My girlfriend and I ate there last night and got sick. I’m still giving two stars because, in Ghazal’s defense, we have eaten there many times before with no issues, but this time the food almost certainly made us ill.

Although the quality of their food is good, the wait isn’t worth it. A friend and I were two of only a handful of people in the restaurant, but parties who arrived later than we did we’re served their food first. We ended up waiting over an hour for our food, and even though the servers knew we were unhappy, they didn’t really apologize or make us want to return.

Update following the below review. I wanted to update this review about my delivery never showing up and not being called. It did never show up but they called the next day multiple times until they reached me to apologize and offer a refund and to bring a fresh order by the next day. That counts, and convinces me that this was more of a freak occurrence and not normal at all. «This was a first. I ordered delivery and they NEVERSHOWEDUP! I called after 50 minutes to check in since they told me to expect 30 minutes and I hear a voice in the background say „just tell him it’s on it’s way“. I check in at the 1.5 hour mark asking if I can just walk over and pick the food up and I’m told again that it’s on its way. I live only 4BLOCKSAWAY. Eventually they close for the night and I’m never given a call or anything. Very sorry excuse for a business. Terrible.»

I don’t usually take the time to write reviews but people need to know how this guys operate: I have placed an online order through Grubhub for a total of USD45. I’ve ordered two samosas and they brought only one set. I’ve called them right away and told they guy over the phone they missed something on the order. He said that he ‘will try’ to send it once the driver was back. The missing samosas never came, I had friends at home so I did not call them again that night. My wife called them the next day and explained the situation again to which the person on the phone replied he could not send them. She said she would make an order so it would make sense for them to come(it’s less than a mile away) and he said the minimum order was 99 dollars for delivery! Bottom-line they lost a client as we do not support businesses in the community. with no integrity at all. I will also file a complaint against Ghazal Indian Cuisine. Customer service is the worse I ever seen and they are totally disrespectful. Food was okay(the portion that did arrive) but they have no integrity so you better avoid this place.

Very excellent chana masala. I ordered it «Indian spicy» and it was freaking HOOOT. The waiter offered to take it back if I couldn’t handle it. I handled… but I’ll just get it spicy next time. The service their was quite good, and the waiter that served me the two times I’ve been there was exceptionally personable and attentive. I wish I remembered his name. I actually introduced myself to him and complimented him on the whole restaurant and his service(which I’ve never done before). I’ll definitely be going back.

Got take away from here and it arrived way faster than it was supposed to. The Aloo Samosa is listed as spicy but they weren’t. Delicious anyway. We shared the Aloo Paratha which was bland and the Garlic Naan which was great and covered in herbs. I tried the Shari Paneer Korma and it was maybe the best Indian food I’ve ever had outside of India. I’ve started getting it everywhere I go but here it was the best.

Came in with my wife tonight because we know the food is good, but my gosh is the service slow. If you’re not in a hurry or staving, I recommend this place.

Had a group-on, ended up being a good investment.(4.5 stars) I got the mixed grill which was a variety of tandorri meats with tika sauce. You could specify the spiciness. Masala sauce was flavorful and naan was good. As far as the grilled meats the tandoori chicken was extremely good. They also have an assortment of sauces on the table with crackers in the beginning. I was impressed and prices are fair. Service was friendly, towards the end of our meal the place was pretty crowded.

Solid indian food and with a Unilocal deal a good bargain(as Indian resturants go) as well. Nothing extraordinary but your usual Punjabi food.

Buffet is better than it looks! Presentation is not their strength but I’m willing to forgive them. First, they cook their chicken very well here resulting in very tasty tandoori pieces and their decent chicken tikka Masala. Furthermore, I love their buffet includes salad materials(lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumber) which i can use instead of rice. Their beef korma and other Masala dishes were also quite tasty. Their saag paneer was not great but solid.

I just went to Ghazal for the first time this evening and really enjoyed it. It has a very nice, intimate atmosphere, and the service was very prompt and friendly. I really liked the food, too! This is surprising because I am not a huge fan if Indian food. They gave USA nice, complementary plate of this very thin, crispy bread with three different spreads to put on it. My friend had a tandoor dish that came out sizzling hot, and I had the chicken Vindaloo, which was great. Prices were reasonable as well. I would definitely come back again.

I don’t find myself writing many Unilocal reviews, but I felt the need to help boost Ghazel’s rating. My boyfriend and I bough a LivingSocial coupon for Ghazel last week and decided to venture there on a Tuesday night for dinner. I’d been to other local Indian Restaurant very nearby, but wasn’t overwhelmingly pleased by them. To make a long review short and to the point: Ghazel was fantastic. My boyfriend isn’t a huge Indian Cuisine fan, but he was hooked as well. I ordered my standard chicken tikka masala and garlic naan, and he ordered chicken saag; They were both delicious. Our waiter might have been the best part though. He was super friendly and personable and when we asked about the pronunciation of his name(Shaurya), he told us great anecdotes and funny stories about it(apparently his friends used to call him«double confirmation» because it’s pronounced«Sure-yeah»). Anyway, overall great experienced. I hope you give it a shot!

I believe in second chances, so when a staff person contacted me and said that she was also Vegan and that they were upset about my last experience, I decided to go back. I didn’t vomit, but that’s the only improvement. I went just after the lunch buffet on Sunday.(I’d meant to be earlier but then I was glad I wasn’t because buffets at non-Vegan places aren’t good.) I was one of three people in the restaurant and the other two were wrapping up their meal. I asked if they were still doing lunch and I was told that was fine. The waiter brought me a menu and I asked what items were Vegan. He didn’t know what I was talking about. I defined it, asked about one meal on the vegetarian menu and was told it couldn’t be made Vegan because of the light cream. I asked about Aloo Mutter and he said he was«pretty sure». I glared at him and asked him to check. I’m pretty sure he rolled his eyes but he did check with the kitchen. When he came back, he said that it was. I asked about the rice that came with it and was told that it couldn’t be made Vegan.(Really? I do it in my kitchen all the time. This is not a big conspiratorial Vegan secret. That’s nutritional yeast.) He offered me bread instead and assured me that it was«totally Vegan». I also asked for ginger ale, as I was already sure that my stomach would not be happy with this meal. I was told they were out but was offered Sprite, which I accepted. He asked what level of spicy I wanted my meal and I chose milder than mild. They brought out crispy bread which was a little too spicy for me but probably perfect for everyone else. I had to eat some of the mint chutney plain to cool down my mouth. My meal wasn’t terribly spicy. It would’ve been fine if I could have had rice mixed in with it, but having bread instead meant that there wasn’t enough to break up the spiciness.(I tried putting it in little pieces and mixing that up but it wasn’t quite enough.) One of the waiters apologized to me for the long wait(it wasn’t too long, especially compared to last time when I had to wait for them to re-cook my rice). The reason he gave was that everyone was downstairs because it was off hours. At this point, I realized he’d never brought me the Sprite, but the meal was almost over, so I just asked for the check instead. I showed my waiter the expired Groupon that I hadn’t been able to use last time. I read out loud that it specified that the value paid originally($ 14) never expired. When I got my check, they had discounted only $ 12. My stomach was also a little unsettled(and still is) but not so much that I threw up. There’s probably some ingredient in either the bread or the aloo that is animal-derived but it’s not dairy so I’m just upset instead of sick. I would only go back if they labeled their Vegan items on the menu and specified that they’ve learned how to cook rice without butter.(Seriously, you don’t even notice the difference, except that your stomach feels better.)

Yum yum yum! I love Indian food and Ghazal is no exception. The venue is very nice and cozy. I went on a Thursday night late and there was hardly anyone there(9 p.m.). The servers were great and very helpful. There wasn’t a lot of rice brought out originally, but they were happy to supply additional rice when asked. The chicken vindaloo was delicious, though not a lot of sauce. I also sampled a paneer dish, which was rich and creamy. Often have deals on Living Social and Groupon, and here on Unilocal too!

Looking through reviews today, I came across several harsh ones, and I was inspired to write one. This is my go-to Indian place in JP. It is consistently delicious and the service is friendly. Although most of the employees are not native English speakers(DUH, it’s an Indian place), they do their best! As far as food, I can speak highly of about half about both the vegetarian and chicken dishes on the menu. Chicken Jalfrezi is one of my personal favorites. Their portions are reasonably sized, and the naan is tasty as well, I mean it’s naan. My girlfriend loves the Navratan Korma from the vegetarian list. Sorry, vegans, this delicious food does naturally contain dairy. They have a wine and beer menu that is enough to suit most pallets. And compared to the other Indian place in JP, which has left me with a not so good feeling in my stomach, I’d say this is the best bet!

My friend brought me here raving about the lunch buffet. It was one of the dirtiest buffets I have ever been to. When I went up to the buffet, I had to search through the stack of plates to find one that didn’t have food residue. I eventually found a clean plate and got some food, which was an okay quality, not the best I’ve ever tasted but about what I was expecting. Then the waiter pours be a glass of water and there is a HUGE chunk of dust in it, the size of a penny. I asked them to get me a new glass and they did, after a long wait. I was still hungry so I went up for seconds, and while eating I found a DEADSPIDER in my rice. I was so disgusted I paid and left. I did not speak to the manager because nothing they could say would make me ever come back. I will never go back here, as they are clearly not very concerned with cleanliness of their food or buffet. Since then I have been going to Bukhara down the street and though the food is not terribly different I have never gotten the impression that it’s dirty.

I’m not one to hand out 5-star review left and right, but this place was really good. The service was great, the food was fantastic, and there was a parking lot outback. Win, win, and win! I’m not exactly a connoisseur when it comes to Indian food, so honestly it’s difficult for me to say how it rates to other places. I went with the chicken curry(I’m guessing a generic dish), and thought it was pretty delicious, albeit a bit rich. I got three meals out of it this week, so really, who am I to complain?

I’m so angry about our experience last night. We had a groupon for $ 40 of food. When purchased and in multiple viewings, nowhere did it say that the coupon was for FOUR people, not two. Once that fact was pointed out to us by the waitstaff we offered to buy four entrees to make up for the lack of food ordered. We were trying to be accommodating. The waiter and subsequent two other employees who attended our table were less than kind in pointing this out, while also being downright aggressive about it. I know from working with groupon on my own business, that the idea is to get customers in the store and your name out there. There had to be some sort of agreement we could have come to, but they were being staunch in their refusal to find a way to come to an understanding. Since we don’t have two other people in the area to bring, we would have never bought this groupon had we known. They decided to honor the amount we paid for the groupon and refused to serve us the«discount» provided via the groupon. So, basically we went there for no reason, to get no discount, and after the rest of our trip, regretted having even considered this restaurant groupon purchase. We finally had a fourth waiter come back, wherein we ordered our food. It was fine, that’s not what this is about. A fifth waiter brought us our bill. Where are all these men coming from? There are only maybe 15 tables in the restaurant and few of them were filled. We opened the bill to find no discount was taken at all. We then spoke to a SIXTH man who worked there after waiting for almost 25 minutes with the bill on our table with no return. I finally had to lift it above my head as our table was being purposely avoided at that point. This sixth waiter then RIPPEDMYSISTER’S PHONEFROMHERHANDSANDWALKEDAWAYWITHITWITHOUTASKINGHERIFHECOULDBORROWITTOTYPEINTHECODE, OREVENSAYANYTHINGTOHER. What the fuck is going on here? He finally brought our bill back after another 20 minutes of waiting, most of that, still with her phone. She was so livid about the phone that she shouted across the restaurant to never do that again. I am shocked that anyone would even touch another’s phone, let alone to take it from their hands without their permission. That is absolutely unacceptable. We had asked for our food to be boxed up, never saw that guy or our food again. We waited another 20 minutes after we gave our card to get it back. At this point we had been done eating for over an hour. I am dumbfounded as to what could have happened, or why any of this was considered acceptable. Perhaps consider getting take out from here rather than ever stepping foot inside. Some sort of insanity is going on here. After all that, on our way out a nice couple next to us said they felt so sorry for us, having seen and heard the whole situation. Then they said they had a living social gift certificate which they then seemed almost sad/concerned about, and we wished them luck.

Ghazal loses another star after my lunch there earlier this week. It seems that the owners have stopped caring about their food. The Chicken Tikka Masala was terrible. The sauce was thin and insipid. The chicken was dry. Archer Farms(Target’s food brand) Tikka Masala Simmering Sauce is far superior, and it’s made in India. The pakora were cold and greasy. Same for the fried dough. There was a dish that had a lot of spice, but it was beef. Beef! In an Indian restaurant. I’m sorry, but being inexpensive($ 8.95 for the lunch buffet) is not the same as being a good value. Bad food at a low price is still a bad deal. Sorry, Ghazal, it’s time for me to move on. Please let me know what you think of this review by clicking a button below. Thanks.
