababs and biryani and to be honest, you can find 10x better tasting food 10 blocks down on 169th st and hillside so it’s not anything special in my opinion BUT their chicken kabob is literally one of the BEST in the area. Hands down very flavorful and beats any other in the area. If you like you can get it with the naan, salad and yogurt sauce. My family always picks up the kabob for any party we throw…

Food is not fresh at all, tried take away several times out of which 2 times I had to throw it and the owner was very rude when I complained about food. The place is really messy, I will never recommend it. Not going there again

Use love this place and I don’t know if they have new owners, new cooks or what but the food sucks now. Too much salt and sometimes the big chicken legs are not cooked thoroughly.

Ordered lunch from them. Stale food and flavor less. Right off the food did not smell quite right but Indian food tends to have strong smells so we ate it. My colleague threw up that very evening and I felt queasy and nauseous. Never ordering food from there again. Be cautious.

I had chicken tikka what a surprise lol. Anyway It was thigh meat not white like I prefer and I don’t like that it was heated up in a Styrofoam container also it did not taste super fresh they have all the dishes in a deli type refrigerator so you can pick but my food had a slight refrigerator taste yuck I don’t think I’ll come back as I love the food at Taj Mahal and it’s close by just wanted to try this place !

Right in front of the q76, so I popped in while waiting. Great, inexpensive indian food made quickly. Lunch special is a great deal. Love the woman behind the counter, friendly and helpful. The view isn’t great, so bring a friend to look at.

Not bad at all! Ignore the name. This is an Indian restaurant, now. I had the chicken tikka masala, basmati rice, a potato and eggplant dish mixed with chick peas(they will mix the vegetable dishes, if you want), and naan. All of it was really decent! I ate more than I should have and I still have leftovers for tomorrow! I highly recommend! By the way, they were super nice to me.

This place has one rude owner/counter help. The guy barely acknowledged me when I ordered. I judge this type of place by their samosas. Its breading was soft and the filling was unspicy and unflavorful. the only reason I would come in here again is to wait out cold weather before catching an N22 bus.

I was walking down Hillside Avenue to catch a bus when I noticed this bright, orange awning that caught my eye. It was said to have halal food so I walked in. I was hungry and was in the mood for some chicken, lamb, and rice. To be totally honest, I expected nothing more than street-cart quality food. I ordered chicken, lamb, and rice at the counter. Apparently, it came with a side salad. Most halal places serve lettuce with white sauce on top for their salad, so I wasn’t really expecting to eat it. I spotted the samosas to my left and asked for one of them as well. I took a seat and waited patiently for my order. About two minutes later, my samosa was heated and ready. Wow. It was very good. They served it with a side of sweet sauce(the name of this sauce slips my mind) which was also very good. Honestly, it was one of the better samosas I have had in Queens outside of Jackson Heights. This made me pretty excited for my actual meal. Maybe I had stumbled upon a hidden treasure? Six or seven minutes after getting my samosa, my entrée is ready. I was ready to get up to get my food, but a man came out to serve it to me at my table. Nice touch. The food was served with a plastic cup alongside and the man brought me a pitcher of ice-cold water. Sweet. The first thing I noticed on my plate was that the salad was not JUST lettuce. Lettuce, tomato, onion with herbs and spices thrown on top. It was a REAL salad. I dove right into the salad and WOW. It was delicious. It was very simple, but unbelievably good. I was pretty delighted. The rice was very good. It was of great texture and had a hint of sweetness. The chicken & lamb were both juicy, well-marinated, and full of great taste. Unlike street-carts where they throw white sauce on top to cover up the bland taste, this tasted amazing. There was no white sauce thrown on top and, to be honest, it would have just covered up the sheer quality cooking by the chef. It was some of the best halal food I’ve gotten in quite some time and beats the hell out of any halal street-cart(not that they should be the standard, but most«foodies» use this as some kind of benchmark). All finished with my food and here comes the worst part of any meal, the check. I walk up to the cashier. «$ 11.50,» he says. For the quality of the food, it was worth it. He then says, «Is that your Coke?» pointing to another lady’s soda. I shake my head and he says, «Oh, sorry. Ten dollars.» YES! This place is delicious AND cheap? I will certainly be coming back very soon.
