US Post Office

The people at the Jaffrey Post Office are always friendly and helpful. The nice man who delivers my mail is also very friendly. I have only had positive encounters with anyone from the Jaffrey Post Office.

We’ve lived in this town for nearly 6 years. However there are «those» people in Jaffrey who will not give you the time of day unless you, your parents, & your grandparents are Jaffrey natives. It doesn’t matter if you’re a good person, an upstanding citizen, a community volunteer, pay your taxes, don’t engage in illegal activity, add to the betterment of the community, & regularly shop the local businesses in town. Unfortunately a lot of «these» people who look down on «newbies» like me work at the post office.
I, on the other hand, am one of «those» people who will smile politely & be friendly even when someone is being rude to me. I will say «Have a nice day» even when I am the customer & it is their job to say that to me & I know all I’ll receive in return is a grunt, if that. I will say «thank you» even when I am the customer & it is there job to say «thank you» to me.
The men who work here, including the Post Master, are never friendly, ever, rarely polite, & sometimes borderline rude (yes, it’s only the men, they recently hired a woman & she is a ray of sunshine & no that is not sarcasm). And yes, it’s only to «newbies» like me. I’ve come in before when one of them is chatting away with a customer like they’re best buds, catching up on who caught what the last time they went fishing, etc, then they barely give me a «grunt» of acknowledgment, then another Townie comes in & they turn back on the personality with them. What. The. Fudge. My money is as good as anyone else’s. I am ALWAYS nice to them & I NEVER get that in return, the most I get is borderline politeness & that is rare.
I will ONLY come here when I absolutely have to get a package out. Otherwise I will wait till Saturday & send my husband. He’s better at dealing with jerks than me. ;)
